0.1 down
Fantastic strike. Ball into the box, their striker lays it back & it's an unstoppable strike into the roof of the net. Pity as it was an even game up to then with

1-1, Rodney scores
Ball into the box to Hendo who should probably have scored. However the keeper saves it & Rodney is there to slot home the rebound
Poor quality second half. However Rodney has just been put through on what would have been a 1 on 1 with the keeper and he is clearly pulled back by the defender. Somehow both the ref & linesman missed it

2-1 colchester, and what a howler by our keeper on Debut. Worse than anything O'Donnell has done this year FFS. speculative shot with no pace from 25 yards & somehow he fumbles it into the net

Big call to leave out ROD and it has backfired. What a shame.

ffs
Finished 2-1 and that error was the difference. We made a triple substitution late on and had started to look quite good, but that really knocked the stuffing out of us when at least a point looked on the cards. Gutting

A draw would've been a fairer result in tricky conditions against a tricky team. Restricted them to two shots, both of which they scored from. Unfortunately we mustered very little ourselves, particularly in a wretched second half. Got to wonder what it will do for morale to lose to a goal like that late on.

Can sort of understand why the keeper was brought straight in with O’Donnell being below par but to do it after three games undefeated is a strange one.
Similar with leaving John out and then moving Taylor to the left where he didn’t look comfortable having to play everything with his right foot.
Big call dropping ROD and it backfired horrendously. Easy to say in hindsight but unless he's carrying a knock I really don't get it. Once again 3 points were there for the taking at home and we come away with nothing.

Absolutely abysmal second half from the players and the manager
Quigley didn't touch the ball after coming on and him coming on forced Rodney out wide. Balls only contribution was to squander the best chance of the second half. Odoh was left on far too long after contributing nothing all game. We've brought a distinctly average keeper into the team after one training session.
We couldn't afford to lose that game. Its going to take a miracle to keep us in this division.

Unless there’s a good reason for it, that’s a dreadful decision after Tuesday evening. As said it could be a game changer as far as our season goes.

Too many changes to a winning team especially after a great second half at Bradford where it all seemed to click. If Seriki was injured, fine, replace him but leave it at that and keep the rest of the personnel and formation. Bringing in a new keeper two days after signing in order to upset a winning team is odd. We'll have to wait for Bentley's interview to see what the thinking was, or if there were any injuries we don't know about, but the management today would seem to have hindered our chance of following up a win and gaining some momentum. We last won on a Saturday 3 months ago.
Amazingly think that's nine home defeats now - we're just way too soft on our own patch and it may well cost us in the end. There's always an error, a set piece concession, or a late goal, and generally a weak underbelly. Arguably there's been only one decent performance at home all season, vs Barrow. We need to recruit some solidity asap - unfortunately the first recruit cost us the game today.

So does EBJ recall O'Donnell after that error? If O'Donnell had made he it he'd have been dropped for Eastwood, but now there's two keepers who're under scrutiny, not good at all. Not just hindsight but i agree the winning team should've started barring injury
First half was decent enough, but second, bloody awful - not a single attack until the subs were made and then a great chance squandered by Ball with a not unfamiliar pass to the keeper
All the hard work, all the momentum - lost, with an absolutely must not lose game at Hartlepool next up

There’s got to be an explanation for the changes and got to hope that those questions are put to the manager. Fans deserve to know the thinking behind the choices made.
Fully appreciate the situation Bentley has to deal with and there’s an obvious connection between fans and the manager willing him to succeed, but today was the first time there were decisions that have been made that really have to be questioned because they’ve cost us.
The new subs rule is also leading to issues. Managers are bringing in three at once to save a further two slots to use the full five subs; the amount of positional changes at that stage really did seem too many. Even if Ball did have that chance which could have made the difference.
Oh, and Quigley is so far away from being an asset at the moment. It’s as if we have a different player to the one that arrived in September.

That’s a good point about O’Donnell, we might all have been discussing his form but the last three games had made it much less of a talking point. It’s now put the subject on the table. Totally unnecessary.
Reminds me of when Hill was changing Lillis, Moore and Norman.

He's got to put O'Donnell back in. He knows he needed to do better, but to not restore him after today's error would imo be hugely demotivating
Eastwood is the loan keeper and knows he should have to wait his chance after today

Sounds like Seriki is an injury, but O'Donnell was a 'big call' that EBJ felt he had to make.
It’s shocking that he’s blaming the pitch, he needs to step up and take responsibility for changing the keeper. It’s the first time I’ve thought it but after listening to that interview I not sure these are the right people in the dugout to take this club forward. It’s a complete error by him for changing the keeper he needs to hold his hands up and not blame the pitch for the ball not bouncing.

Take it with a pinch of salt he wasn't going to blame himself or the players was he? What a manager really thinks will be aired in the dressing room.
