While I'm at it Kilk, how do you think an Indy Wales will do in rejoining the EU considering we'd have to answer the same questions Sturgeon has trouble with, the CFP isn't such a big issue really but we'd have to have a hard border with England and join the Euro.

Probably half the countries around the world have a land border with neighboring countries. I'm not aware of chaos where that applies. And they also manage to trade perfectly well with those neighbours. |  | | |

You do know that if we went indy we'd have to take on our percentage of that debt? We'd be over 100 billion in debt from the outset.
PS, on the previous post, we are not 100% aligned with EU rules, some of our standards are higher than the EU, workers rights for one. Once Brexit negotiations are done we possibly won't be aligned on so very much, how soon do you see Wales going Indy? More or less than 10 years? |

The national debt is incurred by all of us in the UK. It's the UK governments debt. Wales has a share.
The average market price of a litre of water is actually 0.1p so we'd be much better off, around Β£6000 per person,assuming the Welsh government nationalised water. Also assuming the English didn't respond by building a few massive reservoirs.
Of course from that 6000 per head you need to pay wages and running costs so it wouldn't be quite the windfall you might think. Still it could make indy a financial possibility. I'd still prefer to be in the UK than leave and try to join the EU though. | |

Another thing that I ponder, is the fact nearly everyone of these Welsh Nat's/independence lot seems to belong on the Corbyn side of the fence. Very left-wing wanting higher taxes!
Now punishing taxes will hit the very middle class that belongs to the elite of public service provision i.e. doctors, dentists, specialists, clinicians, consultants etc. Not only that there are many other talented professionals in the upper echelon of civil engineering, science, technology, private sector, big business etc, etc, etc i.e. Individuals extremely hard to replace.
If there were to be a Corbyn-esque devolved Wales raising taxes to punishing levels way above that of England? It would be only natural to assume that there would be large scale movement out of Wales.
That would cause a tax revenue deficit meaning even higher taxes to be paid from the very people least able to afford to do so. And not only that, staffing shortages in vital services the people of Wales can least do without. The trouble is England is only a bridge/short distance away as opposed to an entire ocean. |  |

Clearly there is a deal to be done on the 4 freedoms.
It will be agreed and working by the time Wales gets there.
I suspect many will want to work in the EU and england will face the brain drain.

Will Wales meet the Copenhagen criteria? We probably won't meet the financial criteria alone.
