Swansea and Cardiff 09:25 - Jan 26 with 4470 viewsthornabyswan

There used to be lots of players who would switch from one club to the other.

David Penney is the main one that springs to mind for me as he was our captain at the time.
Tony Bluebird and Jimmy Gilligan are the 2 that spring to mind for moving the other way.

Loads. From Ivor Allchurch to Mel Charles, Curt, David Giles etc

Swansea Indepenent Poster Of The Year 2021. Dr P / Mart66 / Roathie / Parlay / E20/ Duffle was 2nd, but he is deluded and thinks in his little twisted brain that he won. Poor sod. We let him win this year, as he has cried for a whole year. His 14 usernames, bless his cotton socks.

Unfair to call Tony Bird that. He got smacked on a night out in cardiff for being a Jack. He did really well for us imo.

We used to call him that at the time.
Remember him scoring on his debut for us down the Vetch.
Good days though even though both sides were pretty dire really.
I always wanted us to sign Phil Stant just to pi$$ them lot off.
Easily pleased then though.

Pretty sure than Linden Jones the fullback from Merthyr switched clubs, came to Swansea in a community role.

One person that made the move albeit not as a player was Frank Burrows, great manager for the Swans, Cardiff and a number of other clubs. Never met him, but came across as a really tidy guy.

Edit- correction.

When we were banned from ninian ( oddly just when they were getting it back ) Dai Thomas ran the length of the home stand kissing his Swansea badge the night we beat them 3-1 at Ninian. Steve Jones score that night too. Great player.
