Week 14 Results BURY 1 SOUTHEND 4 Southend are now unbeaten in five league games, as they thrash a Bury team who suffer their seventh straight league defeat. Nobody got this spot-on, and only 3 had the outcome. There were 16 who predicted a win for Bury. COVENTRY 0 S-THOROPE 1 Morris scored his 15th goal of the season, as S-thorpe remain top. Well done to Daniel for being the only one to have this spot-on, though there were 7 who got the outcome. GILLINGHAM 2 NORTHAMPTON 1 Gillingham grab a 92nd minute winner, as they came from behind to beat Northampton, and get their first win in eight league games. Good news for the 4 who got 3 points for predicting this, and 4 also had the outcome. There were 13 who thought Northampton would get the 3 points. MK DONS 1 WALSALL 1 A 90th minute equaliser for MK Dons, doesn't stop them dropping into the relegation zone, as they still await their first home league win of the season There were 4 who had this spot-on, and 2 more got the outcome. PORT VALE 2 FLEETWOOD 1 Another late winner, this time for Port Vale, as they came from behind to beat Fleetwood, in a game where both teams finished with 10 men. That will please the 4 who got this spot-on, and the 8 who had the outcome. SHREWSBURY 2 OXFORD UNITED 0 Yet another late goal, this time in the 98th minute, helps Shrewsbury to get their first league win since the 3rd September. Well done to mrhappy for being the only one to get 3 points for predicting this, but 11 did have the outcome. Not for the first time this season, late goals put a different complexion to the weeks results. In the end we had 14 three pointers, with 14 members getting one each. With only 35 other outcomes in total, this was another low scoring week. As for the weeks top scorer honour, it only required 5 points to achieve that this week, and we had a four-way tie between mfb_cufc, basher2010, durham_exile, and mrhappy. In the Premier, after losing out to the most 3 pointer rule for the past two weeks, mfb_cufc finally takes over the lead, for the first time this season. With so few points gained, there is no significant change to positions in this league. Again it is at the bottom where most movement takes place. With wessex_exile moving out of the relegation zone, and thrillseeker condemning jonestones to the bottom spot again. With only 9 points separating the Charity Shield from the relegation spots, it is all to play for in this league. In Division One, the top scoring week ensures basher2010 maintains his lead. Another of the weeks top scoreres durham_exile, showed he is still up for the fight. More than you can say for his beloved U's. The biggest mover in this league was noah4x4. Even though he couldn't replicate his Cup form by getting a 3 pointer, his three other outcomes - now giving him five more than anybody else - was enough to move him up two places. After being last weeks biggest faller, OhOriOri, repeated the feat again this week, by dropping another three places. He now finds himself in 13th position, but still only 5 points from the play-offs. A reminder that the twelve Champions League qualifiers will be decided on Boxing Day. With jonestones automatically qualifying by winning last seasons competition, the eleven highest scorers over the two divisions will join him. As things stand at the moment the occupier of that eleventh and final spot is durham_exile, with his 61 points. THE TABLES (100 out of 280 played) (Tie-breaker: Most 3 pointers, and then the first to post) Week 15 Fixtures CRYSTAL PALACE v MANCHESTER CITY 1-3 EVERTON v SWANSEA 1-1 SOUTHAMPTON v LIVERPOOL 1-3 STOKE v BOURNEMOUTH 0-0 SUNDERLAND v HULL 2-1 WATFORD v LEICESTER 1-2 |

Week 13 Results BURNLEY 3 HULL 2 Burnley get a last minute winner, after throwing away a two-goal lead. Nobody got this spot-on, but 13 did have the outcome. WEST HAM 1 STOKE 1 Stoke are now unbeaten in six games, with this draw. An absolutely massive 14 had this spot-on, with 1 more getting the outcome. NORWICH 2 LEEDS 3 A 91st minute winner for Leeds, as they came from behind to beat Norwich. Again no 3 pointers for anybody here, and only gsy163 got the outcome. There were 21 who predicted a win for Norwich, as they lose for the third game running. SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY 1 IPSWICH 2 Ipswich double their away goals total for the season, with this win. Well done to OhOriOri for being the only one to get this spot-on, and only sevebalo had the outcome. There were 24 who predicted a victory for Sheff Wed, with 10 going for a 1-0. WIGAN 0 READING 3 Wigan fail to recover from Reading scoring twice in the first five minutes. Well done to wessex_exile for being the only one to get 3 points for this, but there were 15 who had the outcome. CAMBRIDGE UNITED 1 DOVER 1 Dover grab a late equaliser, to earn a replay. Well done to gerry_us for being the only one to get this spot-on, and just ethicsgirl had the outcome. There were 22 who thought Cambridge would win here. OLDHAM 2 DONCASTER 1 A 94th minute goal for Doncaster doesn't stop Oldham progressing to the next round. But it helps the 5 who had this spot-on, and 5 also got the outcome. SHREWSBURY 3 BARNET 0 Shrewsbury cruise through to the next round, after this comfortable win. There were 3 who got this spot-on, and a further 16 had the outcome. WHITEHAWK 1 STOURBRIDGE 1 Stourbridge came from behind to earn a replay. There were 4 who had this spot-on, and 4 also got the outcome. HULL 2 SOUTHAMPTON 1 Hull end a six game losing streak, as they came from behind to beat Southampton. Nobody got this spot-on, and only noah4x4 and mrhappy, with their blind 1-0's, had the outcome. Another banker bites the dust with 24 predicting a Southampton victory. With the well supported Norwich, Ipswich, Cambridge and Southampton all failing to deliver, this turned out to be no better than a normal six game week. The other six games did produce plenty of points though, with the draw at West Ham leading the way, and 14 of the weeks 29 three pointers came from this fixture. This