From what he says there I suspect he means he is missing one or two players in positions he wanted.
That has got to be a forward for sure and possibly another player.
Its code for get me players in Jan as we shall need them and he's right.
Our squad is not large like the old days and he's blooding the kids so, you cannot say players do not get a go, because they do. He even gave Taylor Richards a go last season. You cannot say he does not give players as chance. Even EDB makes the bench.
If Smyth gets injured right now we have no one to play RW so, its back to wing backs and so on if that happens. Dembele isnt' a RW anyway he's an AMC really. |  |

'QPR need to improve' is hardly headline news, is it? And how is thanking 'everybody' pointed in any way? There's reading between the lines, and then there's over-reading.
I think his reference to the owners pretty much implies the board, unless he means to say the former are telling him how much they like and want to support him but failing to pass that onto the latter (on which Ruben and Amit themselves sit), which would be weird even for us.
As he's/we've had such a bad start, in my view Marti's doing what most managers do whose teams are struggling and sending out a message about what more he needs to protect himself and modifying his much sunnier assessment of our recruitment a mere three months ago. That's hardly news either - it's called downward managemnt of expectations, which has always gone on at QPR. In any case, no manager ever says he's totally happy with this squad and pleads for it not be added to, let's face it.
The bottom line is, if the team can't improve, everyone is to blame - Marti, Nourry, the Board, the owners, and the players, in whatever order. |  |

It is also quite clear, as it has been from the summer, that Marti did not get the profile or type of player(s) he requested as key to his style of play.
Notably missing in action from a coach who plays possession football:
- no ball playing CM recruited, who is absolutely key in terms of the ability to play out from the back and dictate and control a game ( a Faurlin type)
- No ball playing full backs recruited, who must be able to do the same, play out, in tight spaces, and progress us up the pitch. (We only have Paal who can do that, 1 of 4 full backs required, and he was already at the club)
And then we have the striker situation. Only 2 strikers. And 1 of which cannot play up top on his own. Another area of the team not fit for purpose. So it’s not hard to see where Marti is coming from. | | | |

I'll post the article once again in case you haven't seen it, when, in late August, Marti told us he 'almost fully satisfied' by our summer recruitment and how he felt 'convinced we have signed some good players', which it was now his job to weld into a cohesive team.

That's my point.
I've given my reading of this shifting of his feet, with our very poor form the rather obvious factor.
Do I think the summer recruitment has been flawless? Clearly not, but it hasn't been disastrous either.
Do I think that Marti has struggled to fulfil his own self-described task as coach in moulding a team out of the personnel he has told us, repeatedly, he trusts and rates highly (and this for whatever reasons, including the injury list)? I do. [Post edited 29 Nov 22:09]
