Are we up to our max allowable loan players?

Blimey, this is, on paper at least, a terrific signing!

That’s what I was trying to confirm, if loans at max then had to be permanent

This is a real signing looking at the lad's pedigree.
This Reading/Irish link looks to have paid off again. Ian Harte's agency?

The lad can certainly pick a pass out. Kelly, Morley and Grant should run rings around most league 2 teams.

Potentially, there was talk of another sale and a six figure sum. From the video he has similarities to both Morley and Grant.

Lets hope not.

Well if he could catch the team at Oxford he should be capable of a significant impact at this level. Age and experience wise this does hit the mark. Note he is described as a creative player, but suspect he is able to leave a foot in. You don’t get games at a championship level unless you have the stomach to get stuck in. This creates competition for midfield places which has been lacking. I reckon that’s the Rathbone money spent. If he is as good Ollie that will do for me.
Welcome Liam.

Edit:
Just seen the tape and he reminds me very much of Martin Ling who played for Southend and Swindon. Small, technically gifted, playmaker with an eye for goal.

This is a hell of a signing, just what we needed in the middle of the park...really looking forward to seeing him play, just might encourage others to stay put and sign new contracts also...Shows the club mean business in my eyes anyhow...

Poll: Hill in or out? 2nd referendum.....

5ft 4 ?
We need to leave him,Odoh and Cashman upfront when we are defending corners.

Its a BRILLIANT goal to cap a BRILLIANT start by Rochdale - Don Goodman 26/08/10

His wiki page says 178cm which is 5 feet 10 if that is to be believed.

You might have the wrong Liam Kelly. He is shown as 5ft 4”.
RS does seem to go for height extremes in his signings. There is over a foot between the tallest and shortest.

Mixed opinions from Oxford fans - this is typical:

He was on trial at Swindon earlier in the month, so presumably they were not interested.

Looks a good signing on paper certainly the experience in midfield we need as keohane can play their too. I’d be surprised if we sign anyone else now I’d like a right winger but that’s probably wishful thinking.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a League one club paying a 6 figure sum for Grant.

Without wanting to sound negative it seems such a good signing I’m left wondering how we’ve managed it!

By using some money from the Baah, Rathbone and Humphrys deals. Or from another one yet to happen.

Internet opinion via fans from his previous clubs is 'mixed'.

Lots of comments from Reading and Oxford fans on Twitter that suggest, ability-wise he’s Championship standard. It’s his application which lets him down. Still, excited to see him play!

He’s a free transfer, having been released. I would imagine he’s the highest (or one of) earner at the club now though.

After his HT talk on Saturday, I suspect Robbie may be the right man to hold his feet to the fire to get the best out of him of needed. He's got a 2 yr deal, so he owes RS.

Up the Dale - NOT for sale!

It seems to me that this is a lad who's career has gone off track after a more than promising start. He probably needs to be somewhere like Rochdale to reset his head and start to enjoy his football again. Clearly Feyenoord was, in hindsight, a costly mistake in career terms but now he knows he has 2 years to get back into the limelight and start to impress again. Good luck, if it works out Liam and RAFC will both do well.

Nice to see another perminent signing join the club.

Im hoping that his issues are behind him and RS gets the best from him...

It seems that Kelly likes to play with the ball on the ground and not huff ball..

Wonder how fit he is at present !

My all time favourite Dale player Mr Lyndon Symmonds
