Stephen's shoehorned in again 14:06 - Aug 17 with 3125 viewsGRIM

It looks like Stephen's will be utilised in that holding midfield role, unless RM intends to play 3 across the back with Sugawara & KWP given licence to push on as wing backs.

He is barely championship standard as we all saw last year
He looked woeful against Getafe
We will go straight down if he is a starter
Good god

If RM plans to play a back 5 to encourage the passing out from the back game then we sure AF now need a proven CB

Yep, a back three/five, Airbo starts up front with Diaz and Adam A as centre forward. Amo Ayew and Dibling are subs.

Apologies everyone, I’m sober and not having a meltdown! I assure you for a good 15 mins flashscore did have O’Brien Whitmarsh up in the middle of the back 3 / 5 - the flashscore website have now corrected their error so I will go back and edit my post. Blimey, that gave me a shock - think I’d have failed a Hoffenheim medical 😀

Great to see so many Saints fans up there, with the whole of that top tier red and white. Full credit to them. I've done it many times but 7 or 8 hours there and back is hard going.

No Shea Charles on the bench.

Maybe he is off after all….

Midfield does look light on the bench TBF…

Good opening 15 mins. Sugawara looks nervous but once he settles he can get up and down better. I thought we'd look lightweight but so far maybe we were lightweight in championship but sufficiently physical for the premier league?

Weeks to get transfer business done, yet start of season we still have to have Jack Stephens as first choice to start in either in defence or midfield ?

Is this the best we can do ?

I wasn't expecting to have the Jack Stephens debate this early on in the season, but rest assured he is not good enough for Premiership and we have better players in the squad.

Good lad Diaz.
About time Saints use the dark arts like everyone else. We're a championship team, this is how we'll stay in the PL

If it was THB or JB putting their head in everyone would be saying that's what you get if you're going to be stupid like that. Geordie accented commentator out here is incensed by the "play acting". Hope Diaz scores now and gives it to the Geordie supporters

Sugawara is a great buy
He looks like a PL player

What an absolute horror show by McCarthy. He gives the ball away in penalty area and 1 pass it is in back of net.

If that is not a massive wake up call to sign a new keeper asap, we will be in trouble.

Everybody saw a goal like that coming from McCarthy.
Apart from RM apparently...

Silver lining that this will speed up getting a better goalie in

Have we actually had a shot?

Our best player has been the ref.

Don’t remotely look like scoring with Brereton stuck on the wing.

We have played quite well in patches without ever looking like scoring.

The red card hasn’t helped, as their crowd have been well up for it. You can’t hear our fans at all.

Will it though?
Cue Martin praising Alex being such a great professional and how we win together lose together and mistakes will happen but we play out because it works
Once again WE all knew what would happen but here we are no new keeper

What is it with simpletons like you and Saint22, that makes you think Russell Martin dosent want a new keeper! Of course he does.
