Leicester City won in 2016 after winning the league in an era of money in PL. Wales lost in Semi Finals you don't usually give awards if you fail.

Poll: Sholud Wales rollout vaccination at full speed.

Wales in 2016 was the greatest achievment in British football ever.

3.5 million people outgunned Belgium, Italy, mighty England, Spain, Holland with only home nation France and eventual winners doing better than us.
It will never be matched.

And the BBC picked Leicester City …. 🤣🤣🇬🇧

Obviously 1966 would be a consideration, but as Scotland beat them so easily at Wembley in 1967 then i think it tells you they got lucky with a tourno in their own back yard and a helpful Russian linesman. And only 6 nations took football seriously.

Leicester had a very rich man ploughing the money in.
You could have managed them and gone close.

The Cymru achievement was at a totally different level and in the global game.
3.5 million people and got to the last 4.
Never be surpassed.

Then again you could have a population of 5.1M and actually win it.

Can you tell me which 6 off the 16 competing nations only took it serious?

Uruguay, Brazil, Argentina, France, Germany, West Germany Spain, England Portugal, Hungary, Russia. The first 8 in list are all World Cup winners to give you clue.

I think the WALES team of 1958 getting to World Cup quarter Final is a far better achievement as back in 1958 only the top 16 countries actually qualified to get to the finals.

In 2016 24 teams qualified for the finals far easier.

Rubbish.

In 1966 there was only black and white tv.
Not many nations even had professional leagues.
No teams from Africa or Eastern Europe.
Little football in Asia and North America.

The winner could only be England, West Germany (not all of Germany), Brazil, Portugal, Argentina, or uruguay ?

Nobody else had a chance.
The Home Internationals were probably a better standard.

All world cups pre1970 should be expunged from the record books. Comparing apples and pears.

The home Internationals were a very poor standard played on awful pitches at the end of the season. Not sure why you put a ? after Uruguay they may have a smaller population than Wales but they have won the World Cup not finished 4th the second rate tier European Championship.

Home internationals were an excuse for Jocks and Welsh to have a good ruck and smash anything English . Some grew up ,others didn’t .

Well thats still only 6 serious contenders in 1966, the ? Was in case tgere were others.

Compare with the world game now.
In 2016 Iceland beat England, in 1966 England would have won 20-0.

Home Internationals saw the Scots match England over the full duration. Wales and the north of Ireland had their moments as well. 100 years of history thrown away for nothing. Well done to the FA.

George Best, Denis Law, the Tosh, and Larry Lloyd at Wrexham …. 🤣

This is your post to which I responded with my 5.1M and winning it comment. As you said global game, when in fact it was European not global. Denmark winning it with a population of 5.1M in 1992 is in my mind a far greater achievement than Wales getting to a semi final. Your comment "Greatest ever achievement in British football" was not mentioned in your post. Sometimes you need to think outside your single-mindedness before responding.

Chronology certainly not your strong point.

The context is the first quote which specifically and only says ‘British’.

Then for those ‘British’ teams only, what did they achieve in global terms…?

Your answer ‘Denmark’ suggests frankly that you are bit twp.
Maybe the internet isn’t for you ? 🤡
