Back in the country for a week and so first game I've made this season. No place on this whole earth I'd rather be than at Loftus Road under the lights for an evening game. Especially when we smash Luton!
Brilliant game, end to end and we could have won 6-4. Again, the regime team played well and the fact we now have depth on the bench is so encouraging. Biggest cheer of the night wasn't for the two goals, it was for the couple of monster tackles in our own box after Frey's opener. In open play we defended wonderfully as a team for most of the match.
Another highlight was their defender taking 5 minutes of their time to realise he was being subbed off, rather summed them up
That series of blocks, tackles and Field’s clearance close to the line was a tribute to Mr Cook and his standards.
We’d have conceded then if it was the period just a few weeks before Xmas and the game would have been very different I suspect.
Those possessed by devils, try and keep them under control a bit, can't you ?

I bumped into GA at Wembley a while back and he was much the same. Very gracious about Marti. Said he wrote to Marti when he took over, and Marti wrote back.
At that point we were in the bottom 3 and you could have forgiven him a bit of bitterness. But he said he really hoped we got out it.
Edit- doh this was supposed to be quoting the GA comments above

That is classy by both of them.
"Things had started becoming increasingly desperate at Loftus Road but QPR have been handed a massive lifeline and the place has absolutely erupted. it's carnage. It's bedlam. It's 1-1."

A late one last night, but a well deserved win. We should have been 2 or 3 up at half time, two outstanding saves from the keeper and Jimmy managed to miss the rebound from 3 yards. Battled back and got the second, Alfie could have sealed it later on, but 2 was enough. Officials were absolutely awful and missed so much. Luton are one of the worst sides I’ve seen this season at LR, looking like us earlier this season. MoM Morgan for me with Dunne and Field also having great games, getting vertigo looking at the table now, 1 loss in 11, Cmon U Rs!

Referees seem to largely ignore players riding on the backs of opponents to gain height when heading the ball. There was quite a bit of that last night. It used to be a fairly common foul.

Also their players blocking us at their corners. They were brilliant at it, but they were all fouls.
Mind you, I thought they should have had a peno late on when Edwards wrestled one of theirs to the ground as he poked a shot wide.

Love it!
Presumably someone had to explain to him the point of it back at the start of December.
Once he learned the reason for it he insisted that we win every game so he could join in, he absolutely loves joining in, Varane too. If we lose at home he says he's leaving.
The grass is always greener.

Luton's confusion around the substitutions was highlighted in the Second Tier Podcast review of our match last night. I know they're not everyone's cup of tea, they were very complimentary about our win last night:

That Luton substitution fiasco happened to McClaren in one of his final games in charge for us. Fourth official got the board wrong, looked like he was taking a striker off while losing at home to Bolton, crowd absolutely flips out, McClaren flapped around, eventually got it right, burned a load of time off.
It's not generally an indication of a manager with much time left.

I was inclined to think that perhaps Gavin Ward found the electronic board all a bit too much last night . I feel like it’s something he’d balls up

Rob Edwards likely to go but i think he is a very decent manager and will do well elsewhere.
