Swans players feel disrespected by their contract offers *Latest on 07:54 - Nov 3 by Swans9 | Just hope the two don't get tapped up with a promise of a massive signing on fee in the summer and a couple years contract with double the wages. Need to get them signed by end December. Or the sharks will be circling. |
It's going to happen. As soon as we enter January they can sign a pre contract and there is nothing we can do. The problem should have been solved a long time ago with Cabango, Darling was always going to leave on a free for personal reasons.

I d not understand this pre-contract thing. The players are looking to negotiate from a position of being out of contract. Signing a pre contract would appear to reduce access an open market and possible late interest from a Premier league club. There have been instance of transfer flip where a player signed for one club then is immediate l old to another for cash.

If you don't understand it I suggest you study it a little. Especially the benefits and disadvantages. I would say neither Cabango or Darling are likely to be signed by Premier League clubs. Both know what packages are available elsewhere and are happy.

It's simple enough, they negotiate a deal they are happy with and commit to signing it when they are free. It doesn't reduce their access, they have used that access to take the best offer on the table at that time. If something better comes along later then it's tough, it's always been the nature of the beast. Yes players have signed then been sold on but it's always to their advantage, big pay rise usually I reckon. I don't think it happens much these days, the rules about playing for too many clubs in one season stop it.
Swans players feel disrespected by their contract offers *Latest on 08:38 - Nov 4 with 1257 views | shandyjack | When can a pre-contract agreement be signed? This answer differs depending on the clubs involved. English clubs can approach a player registered to any European club - and indeed, any club outside of England - when he enters the final six months of his contract and negotiate a pre-contract agreement. This also applies in reverse, with non-English clubs permitted to negotiate pre-contract agreements with players registered to English clubs. However, the rules are different when it comes to negotiations involving two English clubs. Teams can only approach a player playing in the same nation when he enters the final month of his contract, when the domestic season ends. The FA implement this to avoid a situation where a player signs a pre-contract agreement with another club mid-season, and then faces his new club in a match. So Darling and Cabango can't sign with another club in England untill May

Thank you for clarification. I interpreted it differently because technically we are a Welsh club, but your explanation makes perfect sense. Although a contract can't be signed a verbal agreement could still be in place between a players agent and a clubs agent.

Is the right answer. We have been repeating this for a while. Dec 31st at midnight and it’s a free for all for some. But I’ll put everything I own on the fact agents will be talking to agents who will be talking to clubs.

The risk for the player is that the service station handshake in December doesn’t pay him wages if he does his knee 6 weeks from the end of the season and he’s not playing for 9 months and on top of that he has to pay for his own rehabilitation

That's why they have insurance. Sometimes the club pays Sometimes the individual. Wasn't there a video floating about with one of our ex players Alfie Mawson saying how much he was paying in insurance himself as his new club didn't pay it. [Post edited 4 Nov 15:27]

So tell me what Swnsea players have signed pre-contract deals? Manning and Latibeaudiere just walked when their deal ended, The usual suspects are taking about this but I do not I understand the benefits . Neither do agents it seems. The whole point of running down your deal is to wait until the best deal shows up. I remember Hal Robson Kanu doing this and finding no takers at the money he wanted. [Post edited 4 Nov 17:17]

Most of us know this. Talks go on even when officially there should have been NO contact. Cabango and Darling may not be able to sign a contract but they'll probably have committed to something. I also thought it was different because we are Welsh but now I seem to remember there was some rule changes a few years back after some difficulties and complaints being made. Maybe it happened then?

You and your chum were projecting fake news it seems. Just admit it and move on. No Swansea had signed pre contracts because they were not allowed. No player will make a gentleman agreement either as it is not in their interests. They will.only agree to "speak to our people before committing". . [Post edited 4 Nov 21:41]

An agent talking to another agent is how it starts. Then the contact is increased with other agents, it’s a snowball effect. There’s no rule stating agencies can’t compare notes when it suits, and get their agents on the case. Some agents work for clubs as well. Well, any club. It’s the fee’s that are paid at the end that reflects the agents hard work. There’s nothing wrong either with a call into Swansea City asking about any player and their circumstances come January or May. That of course is a double edged sword. Basically it’s all about not contacting the player, but there’s nothing to say agents can’t talk to each other. Basically this work is a year round thing. And is a good way for them to gauge the player indirectly. And of course, a players agent can always talk with their trusted contacts to get up to date news out. Like the club falling out with them for offering low baller contracts. As an example. My bet is every agent throughout the two top tiers are either well informed in Cabango and Darling, or aware things are not right. As I said before, we’ve reported this for several months.

Swans players feel disrespected by their contract offers *Latest on 20:38 - Oct 29 by KeithHaynes | Andrew Coleman Edit - He would be foolish to not engage with Hodge on what other clubs are prepared to go to. He has many contacts. But Coleman has his hands tied by the financial constraints he himself has imposed regards profit and sustainability for 2026. And of course then there is Levien. This is once again a very tricky discussion based on the desire to save on a new contract that could have been signed in the summer. Anyone who thinks differently hasn’t been listening.

It is frightening to think Coleman is now in charge of negotiating transfer and contracts, 8 weeks away from the transfer window opening. X was covered with people celebrating the departure of Watson when i personally thought it a bad move without a replacement already found. The snippets i have heard is that there is no rush to bring in a director of football. The clubs management board have no one with a clue about football. That's really worrying.

New players are not needed in big numbers. Several players are completely unused and fit Peterson Ntoe an On. Other are played out of position Abdullai. There are three or four academy players recently recovered from injury. Govea Parker and Wilson. Kukharevych and Yates could return theoretically in January. Cotterill Congreve are getting regular fame time . January will be for loans only Eom returns as the Paterson type player someone mentioned..
