The Swans' change of ownership negotiations??? 14:44 - Nov 7 with 6781 views | TimBowen | I'm not one of these 'in the know' fans and, while I keep reading/hearing positive news about the potential sale of the club and change of ownership...I can't seem to find anything definitive about the current state of play. I'm hearing how the negotiations are well advanced, some saying completed! But suggestions made, for no public announcement, are the litigious minded US lawyers, dotting every i and crossing all the t's and because of it, it's all dragging on? But the question remains, are these sale negotiation rumours even accurate, or are they simply the fantasy, of well meaning but misguided, internet 'fan groups?' I say this, as the sporting media have been unusually quiet about it all, if it's correct? Does this mean the negotiations are being held in a professional and so, discreet manner, or is the sale just 'total hogwash' instigated by resentful fans, about the majority owners perceived apathy towards the club? The reasons behind Company House changes recently, may have been misunderstood. However, it's been the catalyst for desperate fans to get excited about the prospects of us being sold, to what appears (based on unsubstantiated rumours) perfectly credible, committed buyers. Should anyone have genuine inside sources, I'm sure many of us would like this to be confirmed/clarified/denied, one way or another please.

The Swans' change of ownership negotiations??? on 09:50 - Nov 9 by onehunglow | This change could see more unison within the fan base . There has clearly been much disaffection with fans and it takes time to get back on track The right people though can see us start to puff our chests out again . It’s been a time of tedium for us and the thrill has gone for many . This could be the catalyst for a new dawn Pray it is so. |
Look, just because people occasionally have a go at you for being a bit too negative doesn’t mean the rest of us are at each other’s throats!!!!

The Swans' change of ownership negotiations??? on 17:23 - Nov 8 by ReslovenSwan1 | I remember the 1982 relegation which led to near catastrophic years and two decades of decline and eventual failure to pay debts to local and other firms. Levien and Kaplan failed in their mission to expand due to Huw Jenkins s disastrous transfer dealing in the main. He had one bad season out of 15 or so but cost the club dearly. Levien and Kaplan have admitted failure and 'taken their own medicine' with a cash hit, About $50m perhaps with their partners. They have nor squeezed the new owners too hard over the sale price. The club is reported to have low debts and having come through Covid indecent shape. Cabango Abdullai Cooper and Cullen have f graduated into the first team which is now stacked with talented 22-23 year old's. Parker Watts Nzingo Hennia Woodward and Govea look like future stars. They have brought the stadium under their control. You n know wht I might follow your suggestion. |
We didn't get relegated in 1982!!

Absolutely. There’s no utopia where everyone on a message board agrees on everything. Our fan base isn’t divided and never has been. Petty squabbles on here are exactly that.

The Swans' change of ownership negotiations??? on 10:09 - Nov 9 by onehunglow | Indeed so. It would be nice to see fans unite again. No internecine shyte . Imagine that . Btw, my comments regarding fans were not meant as a personal jibe at anyone ,simply a case of my stating the obvious that thousands have walked away from the club in a short time . There has to be a reason for this . Things being as they are here and have been for most of this year has stopped me going to games up north but I’ve not missed a game . I don’t bother with what family I have left over Swansea and I don’t fancy 500 mile round trip alone Lifey did agree to put me up in his coal shed though . I’m hoping for a better year in 2025 ,my seventy fifth year on the planet and my 68th as a fan . |
It has been obvious for several months that there was going to be a major restructure of club ownership. The transactions registered at Companies House pointed to this 100%. Some didn't want to believe it, that's their choice. My dislike to put it mildly of Levien, Kaplan and a lesser case Silverstein was because they had no "fèeling" for the club and were only interested in dollars. My dislike of Coleman is firstly his cover up of his actual start date and his clear lack of experience in running a British football club and the knowledge needed. I have no doubt he "gets the club and it's supporters" and is the reason behind the proposed takeover. As I have said elsewhere in my mind Coleman has the slate wiped clean and it is a fresh start. I look forward to see the way the ownership is shared particularly Morris who has distanced himself from the majority shareholders since his initial investment. There is no way this can be called a management buyout because of the incoming partners and fresh investment, over and above the money required to buyout the other shareholders. These are indeed exiting times let's see some initiative used by the club in ticket pricing and promotion to help get the ball rolling again. Half season tickets from boxing day, better half time entertainment, improve the concourse offerings and pricing structure, bring back the cash option for those on a budget. So many things can be done off the pitch, let's hope the club uses this opportunity for a massive relaunch.

Cynical view I know, but the most effective way to get the pick and choose crowd going more regularly is a winning run. People aren’t going to go or not go based on the quality of the hot dogs or whether the kids get a free scarf. If we are winning, particularly if the football is more Martinez than Cooper, people will find the time and the money. Appreciate it’s much easier to make the marketing tweaks than sign a 20 goal striker.

That's fair. But the marketing was much better last time we were in the championship. When half season tickets were announced didn't the club promise a free year if we were promoted for all season and half season ticket holders or am I imagining it. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

It was just a term I used, I don't know what a hedge fund is and nor do I care, some people love to jump on things to always appear to be right, but nothing changes on that score. That's not aimed at you by the way.

Marketing was definitely much better and the little things certainly do make a difference. I just think success is the biggest driver. I wasn’t disagreeing with your point at all. I can’t remember a free season, but did expect season ticket prices to rise substantially and I don’t think they went up at all.

We are not a big club but certainly not a small one Our potential,I would argue,is greater than most in this league We have a whole country ( almost) to tap, into Although it’s a club for Swansea ,I’ve mellowed now and accept “ outsiders”

They did. Think it might have been the Sousa year, but they definitely included a free ST if we got promoted to the Prem as part of the deal at least once.

Although I agree good football and a winning team will draw the crowds we also need some marketing with imagination.

Ballpark calculations give me a figure of roughly £6m as the cost of giving everyone a free ST in the advent of promotion to the Prem. That's against guaranteed TV money of at least £100m, probably closer to £110m. You're right. It's a no-brainer offer to make. Especially as a lot of the infrastructure costs were paid for the last time, freeing up a lot more cash this time around for squad building.

I misunderstood WR. That does actually ring a bell. Our first season in the PL wasn’t free, but I think it was offered one season, we just didn’t quite make it. It’s a good way to catch speculative plastics when the ST money is a lot more important that it would be in the event of promotion.

A half season ticket would be a decent idea at this point. I know a few who were regulars but didn't want to come back under Levein as they'd lost hope. A change of ownership and a little bit of money in January and there could be a fair few coming back

I didn't renew mine and my sons for that reason. We've been going away more though. I think they could offer a HP agreement whereby you start paying for next seasons tickets now and it keeps rolling after that, You've then paid for your ST monthly up front, the total price divided by 12, simple. Could they do that?

Denigrate ? Just how another post of poison and it’s sad I am on several Swansea forums and folk are often “ slagging off “ the place . It’s often because they have seen the deterioration of the place . Pointing out matters is not slaggingbiff. Can I ask where you are from and what your background is. DM me if you like . Many people who move away from their home town never return . The town of birth is forgotten in the midst of time and contemporary issues . I have never seen any football site see such personal remarks . It’s normally about the club or team. It’s not healthy

I apologise for that. I don’t like the ‘outsiders’ inference. Doesn’t apply to me, I was born here and I live here, but I think patronising people who spend a lot of time and money travelling to home games, let alone away, is out of order. You can’t help where you were born but you can help how much effort you put into supporting your club. However, my comment was churlish and unnecessary.
