Sorry mate but you can’t blame the owners for a bunch of nimbys.

Hmmm, NIMBYs, a nuisance or convenient smokescreen? Hopefully the former but i’m not convinced. We’ll see I guess.

Green Party wades into Warren Farm on 15:24 - Aug 2 by w7r | It probably does suit the owners to some extent, which to me indicates they may be cooling on the idea. If they really are intent why aren't they making noises about it and getting the work started? The new TG was being trumpeted as one way to make the club more attractive to young talent, enabling us to develop and sell on for a profit, if I remember correctly that was being spoken of as key component to our future, self-sustaining business model. |
We can all speculate until the cows come home but there is no actual evidence that our owners "may be cooling on the idea". Whether a situation suits someone or not is no reflection of how that person thinks. The two things are separate. I hope it does get built but it is trying my patience too.

It makes no sense for our owners to delay this.

agreed but putting the first fecking spade in the ground is now dragging out. Surely the only impediment (skylarks) have moved on. We need to sneak in 1 evening and just start.

I agree. The club should have started working on it as soon as they got the green light at the latest appeal. Instead they have sat on it and I too am beginning to wonder if the owners still want to go ahead with it. the artical mentions financial difficulties, but I thought the owners were billionaires. If they want this TG then please get on with it. as a poster mentioned, it was supposed to be built to help the club develop players and help make it a self funding club non reliant on wealthy owners. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

indeed, but why let knowledge get in the way of a good whinge? it is incredibly frustrating, but all legal challenges are exhausted - even this latest article is someone just asking Amit to reconsider, which isn't happening. Even once it's got the green light, there are lots of surveys etc to be completed. I'm sure it won't be long now.

We're being watched so closely it would be an act of stupidity to start without first completing all the necessary surveys just so TF can have a picture with a shovel to keep the fans happy. SWF would use it to hold everything up again.

Green Party wades into Warren Farm on 13:06 - Aug 2 by Dorse | You, Sir, have nailed it. If we can get a decent, sustainable design in place that is sympathetic to the natural setting and could even act as an exemplar to other architects and developers, I think we would actually provide what it is they think Warren Farm should be. The whole 'Garden City' thing put forward by the Government a few years back never really took off but a project of this type could actually kick start a planning revolution. Architects have been proposing vertical horticulture (not 'uphill gardening', you filthy beasts) and green walls / roofs for years: why not show how it could actually work? |
Agree. The above (and Kropotkin's thoughts too) are excellent points; the sort of proposal that needs to be initiated by the QPR side of this argument, before the initiative is lost. After all, it's a training ground that we're trying to build, not a chemical works or an aluminium smelter. There's plenty of opportunity to have a discussion about what opportunities the environment around the TG could offer the wildlife. The key point to underline publicly is the training ground will happen, that fight has been long, hard and won. The next discussion needs to be how we could be a model for sustainable and green development.

I'm coming to the conclusion that maybe we should just build a chemical works there and be done with it.
Green Party wades into Warren Farm on 13:49 - Sep 10 with 2274 views | 18StoneOfHoop | HELP SAVE WARREN FARM Queens Park Rangers football team are being given the land of Warren Farm on a 200 year lease, and from this month of September they can begin work any day now. They have a landfill scheme planned and various 'regeneration' schemes which will involve a delivery truck of waste arriving at the site every four minutes for the next eight months. This will already cause inconvenience on the local roadways, and traffic is hit hard from the butterfly effect. This traffic will affect the whole constituency. There will also be dust suppressant sprays used regularly over the site, which will negatively effect the surrounding allotments and parks. That's just the landfill, there's no question of the training ground site itself. The issues with which you are probably familiar with by now as I'm sure you're getting regular emails about this issue. I'm sure you'll agree with me that this is an environmental issue, considering the vast arrays of endangered animals and plants captured on the @HanwellNature twitter account and the various efforts made by the Hanwell Nature group, and other similar local environmental protection groups such as the Ealing Wildlife Group, to log the wildlife that undoubtedly resides on the site. I've heard stories from when you or a representative of you appeared at a public inquiry regarding this issue and failed to mention the fact that Warren Farm is a public right of way. This is an abbreviated letter (I think Carolyn Brown wrote) to @StevePoundMP. He responded with the usual dilligence, I need to get back to him actually. [Post edited 10 Sep 2019 14:08]

Green Party wades into Warren Farm on 11:53 - Aug 2 by MedwayR | Utter drivel. "handed over 61 acres of prime Metropolitan Land (Green Belt) to QPR Football Club for free" - We have to provide, through the construction and maintenance of, community sports facilities. That's not free. "billion-pound football club" but also "financial pressures at QPR Football Club" - Can't be both can it. "violated the terms of Metropolitan Open Land, contravened the Mayor’s London Plan, and was condemned by local and national environmental groups" - Yet the courts, at every single level, agreed with Ealing Council's decision. "These objections were swept aside with a combination of Ealing Council’s assistance and the expensive legal firm that QPR employed and unfortunately the poor people of Ealing didn’t stand a chance." - Save Warren Farm took it to court, not Ealing Council or QPR. They lost every time but kept going back for more. Can't plead poverty and poor little me now. Did they expect QPR's legal firm to be a bunch of nobodies. "Due to the dilapidated state of Warren Farm and the complete neglect by Ealing Council since the ‘sale’" - Since the sale?!? It was neglected long before that. “Given that we are at a time of decimation of wild species across the world, it is so exciting to see how quickly nature bounces back when spaces are left to rewild.” - So the 1/3 of Warren Farm that won't be used for QPR or community facilities will be left to become wild yes? I doubt it, I expect the dog walkers etc will want to use the space. "dump 180,000 cubic metres of “Landfill” on to the natural habitats" - Nice use of "dump" and "landfill" to make it sound like we'll be fly-tipping and dumping waste on the site when it'll actually be excavated earth in order to level the site. "For the sake of the future of all the country’s wildlife, Warren Farm’s current flourishing wildlife, and the air that we all breath: I urge you Christopher Lee of Populous Architects, you QPR Chairman Amit Bhatia, you Julian Bell of Ealing Council, and you Sadiq Khan Mayor of London to reconsider." - Just pathetic. |
Excellent riposte old man.

Based on the site being open 8am to 6pm, five days a week, for eight months, that would be 15 lorries an hour, 150 lorries a day, 750 lorries a week, somewhere north of three and a half thousand lorries a month, somewhere north or 28,000 (twenty eight thousand) lorries over the course of the build. Even if it were true, which I agree it isn't, just go down there any day of the week and see how many cars go down that road at the moment in an hour - its a lot more than 15 I can tell you. They are trying to paint the picture that its some kind of leafy country lane, as opposed to a relatively busy London road, like all the others in the area! If worried about effects of cars/lorries, probably not a good idea to live about 10 miles from the centre of one the biggest cities in the world!

And if it wasn't done, they'd be moaning about dust. Huge housing estate being built next to ours atm and to be honest it's a pain in the ars, constantly changing road layouts and long winding trips through a building site to get to our front door, but one thing they have been very good at is keeping the place and the roads very clean. Haven;'t had a problem with dust or muck at all which is quite something given the scale of it.
