China needs to play its part 10:13 - May 23 with 3618 viewsdickythorpe

All this bunkum in the UK about switching to "bags for life", "paper straws" (trees are alright now then?)

We are a population of 65 million, whilst they dwarf us, so what chance have we got?

It makes little difference whether Climate Change, Global Warming or whatever you want to call it is a massive scam or a threat to the survival of most environments on Earth.

Truth is that mankind is generally a dirty, wasteful species and if it takes a manufactured threat to get them acting in a suitable manner then I'm all for it.

Less emissions, less plastics, less waste. That's something to aspire to regardless.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

Well, as a species we either work out this is legit and fix it ourselves, or the planet will fix it for us and eradicate us like bacteria dining on antibiotics.

The cull is coming whether youre responsible for it or not.

Since the “industrial revolution” 😂 That is nothing more than a blink off an eye, in evolutionary terms. What caused the last ice age ? Definitely wasn’t humans. The so-called global warming is just a con. Yes the planet warms up and cools down all the time and what we see now is just another cycle.

All this defeatist shit about anything we do being irrelevant because China or the US is bigger really gets on my man boobs. There is nothing, absolutely nothing, more important than passing the planet on to the next generation as we found it. We are custodians and irrelevant in the big scheme of things.

That's a mighty contradiction right there.

Exactly, arguing about climate change is to miss the point, there are huge issues with pollution and environmental damage that can not be denied and need addressing.

It's not a massive scam. But you're right with a minor tweak - it doesn't matter whether people believe or not, etc..... Yep we're dirty and wasteful. It's common sense that we should use resources more carefully and tidy up after ourselves, irrespective of what people think of climate change.

I don't disagree, Loh, I believe she's incredibly sincere and cares. I'm well aware of Aspergers.

I also believe her views have stemmed for the most part from her parents, certainly in the initial stages and that cynical or not, the messages resonates on an emotional basis more from Greta based upon her circumstances than from her parents.

Better than getting her views from Guido I suppose

We all get views from somewhere. Even you up there on your high horse probably have a bit of your parents in you.

Democracy->Socialist policies->spending tomorrow’s money->economic pressure to increase population, either by internal or external means->less resources per person->lower standards of living->extinction event/population collapse/reset

We’re on this trajectory regardless of China or plastic bags.

It’s a scam in the sense that governments around the world are declaring an emergency and using it as an excuse to tax the living daylights out of everyone and everything, then using the money raised for something else such as peacekeeping carpet bombing missions in the Middle East.

If there was a genuine will to do something about it they could, but the oil lobby still rules all.

Over populated, over commercialised.

It's too late the damage is done and will continue until we eventually move to Mars , then the same problems will occur there as they did there.

There may even be a Vetch Field on Mars give it a few centuries, so not all doom and gloom.

The sun is going to explode in millions of years so by the time we sort humanity out it will be too late.

Of course as in most cases it is likely that the answer lies somewhere in the middle, but who can disagree with Dr W (on this at least). Perhaps we need to put as much effort into deconstruction of our waste materials as we do into construction of the materials in the first place. Better still use less.

Perhaps it is about the world getting bigger again just as it grew smaller. Less globalisation more self sufficiency, seasonal produce etc.

Applying a little metacognition it may be those that somehow think in 2019 we have come to know all there is to know and that all we believe is correct, that are possibly more accurately aligned to the flat earthers.