weeks top scorer didn't require the West Ham draw to achieve this honour, as Daniel got 3 points for the wins for Odlham and Shrewsbury, with the draw at Whitehawk, to give him an excellent 10 points. He was the only one to get three spot-on this week, but there were six who managed to get two, with all having the West Ham draw. The best of which was Sector4 and Colukev, who both got 3 points for the Whitehawk draw as well, on their way to a very good 9 points. In the Premier, with the top four all scoring 6 points, it is as you were. In fact with the majority scoring 5 or 6, there was little change overall. Reigning champ ethicsgirl was the most significant mover, going up two places. The musical chairs at the bottom continues, and it is now former champ thrillseeker whose turn it is to occupy the bottom spot. He was topping the table after Week 3, but has suffered by only getting one 3 pointer in the last eight weeks. In Division One, not such a good week for basher2010, but he clings onto to the top spot. His lead has been reduced to a single point by Colukev, who gets what has become a weekly mention, with another cracking effort. The majority of the weeks 3 pointers came in this league, and this produced more movement than the Premier. A decent week for gsy163 moved him up two. Moving two the other way was durham_exile, who has now only managed one 3 pointer in the last six weeks. At least that is one more than his beloved U's have achieved in the same period. The biggest mover was WessiehomesPete, who halted his recent decline, by going up three. Biggest faller was OhOriOri, who drops three. After two seasons in the doldrums, Daniel came right back to form, and his top scoring effort takes him up two places, and now in sight of the play-offs. At the bottom, just one point in the last two weeks has seen johnnyboy53 suddenly isolated from the rest. THE TABLES (94 out of 280 played) (Tie-breaker: Most 3 pointers, and then the first to post) Week 14 Fixtures Yet another International break week, so we have six games from League 1. BURY v SOUTHEND 1-1 COVENTRY v SCUNTHORPE 2-1 GILLINGHAM v NORTHAMPTON 2-0 MK DONS v WALSALL 0-1 PORT VALE v FLEETWOOD 1-2 SHREWSBURY v OXFORD UNITED 2-1 Good luck everybody. |

Week 12 Results MANCHESTER UNITED 0 BURNLEY 0 37 shots and no goals for 10-man Man Utd, in this bore draw. Nobody got this spot-on, and just the 2 had the outcome, with 24 predicting a Man Utd win. TOTTENHAM 1 LEICESTER 1 Leicester earn their first away point of the season, as Spurs remain unbeaten. The last time Spurs where undefeated in their first 10 games was 1990-91. They finished 10th that season. There were 2 who had this spot-on, and only 1 got the outcome, as 23 predicted a Spurs victory. BRIGHTON 5 NORWICH 0 Brighton are now unbeaten in nine, after this impressive victory. No surprise to find there were no 3 pointers here, but 11 did get the outcome. READING 2 NOTTINGHAM FOREST 0 Former Forest players McCleary and Gunter score the goals for Reading. A big 7 got this spot-on, and a further 11 had the outcome. BRISTOL ROVERS 1 PETERBOROUGH 2 A 92nd minute winner for Peterborough, as they came from behind to beat Rovers. That was good news for the 3 who had this spot-on, and the 1 who got the outcome. There were 16 who predicted a win for Rovers. NORTHAMPTON 3 BURY 2 Neil Dann's Bury have now lost their last seven, after another defeat. Again no 3 points for anybody here, but a big 18 had the outcome. This was a week where the predictions were heavily in favour of the home teams. Three of them delivered, but with only Reading producing the 3 pointers, this was another tough week overall. So just the 12 three pointers, and only one member had two of them. That was basher2010, who had the Spurs draw, and the Reading win. With one other outcome, giving him a very good 7 points. This was only enough to give him a share of the weeks top score honour, as Pinaul_Noir also achieved the same score by getting the Reading win spot-on, and four other outcomes, that included the draws at Man Utd and Spurs. Fortune favours the brave. In the Premier, burnsieespana clings onto the top spot, but only by virtue of more 3 pointers than mfb_cufc. Those two open up bit of a gap to Gate16, who remains comfortable in the other Charity Shield spot. Just like last season it is the bottom of this league where the places are likely to change on weekly basis, with things being so tight down there. This week it was BFG, who continued his good recent run, with his 4 points moving him up four places, and taking him out of the bottom three for the first timme since Week 4. He is replaced there by thrillseeker, who has as many 1 point outcomes than anybody in this league, but less three pointers. In Division One, the progressive basher2010 is now further ahead, after his top scoring week. It is the other progessive one of this league, Colukev, who has moved up another two places, into the other automatic spot. But it is only by more 3 pointers than Pinault_Noir, whose decent week also moves him up two. Recent leader durham_exile drops two places, as just like his beloved U's, he is suffering from a shortage of 3 pointers. The biggest riser in this league was OhOriOri up three. Moving the same number in the opposite direction, is early season leader, WessiehomesPete. Even though noah4x4 now has more 1 point outcomes than anybody in both leagues, just like his beloved U's, he is not getting the luck required to get those 3 pointers. Just a reminder, for those who may not have noticed, the Happy Cup begins this week. All details can be found on a separate thread, administrated by WessiehomesPete. BEWARE THE DEADLINE FOR THE HAPPY CUP IS FRIDAY 19.45. Wow, it's just been announced that the U's are to name our new manager as quick as tomorrow! Seems likely to be an internal appointment then? I am a little surprised after David Wright said only last week that he was going to ponder the appointment over the summer! What the hell is going on at my beloved club? |
