Familiar story. Playing some nice football in midfield. Defence playing it around and generally solid, with the rider that a mistake is always on the cards.

Up front we offer very little. Dykes is working hard, but not getting into goalscoring positions. Bonne has the touch of a rapist.

What is so disappointing this year is what steps backwards that BOS and Chair seem to have taken. BOS was so exciting and dynamic last year but he has regressed quite a bit. We all still know he has it in him and once or twice a game he flashes it. But its just flashes and definitely not domination. As for Chair, all that talent and not much to show for it. He doesn't seem to know what to do with all his talent. He is tentative and once he gets near the box seems to be forever slowing down play and cutting it back when the goal beckons. Each game I think 'this is the game they are going to let go and show us what they've got' only to be disappointed. Argh!

Come on boys, this is the half to unleash the potential!

Agree that we've been hard-working and decently competitive, though I fear those long legs of Loftus the Cheeky or a desultory flick from that half-arsed, half-fit, out-of-form, poor man's-Berkovic Mitrovic could do for us any time. I'm not a Barbet fan, but he's had a decent game, with one excellent block on Mitroshit. One or two decent bits of approach play, but, seriously, can anyone remember a less effectual and more witless front two than Dykes and Bonne since, I don't know, 1975? If we're relying on them to slop into 16th for the umpteenth time, God help us. Meanwhile, we have little or no end product because they have little or no end product, or it seems no one from BOS, Chair, Carroll to Kane can deliver dangerous crosses more than once in a blue moon, or both. Which we've known for months now. In sum, we're trying hard, but there's not a lot more to add. I predict nil to us and whatever to them.

PS Just in passing, is there a more dour and untalkative bench than ours with Icebox man and his cohorts? it's supposed to be a game, guys. Sheessh!
