The Ospreys want to have a good atmosphere at a ground so filling it is the plan,my hunch is Bridgend as its not far from the railway station ,will pull in rhondda interest. But I may be wrong .I did see Lance Bradley the new Ceo driving into St Helens on Tuesday afternoon. (I am not joking). It would take a lot to bring St Helens up to scratch though.Heard the Council aren't interested. And the Gnoll has problems getting tv Cameras in. They are playing Sale in the cup in April in Bridgend and it is close to selling out. If that game was played at Swansea on a Saturday night at 8 oclock they would be lucky to get 3000 .I am an Ospreys season ticket holder and have just renewed my Swans one.
There is a good website called Jac o the north. He knows intricate details of a these welsh topics and welsh government decisions. It is an eye opener. And He is a Swans Fan.
Yes great mural,on cwm level rd.I played for them in the 80s and 90s and know a few things about them of interest.Their first pitch was across the road up the bank and they used to change in the ivorites pub in plasmarl. They built a pitch on the cwm by where the top pitch is now.And the council further developed it around 1960. Around that time whilst unable to use their pitch ,they had to play games up llewellyns park on the now disused sloping pitches(I remember playing there as a kid ).They Amalgamated with cwm albion colts in 1992 who were a different club ,but colts moved their training up to blaenymaes ,thus not getting many players fed up the chain .I think that partnership has ended now. About 10 years ago they did have some success one season with some boys who now play for penlan.I remember they beat West End 6 2.John Rees chairman I applaud you ,for keeping the club going for all these years.
Come January 25th,the Swans were on 18 points,They played Lincoln and Kevin Nugent scored twice I think to win 2 0,then Martinez signed ,they drew with Rushden live on sky on the !st of February and beat Darlington 1 0 on the 4th (Nugent again). Then they beat Macclesfield away 3-1,All in all they took 31 points from the last 20 games. I remember The Oxford game when Leon Britton went off injured early on and Gareth Phillips came on and played a stormer and we won 3-2.
Did you know ,that the Swans won promotion to First division under John Toshack in Preston At Deepdale in May 1981? I remember it Well.(like a lot of other things)
The Financial times followed them around at the time when they took it over and subsequent season.I read it and remember it stated they did Not realise there could be relegation.
Last week on 2nd february radio 5 live nicky campbell programme talked about possible new regulation on football clubs with Tracey Crouch Mp.Its 1hour 5 mins in to the show. You can listen again on bbc sounds.Mentions transparency, integrity etc. Legislation is coming folks.
Times like this I think of 1975 re election, 1985 us going out of existence with mel nurse and the high court appeal and of course the great escape in 2002. So things are much better than those days but with a recession looming can we trust the owners
Just think without effective wing backs with wingers ability, martins plan will never work. Kyle joseph would do a better job as a wing back than labeatiure, and he,s off .What about that boy from shrewsbury he should be given a chance . When is the last time we won by the way ?
I notice Ryan Hedges played for them today, was with the swans for a while.
Yes Six of one ,has great tracks from both fish and steve hogarth eras. The new one "An hour before it gets dark "which is a take on what we have been going through the last few years ,have some critics swooning over it .
The album this track is off Dark matters is very good, best album they have done in years. Another Band still going which has brought out a brilliant album this year is Marillion. If you have time check out a track called Care on you tube (soaring Guitars)
If your looking for a good football book about Welsh football to get you through the summer and on to the world cup ,look no further than Trailing clouds of glory by Nick Burnell. "Welsh football's forgotten heroes of 1976" When Wales qualified for the euro quarter finals. Great story with Toshack ,leighton James Brian Flynn,Dai Davies John Mahoney to name a few . I enjoyed it especially as I remembered it vaguely and was good to revisit that time .I think some of the games are on you tube. Its for sale on E Bay and Amazon.
Yes entertaining test match, enjoyed the variations ebbing and flow of this one. Can,t help thinking that test match special doesn,t have the characters of yesteryear, the likes of Arlott,Bailey Truman , Johnson, boycott,s off it now. Listen to this from 1975
Its worth pointing out our away record was great. Its the home record that let us down ,we lost eight which is high for a team that finished 7th. I think the manager has done quite well ,given all things considered . I do think at Home though we need to start quicker.Seems we take a while to get going. Look forward to next season now ,hope we get some new signings that will give us more options going forward.
