Cracking evening with Hendo and his family. A grounded but focussed guy who deserves the accolade of Legend. Lovely to see Matty Done too. For those that were there....hope Freddie got home safely and has his boots on

Poor Freddie’s game was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch. It was an excellent evening. Didn’t realise that Hendo is so articulate. Really comes across well.

Surely he's done enough interviews and enough media in his time with us for that to have already been realised?
When I was your age, I used to enjoy the odd game of tennis. Or was it golf?

A night with David Dockerty featuring Ian Henderson.
Hendo came across brilliantly when he was allowed to speak. He spoke very openly too, which is what makes the event. He’ll forever by the GOAT at this club.

Was our erstwhile and recently unbanned from football CEO in attendance?
The one who, according to 3 statements I have seen, said he'd go to his own grave happy in the knowledge that Hendo would not break Reg's goal.scoring record?

His ears would have been burning though as Hendo told his story of what happened when the contract extension was withdrawn. He never did ask for more money by the way.
There was a funny moment when just at the point Hendo was telling us the story, a phone rang. Jokes abound that Roger was on the phone to argue his case.

Interesting - what a web of lies we were spun by Roger! For the benefit of those that weren't there / do not know the story could you please paraphrase what Hendo said about the contract?

I'm sure the litigious thing won't be happy reading this, but, in keeping with its general incompetence, its paperwork (e.g. the Fiji international game "arrangement with Hornets" that wasn't) will be non-existent on this and many issues should anyone wish to expand further.
Never forget.

The episode with Bottomley and Ian Henderson is a great example of what a spiteful, odius individual Bottomley is. He even thought he could decide the history of the club in respect of the all time goalscorer and told lies to the fan base in order to do so. That's the audacity of him, his hangers on at the club and his mates in the Boardroom who tried to protect him are just as bad. Reg Jenkins achievements will never be diminished, he's woven into the fabric of the club, alongside the likes of Ian Henderson and Gary Jones etc. Henderson our highest goalscorer in the clubs history, he's worked hard for that accolade and anybody who isn't pleased for him could never have been a true Rochdale fan.
History will always show Bottomley as the man who tried to kill the club and nearly succeeded. Opened Champagne to celebrate our relegation and then tried to hammer the coffin lid down by inviting Curran and his cronies up to the club. Imagine Bottomley and Rawlinson etc running the club (stripping it), hand in hand with Andrew Curren/ Morton House/ Mathew Southall, It doesnt bear thinking about!
Is it possible to impose a life time Stadium ban on this con man and his side kick Rawlinson? If it is then let's get it done.

“his hangers on at the club and his mates in the Boardroom”
Absolutely. It sickens me that there are still a few involved at the club that fought his corner. One of the ones who he gifted shares to, the one who went round Littleborough pubs defending him (whilst bizarrely wearing his club lanyard in his spare time - what’s all that about?) and his hospitality sidekick spring immediately to mind.

I can't believe no one has mentioned the travesty of no sticky toffee pudding. Apart from that it was a thoroughly enjoyable evening and I hope to be able to make the manager's and team mates event in February.

100% agree. 'Evil prospers when good men say nothing' In this case, everybody in the Boardroom said nothing and let Bottomley plot the downfall of the club, they would have all flogged their shares to MH had it not been for fan intervention.. all of them. Evil was aid and abetted by Tony Pockney and other Directors at the infamous EGM, witnessed by everybody in the room, they assisted Bottomley and Rawlinson on the night..whispering in his ear every two minutes in order to help him answer questions, desperate rats the lot of them. We've had some classic EGMs lately.
Then we have the hangers on at the club who are viewed in a more favourable light than the fans, even given honourary status above the likes of Jamie Sarsfield and other recently departed Directors...people who poured a small fortune into the club to save it from disaster. The fact that particular wrong hasn't been put right is a digrace and it's something that Cameron Ogden and his family should be addressing. It's something the fans need to keep banging the drum about and it needs bringing up at the next AGM directly with Cameron, hes the only one who will ensure it gets done, we all know that.
Anyway, back on topic. We managed to get Hendo back into the club and he's cemented himself as the greatest of all time..alongside Gary Jones😀

There was also the scandal involving 'indiscretions' by a (then) Director which led to a massive payout to another employee of the club. Of course no-one was prepared to discuss it when the subject was raised. Another example of the clandestine manner in which matters were carried out.

Careful. He reads this board avidly and doesn’t like people saying hurty words about him on here.
He’s got some neck, I’ll give him that.

Was the payout made from club funds or was it made by the person who was responsible for the 'indiscretion' from his personal finances? If the former, did it appear in the annual accounts?

Spot on and it was kept in house by those in the Boardroom. Did they remove the offending Director from the Club? No they didn't, they carried on as normal, all of them. Club funds used to pay out compensation for a Directors inappropriate behaviour, disgraceful. A boardroom that was rotten to the core. Something that should prick the conscience of those running the club when they look at the previous Directors who have been granted honorary life positions at the club. Nothing at all for the likes of Jamie Sarsfield and recently departed Directors...brilliant people who stumoed up a lot of money to save the club. Fortunately the fan base and shareholders mobilised and stopped the con artists in their tracks, booted them out of the club and saved it. So the disrespect shown to Ian Henderson in respect of offloading him to another club should come as no surprise, nobody in the Boardroom had the clubs best interests at heart, never mind a club legends. Thankfully we now have brilliant new owners but you can't blame individual fans for being hyper-sensitive when it comes to how those in the Boardroom conduct themselves, we've seen the damaged caused when supposed custodians of the club are not held to account.

I was happier with the cheese to be honest James. Yes it was a thoroughly enjoyable evening and hope the one in February sells out too. He deserves the praise and our admiration. A shrewd business man .... looking forward to seeing his hotel venture..... so long as it isn't in our club car park

He didn't like it when i had 'hurty words' with him in the Flying Horse Pub last year in front of everybody, fortunately my cousin was with me and difused the situation. I'm in there again this Monday afternoon, there'll be more hurty words if he's in. People like him need reminding how poor they are, otherwise they just continue doing what they do.

I’d love to see that!
I’d also love to see the above comments stay on here as nobody has been mentioned by name so they can’t go playing the victim card like the other week.

Funny how the offenders have a knack of trying to potray themselves as victims. Some are daft enough to believe them though. The Ratcliffe has never been run better than it is now, everything done by the book, orders accounted for. Up the Dale, down the ale, ordered exclusively for the club bars😀

Absolutely right TS, and it's about empowering staff to do a great job rather than dictating and using the place as a little empire. The sad lives of those who thought they could use Dale as a way of bigging themselves up have been laid out before us
Some are still clinging on. They're way out of their depth in the new regime, and it's only a matter of time before their attitudes and incompetence are found out
