March Sky Games on 18:53 - Jan 28 with 1654 views | Northernr | One of the other perversities of this Sky deal on show tonight - their constant hiding of games they have rights to show. Pompey v Millwall in the Championship, a full set of League One games including Birmingham at Huddersfield, a full set of League Two games. They have the rights to all of this, and it's all on their Sky+ streaming service - i.e needs a good broadband connection and even then crap picture quality, dire commentary and coverage. Sky Sports Football, meanwhile, which costs you £30 a month is showing... an hour of Bundesliga highlights, and an hour of women's football highlights.

March Sky Games on 14:34 - Jan 27 by Konk | Bristol City recently sent out an email to season ticket holders who have missed home games, asking whether the absences were due to games being shifted from 3pm on a Saturday. So, presumably some clubs are monitoring the impact. Anecdotally, the Sunday midday games are a nightmare with kids football, depending on whether you prioritise your kid playing or watching their club. City v Swansea has been moved to 12pm on a Sunday, and my son's game has now been moved forward to 09:30, as both teams have loads of City season-ticket holders, but in similar situations last season, the opposition wouldn't budge and we struggled to put out a side/had families pi ssed off to be missing City. Saturday midday games are also a ball ache for people working Saturday mornings and school football. Throw in shi t atmospheres, presumably reduced sales of drink and food etc, plus a lot of lost good will, and it is definitely something that clubs should think carefully about. It's noticeable how many empty seats there are at City games with early kick-offs/Sunday games. Planning to take my son to Burnley and Leeds away towards the end of the season, but will have to wait to see what days/times the TV companies settle on... by which point trains will be eye-wateringly expensive. Booked flights up to watch Hibs v Dundee in April, and again, have had to stop up an extra night, in case they move the game to the Sunday. Absolute pain in the ar se. |
Edited as I didn’t realise I was replying to Konk 🤪 [Post edited 29 Jan 12:31]

Yeah I couldn't work that one out - was in the pub last night and thought they'd show the Pompey game, instead it was SSN with the various talking heads (thankfully on mute) and they were able to pipe in highlights/goals from all the EFL games as they happened. Thankfully not there tonight where their screens are wall to wall Champions League and all the plastic fans are in

My assumption was the pub only has basic Sky and instead they pay for TNT to show the Chumps league nonsense (which packs out the pub whenever I have the misfortune of being in there at the same time).

Small mercies. It'll be like this for the rest of the season now. Norwich fans will be chuffed being asked to get to Blackburn for a 1230. Football without fans.......

And for what? Norwich 11th, Blackburn 7th but falling fast as they always do this time of year. That'll be 12th v 13th by the time it's played. I wonder if having guaranteed every team will be shown 20 times they're now thrashing about showing games they don't even really want to show themselves, causing great hassle to idiot scum like us on the way. I find this TV deal utterly perverse.

I would think that all Championship clubs will comfortably exceed the minimum of 20 games being shown live! As all midweek matches, bank holiday games, League Cup, opening & last fixtures are included, I calculate that we've featured 21 times already. We are guarenteed another 8, but I'm sure it will be far more than that.
