And there he goes 19:43 - Apr 21 with 4279 viewsMattFinish

Just when you thought Mad Dog Ruben couldn’t surprise you, in comes Adam Armstrong from such obscurity I’d forgotten that he plays for us

Who is Selles going to pick next match to snub Tall Paul? Perhaps the fat lad on the burger van?

Credit to Selles I think he got most of that right. It looked like Alcaraz got a knock in the first half. The rejigged defence didn't give Arsenal a shot on target until the last 10 minutes. Tall Paul & Sullemana were an attempt to hold the ball up the pitch & it partially worked.

We were playing a top class team & it's not surprising that we tired towards the end.

If we keep playing like that we could pick up points against anybody.

We won’t tho will we
How we can turn up like that and then play the way we did against palace etc is just unforgivable

That's PL players for you. They are extra on it against the top teams for selfish reasons. They can't reach the same heights against the lower teams.

Alcaraz wasn't injured. Selles told SKY afterwards that he was subbed because he'd received a yellow card during the first half.

That’s absolutely bonkers. You can’t take your best player off at half time because just in case he might get a second yellow. Alcaraz was causing Arsenal all sorts of problems plus his header off the line just before half time probably saved us from defeat.
He’ll be gutted. What the F*** goes through Selles’s mind when he makes these decisions. Mara has been useless all season, has his best game against Man City, scores a good goal and hasn’t even made a substitute appearance since
Aribo hasn’t been anywhere close to the first team for ages then gets put up front for a vital 6 pointer against Palace.
Adam Armstrong hasn’t been near the first team and is suddenly picked last night. He was completely off the pace as you’d expect from someone who’s sat on the bench for ages
Maitland-Niles played at RB against Palace which pushed KWP out of position. M-N offered absolutely nothing going forward and was very poor defensively whereas Perraud played last night and had another great game.
These type of bewildering decisions are costing us big time
As we showed last night the team are good enough to avoid the drop but the manager isn’t

Agree, madness to take Alcarez off, the kid was in tears sat on the bench, Selles is a scared manager.

It’s actually worse than the tinkering we endured under Ralph.

I think all Saints fans seeing Alvarez taken off and shift to a back 5 were screaming wtf!

And against the league leaders when 2-0 up, and with them under massive pressure to win.

We set up that second half for them to attack and attack. We handed a point to them and, once again, screwed up a chance to get away from the bottom.

Poll: Should we try to replace Selles for the final seven games?

I can’t recall Alcarez fouling much in the first half so unless the ref had said to him and JWP that one more foul and it’s a red it’s a strange one. Surely Selles could have said to him to be careful but the decision to replace with Lyanco was too defensive and put us on the back foot. We needed to get up the pitch when we could and too many times the ball was cleared only for it to come straight back.

On another note. Arsenal are top going for the title but with 10 mins to go fans start to leave. And Arteta and the players seem to spend a lot of time and effort trying to generate some atmosphere trying to get the fans involved.

Did anyone see Alcarez on the bench? He looked very upset.
Scores one, creates one giving us a two goal lead, then gets substituted because hes on a yellow. You couldn't make it up.
Selles should take note of the SAS saying 'He who dares wins'

Crazy subs, take Alcaraz off at half-time (at least give him 15mins second half). Leave AA on who might as well not been playing, sit back and invite Arsenal on, so the Saints are under non-stop pressure, take off Lavia and bring on Diallo who is not up to speed and offers nothing Selles tactics cost us 2 points!

We haven’t won for 7 games, before that we were winning every 3rd or 4th game. We have 6 games left, can’t defend and seldom score. The squad isn’t really good enough, and the tactics seldom match the player’s abilies, let alone if anyone understands what they are supposed to be doing. I admire your optimism though.

Blind faith?

6 games to go. Let's see what the results are today. Many a team has pulled off a miraculous escape with pitch invasions etc. West Ham were something like 10 points adrift with only 8 games to go 06 / 07. They won at Old Trafford to survive on the final day. Dead and buried West Brom survived on the final (at our expense!) after being bottom for months. Unlikely, it's been a terrible season but you never know. I think we will know if we have a chance this time next week. We have to beat Bournemouth and let's see what happens with the other results.

It wouldn't surprise me if our Nick tells us about the wonderful performance the manager gave to enable us to come away with a draw, when he writes his game verdict.
Every supporter who watched the game knows that Selles was totally responsible for throwing away two valuable points. His tactics, team selections and substitutions were beyond stupid.
Surely Nick cannot support him after that display.......but , these days, one can never be sure. Just lately Nick has been coming out with as much rubbish as the manager.
