Did say well before this he was a bit of a knob. I know another poster went to school with him too. Same conclusion.

A great believer in taking anything you like to wherever you want to.

Ruined his life now hasn't he all because of drugs, he probably would have got away with the video of him mouthing off with a slap on the wrist and a short suspension, but drugs is a different matter and rightly so.

He should have been given the chance of rehab he is obviously struggling.
Feel bad for the guy seriously we have all been stupid ourselves at some point and needed the chance of redemption.

I wonder if the Saudi leagues would give this lad a chance if he went through re hab?

They must have had more on him to have suddenly sacked him, at the time they said they would support and help him.

There was also an allegation in the Sun that ahead of a game he told a friend he would book a specific Leeds player. He booked the player, deservedly so by all accounts, but allegedly subsequently had "banter" about whether the friend had put a bet on the player being booked.

If those conversations took place, even if it was "banter" based on his experience that the Leeds player was likely to do something that merited a booking in the game, it was extremely foolish on his part. He was leaving himself wide open to accusations that he was manipulating a betting result, even if he did not profit from it, if details ever came out.

IMHO if those conversations were believed to have taken place the PGMOL would consider that to be far more serious than any allegation of drug use or not liking Klopp.

How is he struggling? We all make choices he obviously made wrong ones.

I await with baited breath the mental health card

There is enough evidence of just how drugs ruin lives totally to prevent anyone from taking them up .
I don’t really have any sympathy for them.

It is a choice

Drug addiction is a serious problem mate.
Honestly it can happen to anyone , well maybe not drugs for everyone but there is alcohol and gambling.
We have no idea who this guy is away from football .
Yes he has made some shocking choices but I don’t believe anyone with addiction is below being give n a 2nd chance.
This is if this is just about his stupid reckless comments while off is face.

Responding to max there were whispers of him sending texts about a booking in a game he was involved in published by the sun the other week.
If that is proven then sacking is the right corse of action.

But as I stated drug addiction is a disease that can be treated .

There is no indication he is an addict. If I was in a public position I would be very careful about getting intoxicated or talking too much under the influence. Cocaine is something I am not interested in.

I liked when my rugby refs would said scrum down "Blue" not mention the team.

Wise sage since Toshack era

I hardly think he's addicted, whether refs are subjected to testing like players I don't know.

But I find very hard to have any sympathy with him, especially after the betting on a yellow card conversation was revealed

With the videos on him he was obviously open to be blackmailed

Personally I think it was the betting angle that got him sacked.

It can be with to start an addiction but after that it becomes more important than food life or family.
There is studies that put it down to genetics as well 🤔.

I would imagine he will still try and get games to referee away from FIFA and UEFA.

Not yet, but in the future.
