Just been sanctioned by the UK government. Now I assume that any follower of the filth buying tickets or anything associated with that lot will be breaking the law?

Poll: Where will Clive put QPR in his new season preview

Think he said he'd write it off when he put the club up for sale last week didn't he?

so its not such a great day after all?... The crippling debt accumulated in bankrolling all the trophies under the Russian 'businessman' will be gone instantly?.... Plus someone could in theory buy the club pretty much debt free?

But he also talked about "net profits" of sale. He didn't get rich by writing cheques.
On top of that, the Government are not going to be grabbing all his property and selling it as it would make them seem like governments in places like Zimbabwe.

Any scarves tied to the gate yet? Have Bury FC announced a bucket collection?

so what happens to all the money that chelsea owe Abramovich (is it £1.5 Billion)??? Will it be written off???

pure guess on my part but if Russia pull put of Ukraine I imagine sanctions are lifted and he can reclaim his money or sell the club. I could be completely wrong on that though

Not forgetting the suffering of the Ukranian people, I wonder whether the Chelsea crisis is the tip of the iceberg of a collapse at the top of the football pyramid and how clubs are funded. Everton are also in a state now they have lost their Russian backer and they are in a serious breach of ffp. The web of financial interconnectivity with Russian, Chinese and other less than straight sources at the top of the game could bring this giant ponzi scheme crashing down.

Well that's what he said he'd do IF he sold the club, obviously that's no longer happening. Quite what happens to those 'loans' now I really have no idea.

They can melt down all the trophies he has bought them in 18 years and sell them for scrap.

On the (also) bright side they cant sell any more of that hideous kit.

Does that mean that sports shops will have to take down all their stock of scum sh it?
I’d love to see a big pile of it on a bonfire in every high street in the country.

Think about it, once those badges are removed and everywhere is sanitised it would be perfect for us!
Add on the fact that there’s a great venue under the main stand, seen a few decent bands in there.

Fascinating news and I guess I should be feeling a wonderful sense of schadenfreude, but in reality I could only derive any real satisfaction if, or hopefully when the sanctions can ease the suffering of the desperate people of Ukraine.

Fair point and I do see that angle myself.

But taken in isolation, during a time when the news is so uniformly bleak, you have to admit this is fcuking beautiful! :)

No, No, No.
You need to sit on the thinking step for a little while.
You can sanitise all you like but you'll never get that smell out

Every club honour or trophy 'won' under the Abramovich regime should be rescinded, scrubbed and expunged from all records. Surely.

Been saying that for years but of course the various governments , the FA and the Prem League have all been persuaded to look the other way . So for me any trophies they have won since this guy has been the owner are null and void , bought with money stolen from the Russian people

No, raze it to the ground, then rebuild. But before rebuilding we all go down there to piss on the rubble. They can meanwhile reform in the Isthmian League and play at Kingsmeadow.

Abramovich has some pals who know how to do that. Apologies for black humour but these are strange days.

Not such a surprise, given we all knew from day one that Chelsea was acquired and operated with dirty money.
It’s the height of hypocrisy from this government to sanction him, when the Tories have also been bankrolled by the same dirt money.
Football and especially the PL was eating itself and perhaps this might be an opportunity to re-set the whole set-up from governance to financial probity (I live in hope). The fit and proper ownership test is farcical, we have allowed five clubs to almost drive the game into oblivion during COVID and now an acknowledgement that one club has build its years of success on corrupt and stolen money.
Personally, if Abramovich’s relationship with Putin has resulted in the murder of innocent Ukrainian people, I hope that shite club dives into oblivion-they would deserve it.

'Reviewing our position'
Chelsea's shirt sponsor has issued a statement in the wake of sanctions from the UK government against club owner Roman Abramovich.
A Three spokesperson said:“We are in discussions with Chelsea and we are reviewing our position.”

Loads of their fans crying foul on twitter. They have not even realised that all the successes of the past 20 years are now always going to have an asterisk next to them. If you decide to sell your soul to the devil that is what you get.

The last couple of weeks have seen a lot of stuff used against the democratic world thrown into reverse. Soviet Russia was a closed economy but we let them in to the free market which looked a mistake for years. Now the west has the power to freeze their assets and they have to close all their factories as they cant source semi conductors or even ball bearings as I understand it and their currency is in the bin.

They used bots and troll farms to stir up dissent for years- now they are scrambling to close their access to the internet down as news of their atrocities leak out at home.

They lived like kings in our city driving most of us out to live in the suburbs- but have gone to war with tanks that cant drive 30 miles without breaking down because the maintenance money was spent on yachts moored at Monaco and London property.

Sports washing was quite the thing (invented by one Roman Abramovich) but now you cock up and you may lose the sport/club - hence that terrifying Stavely woman describing this as 'sad'- she knows what this might mean in the future for the Saudis.

Fk the lot of them - the chelsea pitch owners can start staging the odd 5 a side from time to time.
