Lots of good ones. I forgot about Leftfield tbh but still love Boards of Canada. Also this: [Post edited 31 Jan 18:23]

Why is the window slamming shut on Monday anyway? Is it becoming the January-February transfer window? Pass me the life-ending injectibles if it comes to that. |

Well you know.... football isn't it? Precocious talent, drop of the shoulder, the nutmeg, jiggery pokery, abracadbra I want to reach out and grab you, diamond formation, free expression of football - uncategorisable! Those Brazillians broke the mould. Marvellous. |

Am sure that's true - but he was looking for that sort of player, is my point. And let's not get into what I mean by 'that sort of player' please! |

As much as Jimmy would undoubtedly be missed, and we certainly can't turn down 2m at this point, I'd throw in a bit of speculation that I don't think Marti really wants to play with that sort of big physical converted CB at RB. It's been working great as part of the more pragmatic style, but he bought Santos to play in a certain, more mobile way, and then Ashby, and he's backing Ashby through a difficult period. Jimmy has been great but Marti might be quite keen to use the money to try again rather than commit to a new contract for Dunne - either by fixing Ashby and keeping him, or finding someone else. |

GERRRONWITHIT! No not that, don't gerrronwiththat! Well it doesn't actually say it is Dunne I suppose, so there is that [Post edited 31 Jan 10:25]

I've always stuck with 'a nun's bicycle' for my tasting notes - works for most of them |

Think it says 'option' in the article. Another reason to hope it really works out for him - in Portugal, and then later in Madrid. |

Could be interesting if it comes off certainly. A full season of League 1 feels like the important part in many ways. I also notice this sentence which has to be the footballing bio equivalent of naming your boy Sue: 'Having been utilised in a more unfamiliar left-back position, impressive performances from Vale saw comparisons made to Chelsea legend Ashley Cole from manager Joey Barton.' |

Our neighbour used to work in a hotel and, for whatever reason, has a large store of old wine. Not vintage, just 'old'. He very kindly gave us a few recently. I tried one on Friday night, a Rioja reserva from M&S - 2006. A good year for it I'm sure. Anyway the point is, for the first time I finally grasped some of the more unusually daft hints and flavours that people come up with, because this one really did taste of pencils. |

I hope they're not going to present him to Koki as a fellow countryman - I fear what could happen to his cheery demeanour |

Would be interesting to compare on the twitter what pseudo intellectual soap-boxing he was up to in June '21, in between dishing out kicks to the head. |

I have worked in medical research, and been trained to take blood, and I can tell you sir that there is no section of a blood work test that records the colour and shape (hooped or unhooped) of your blood. You need to go private for that. |

My second cousin's funeral was postponed today due to the weather in Co. Antrim. If that's not inconveniencing I don't know what is. |

Let's get him under the knife this afternoon. This could pay for 3 more Ashbys. |

Implausible, but not impossible - like what you've done there - so there is a chance. We need to get him to a phlebotomist before this deal goes through. |

Honest but harsh, I think. I wouldn't fancy him either as part of a CB pairing in the PL, but I think he could do a job on the right hand side of a three. There also genuinely seems to be something in this ungainly RB role that's worth sticking with - he's been a revelation there. I'd agree a big part of his improvement is down to his character, another positive factor. So I can see the limitations too, in some ways he's often been more than the sum of his parts with us if that makes sense, but I'd say he's a good player that we'd miss greatly at the minute. |

Why would you not be fussed? There may be something I can learn from this position and apply in my own life. |

Aside from that story most likely being completely made up, I don't think he'll go. He's said before in other conversations that he loves living in West London*. He's massively connected to the club and believes things are happening here, and I know money talks but I think a deal will be arrived at. (*e.g. that one where he was chatting in his mate's parents' gazeebo somewhere near Castleblayney) [Post edited 23 Jan 13:07]

I'm finding myself in the strange situation of being unsure what areas we should look at strengthening, if we get an opportunity. Mainly out of not wanting to upset the balance. - Jimmy should 100% stay where he is, and Colback can cover there. - A Pal injury could be tricky - Fox is fine at CB but exposed at LB, so maybe the right kind of back up there? - CBs we're suddenly fine - Midfield, maybe an extra one if it comes up? Madsen for Morgan highlighted that. - A forward looked the obvious choice - probably a loan, but again that would have to be the right player. We absolutely can't go for it and fcuk ourselves financially, again. So none of them feel anywhere near as essential to me as they did 8 weeks ago. Not sure what others think? |
