Silly Season 18:46 - Jan 6 with 1044 views | STID2017 | Seems like it is silly season Not only on the managerial front, but also in regards to the retaining or otherwise of certain players ( in particular Harry Darling ) It seems a very small minority think we can do without Darling and / or replace him with an unknown quantity in Low from Wycombe I hope Low comes but should be in addition to Darling not instead of. There has also been some crazy speculation on the cost of keeping Darling as opposed to selling him and risking a relegation battle with a depleted squad. Monge tui Rodney !

Silly Season on 18:53 - Jan 6 with 1006 views | SullutaCreturned | We need to strengthen at centre back, not sell and replace. We saw the result of losing one of our regular CB's when Christie played there. Darling is vital to us this season. Even if he leaves in the summer on a free, it's better than selling him at a knockdown price now and weakening the squad further. Low needs to be as well as, not instead of. It's as if people haven't noticed that our thinly stretched squad can get a good result one week but is utter rubbish the next!
Silly Season on 19:02 - Jan 6 with 989 views | EagleEye | Bringing Low in to supplement Darling & Cabango should be seen as a positive move by the club to build for next season. Bringing Low in & selling Darling considerably weakens the squad. Be that for the remainder of this season or next. Bringing Low in after selling Darling first is a very high risk strategy & would be put the current regime on a par with the jokers who have just sold out. There is still time to sort this mess out. If Darling holds out & joins the likes of Bristol or Birmingham then that should tell you all everything about the ambition the club has in the short term
Silly Season on 19:08 - Jan 6 with 974 views | raynor94 | It's quite obvious are squad is weak with no strength in depth, and we certainly need Low as well as keeping Harry and at least another 2 experienced players. But there's no way we are going to be involved in a relegation battle

Lose Darling, fail to replace him and have to use Christie and Naughton at CB and we'll see.

4 wins and 2 draws even with the squad we have now will do that with ease

Don't underestimate Birmingham as an option. https://footballgroundguide.com/news/new-birmingham-city-stadium-latest Of the three options mentioned Leeds, Birmingham and Bristol. Leeds I can see this appealing to Darling this month as they could easily pay him over £20K a week and a contract with a massive increment if they go up and he is playing in the Premier League. This could easily match a signing on payment and set his family up for life. Birmingham are going places and will be a Championship club next season and easily pushing for the Premier League with the money and ambition the club have, they have already paid £15M for a player this season. If it was a summer move I can see him going here with a large signing on fee plus fantastic wages. He would also be closer to his Midlands business interests. Bristol City in my opinion would not be worth his while. Either way if he did move in January I think it would be for a nock down offer because the buyers don't need to sign him now they can wait. Hopefully we wouldn't accept an offer about £300K and keep him for the season.

Even if we keep Darling we are only one injury away from being in the sticky stuff. As seen when Darling and now Cabango are injured.

Well if we don't fetch anyone in we are asking for trouble, but even then it would take a collapse of monumental proportions. And teams at the bottom producing promotion form

We lose darling and don't replace him we will slide down, him and cabango are the reason why we aren't down there, just looking at goals scored would tell you that.

We can't force him to sign. Birmingham have mega bucks pretty sure he has turned down a good deal but there is only so far we can go on 1 player.

Good read as always Keith. No reason for Darling to rush into a deal now as he will, as you said in the article, be a free agent in the summer and be able to get a better deal for himself. In the meantime surely it is clear to any level headed Swans fan that if he is sold now, we will be much poorer and our paper thin squad will struggle

Only just seen it thanks for that. It’s clear that the odds are stacked against Darling signing a new contract - wonder how much the saga of last week has really impacted the offer … Conor Roberts … never let us down, we should not be breaking the bank for a full / wing back imo even if he comes for ‘free’ at the end of the season. It’s disappointing that none of the academy options have really come close to helping us out this season. We need strengthening all over the pitch in reality to be any kind of force in this division. With Darling leaving on a free that’s reduced our sellable assets significantly & will cost a decent transfer fee just to replace him.

Franco is the new messiah now, but if he's out who replaces him, we got no strength in depth, outside our first 11 we're struggling top 11 maybe and two others possibly. Basically we're ambling along on the seat of our pants.

Yet taking into account the fact that our top 13 / 14 whatever is what we have, some are happy to cut adrift a player who is in excellent form and out of contract through no fault of his own ! Unbelievable Jeff !!
