Is that how you and your fellow Portsmouth fans see yourselves, Arthur? Well, that's good to know. Perhaps you should stick to digging up worms and posting pictures of your kitchen.
I'm not sure what the end product is supposed to be here. No matter how much you hate Sport Republic, they can't just walk away, having invested hundreds of millions in the club, albeit it very unwisely. They could, I suppose, put the Club into administration, but who knows how many years it would take us to recover from that.
Our best hope is either to give them time to find a buyer, which isn't going to happen in the middle of this season of turmoil, or hope they can turn things around. Right now, they are probably working on both of those options.
Kat Liebherr is always there, selling first to Gao and then bringing in Sport Republic. Don't be surprised if she has a big say in the next choice of owner as well. There will be a few chancers but don't expect great owners to be queueing up to buy us now. A lot of care needs to be taken over this decision so trying to rush it through now is unlikely to end well.
He shouldn't have been asked to do it, but ultimately, he'll laugh it off.
Meanwhile, people are going to make sure Adam Armstrong gets maximum embarrassment for as long as possible by reposting this video as much as possible.
No better owner is coming in the middle of this season, no better manager is coming here before the end of the season and what better players would want to come here right now?
So, the best thing we can do is be the best supporters we can be under these difficult circumstances. At least we can save some pride that way and show potential new owners, managers and players as well as the current ones that this is a fanbase worth fighting for.
A toxic atmosphere, boycotts etc are just going to have the opposite effect. We got what we asked for when Martin was sacked and we were reasonably happy with his replacement. In fact I can also remember being pleased when Sport Republic took over and there were loads of positive comments when they started bringing the new players here.
It hasn't worked out. I'm sure the owners, managers and players have suffered more than we have over it. Imagine how Juric feels right now and how players like Aaron Ramsdale must feel. This is having a devastating impact on their careers. None of them wanted this to happen.
I've been impressed by our support so far this season. That, along with the emergence of Dibling and the arrival of Ramsdale, has been one of the few good things about this season. So, let's all give it our best shot until the end of the season. That's the time when changes can take place.
I agree. He got out just in time to save enough of his reputation for another crack at a Championship job. If he'd stayed until the end of the season, it would have been too late. The best he could have hoped for then would have been a lower league job. Right now, he's probably the happiest man connected with Southampton Football Club this season, and very relieved that we didn't leave it any later to sack him.
I refer you to the first game at St Mary's after the Sport Rebublic takeover, when we beat Brentford 4-1. About half the Brentford team was the same today, but only Bednarek remained from our winning team. I guess you don't appreciate what you've got 'til it's gone (and gets replaced by something that's much worse). Maybe Forster, Perraud, Md. Salisu, Romeu, Ward-Prowse, Broja, Adams etc weren't that bad after all.
The funny thing is when you look at the team that beat Brentford 4-1 in Sport Republic's first game in charge at St Mary's, it didn't look that good on paper. None of the players - Forster, Perraud, Lyanco, Md.Salisu, Diallo, Ward-Prowse, Romeu, Broja, Redmond etc - has gone on to do much since, yet we've somehow managed to replace them with a team that's much worse.
Ankersen's move from Brentford to Saints has certainly had a vey big impact.
Whilst in terms of winning anything we have consistently underachieved, fans of other clubs have thought the same: Leeds until the 1960s when Revie arrived, Forest until the 1970s when Clough arrived, Leicester until the last 10 years when they won their first league title and first FA Cup.
There aren't many clubs of our size left that still haven't had their spell at the top. The only others to underachieve almost as much as us are Birmingham with just 2 League Cups and 2 2nd tier Championships and Middlesbrough, with just 1 League Cup and 4 2nd tier Championships. Right now, I'd take our 1st 2nd tier Championship. We're certainly due one. We've kept turning up and supporting our team in greater numbers than fans of other clubs that have had far more success.
Just look at the smaller clubs below us in the all-time attendance table, who've been League Champions and won multiple trophies: Preston, Ipswich, Forest, Blackburn, Burnley, Huddersfield, Portsmouth etc.
"The season we were last relegated there were three promoted teams in the PL. Fulham, Bournemouth and Forest. Not only did they all manage to survive above us that season, but they now sit 3rd , 7th and 8th in the PL."
I'd take that as a positive. The Premier League is more competitive now than it's ever been. So, we can compete in it just as well as those 3 clubs are doing, when we get back into it. In terms of size of fanbase, we are very similar in size to Forest (we are 20th in the all-time attendance table and they are just below us, 22nd) and much bigger than Bournemouth and Fulham.
The other teams that did this badly or slightly better are not in the Premier League now.
Derby 2007/08 11 points
Sunderland 2005/06 15 points
Huddersfield 2018/19 16 points
Sheffield United 2023/24 16 points
Derby, Sheffield United and Sunderland are in the Championship. Huddersfield are in League One
I guess that is a positive for those on here who say they don't like the Premier League.
PS You could add to your list of negatives that for a club of our size (20th on the all-time attendance table), we are, in terms of trophies won, the most underachieving team in the country. Most clubs of our size have won 4 or 5 major trophies and a couple of Championship trophies as well.
The positive of this is that it also makes us the most loyal fans in the country. We keep turning up.
