I enjoyed this game, this in my opinion was the best I have seen Rangers play over a full 90 minutes this season. In recent years and with fingers crossed when we do well at Watford our season improves. I also got the feeling that the players confidence is a lot higher after the win at Cardiff and you could see that live. Clive, thought Madsen deserved a higher mark, think he had his best game so far for Rangers and is starting to get into a Championship groove at last. |  | |  |

Standing in the away end watching that performance was bewildering.
We were a really good watch . Worked space and chances with ease and as you say with better finishing we would have won this game.

Same reason Morrison got a 6 not a 7 - missed a great chance, which is the reason we didn't win.
But there really isn't much difference between a 5 and a 6 or a 6 and a 7.
And in general this supposed big improvement in Madsen isn't evident to me. He looks fcking wooden. | | | |

The match write ups have frequently been more entertaining than the football and I have never even looked at the player ratings to quibble with. There is no better write ups of games at any club than we see on this site.
As for the game yesterday, watching it on TV, the major flaws in our game were highlighted once again by the lack of composure in front of goal. The three big chances we spurned were all around 8 yards from the goal and still we cannot hit the target. The fact is we only had one effort on target again and as Sky highlighted we have have the lowest ratio of on target shots in the whole division. It is this inability to kick the ball directly at an immovable object that will send us down. Time and time again we scuff the shot or belt it into the crowd behind the goal. We have no natural finisher in the team.
For sure there seems to be an improvement in the overall play but the end product is painfully weak. I know Celar missed the penalty against Stoke but that can happen to the best. Even Salah blasted a spot kick wide on Wednesday and Mbappe had his saved in the same match. Anyone can miss a spot kick but what we need is players to hit the target in open play as that is where the bulk of the chances come from.
As we have seen with other clubs, Middlesborough scored 15 in 3 games and Norwich scored 10 in 2 games because they have players who produce on target efforts on goal. We are chucking away win potential with snatched efforts on goal and when you are on top you have to take gilt edged opportunities. We wasted them at Watford and dropped another two points. |  | | |

I would say that this was a better 90 minute performance than Luton away and certainly better than Cardiff midweek. I therefore proclaim this as the best performance of the season thus far.
We actually looked like we had a plan going forwards rather than just a ‘park the bus’ low block (as I believe we now have to call it.)

Really good and fair report for an enjoyable match and great support. But how did we miss those sitters? Madson's miss was bizarre for a right footed play.
The only thing I'd add is that when Fox came on a left back we were lucky to get away without conceding. He is far too slow, and that seemed a poor substitution. | | | |

In the Cardiff game, noticed him receiving the ball in a central position from the centre halves and quickly turning with it before making a direct run towards goal. Created havoc and moved us forward quickly. So much easier to do from a central position than from the wing with a full back breathing down your neck. With license to drift across the front three this ability and outlet should be used more.
Pleasantly surprised with the performance at Watford. Confidence and belief from the Cardiff win will hopefully see us kick on. 3 games unbeaten with 2 clean sheets shows progress but we need goal contributions from across the team. Not remotely convinced by Celar despite two well taken goals midweek. | | | |

Great performance I thought, and on any other given day we win that comfortably if we take our chances. There were good stages in the game that we dominated but yet didn’t put the ball away. The changes to the team were quite clever I thought from marti. Paal back into a natural left back role for him, although he was poor. And the change in midfield , varane out and Morgan in worked as well. The plan for that was clearly to use Morgan’s fresh legs and workrate to get tight and press on sissoko, their highest calibre player and given the time and space would have effected the game but the press was constant and worked.
Some absolute sitters that just need to be taken if we’re to get more wins. Onto the game next week against Norwich on Saturday and I’m feeling fairly confident after that performance. They score a lot but also ship a lot. I think the team will be the same , just the only change , varane coming in for field and having Varane and Morgan sitting centrally with Madsen just in front. Should hopefully see a midfield performance at home similar to the one against Sunderland where they were all great. | | | |
