If Dan James gets sold ... 19:48 - Jan 24 with 31283 viewsSwans_16

... I will not be renewing my Season Ticket.

The full intent of the owners will be visible for all to see if it goes through.

It's quite hideous how thick some Swans fans are.

Unbelievable

Really

So the club dont want to sell....so why sell just becasue there is a firm offer on the table?
Dan doesnt wnat to go....so why does he have to go?

SO we get the £10M .....where is the next Dan James?
Who is waiting in the current U23s to fill the void?
IF Dyer and Routs go too where does that leave us then?
We already know how highly you rate Asoro

Suspect we are hanging on hoping to exit Bony, Nasingh or Fer and only letting James go if we cannot get one (at least) of those out.

But by Christ mun at least be fair here

Who would've thought for one second the club would've got a bid of 10m for one of our kids???

It's easy to say, no, it's just pathetic to look at how events unfold and then pass holier than thou comments, and especially in the industry of football.

You either predict these things at the start or you shut up, and this isn't specific to you, there's loads of literally pathetic stuff coming out daily on here.

Now the situation we've got now is one we couldn't really have envisaged in August and whilst Dan has always wanted to stay he's now got a firm offer which HE needs to consider EVERY MUCH as the Club.

The Club don't want to sell and Dan doesn't want to go but things have now materially changed and that's because a firm offer is now on the table. This has to be weighed up ALL ROUND

And for every so called fan using this as another stick to beat the club up with well shame on you.

You're no real fan of SCFC and to be honest, in some ways, it will be good to get back to the real hard core fans only on board again and we'll see you all in years to come when we get success again

Pathetic

Res, that’s a hell of a meltdown.

He doesn’t want to go
Club don’t want to sell him

Does £6m plus addons change that? Yes, he’s raw and unproven, he’s also one of the best prospects we’ve had for years.

If he was being sacrificed to bring in 2 or 3 players in positions that need strengthening, I could accept it. If he does go, and let’s be clear, he hasn’t gone yet and may well not, then I think it’s fair to assume it won’t be to give Potter £6m to shape his squad.

We’ve had this discussion about ‘club’ before. Of course I’m a fan of the club. Being an utter sycophant towards Jenkins, Kaplan etc doesn’t make you a bigger fan of the club than people who are prepared to criticise them for the financial basket case they’ve turned SCFC into. Quite the opposite really.

I feel the guy is in a delusional ever decreasing group who think that the Yanks / sellouts / both are in any way good for the club.

So far as has been reported only Leeds have shown any interest.
Am I the only one who thinks this is odd?

Are you suggesting someone has made a phone call to Leeds to say "We've got this lad here. Take a look at him and make us an offer. We'll pretend to haggle but he's yours if you want him" ?
Or else Dan and his agent saying he want to stay then contacting Leeds on the sly ?
As you say, not queuing at the door are they ?

He’s far more valuable to us than bigger teams at the moment. He’s in and around our first team. He wouldn’t be at many PL teams

PL clubs usually wait a bit longer before approaching young Championship talent. Brooks, Mepham etc. needed a full year at this level before the bids came in.

Leeds are trying to get him “on the cheap” this year rather than wait for his price to double if he improves again next season. A big gamble for them, but the payoff could be enormous either in talent or profit when they sell him on.

For the same reason, we should not sell him now imo.

I'm no sycophant, you couldn't get someone more polar opposite to a sycophant, trust me

I'm a realist, there's a huge difference

And the realism here shouldn't need explaining.

But once again

Hypothetically a future offer for one of our players is just guesswork, all if's, but's and maybe's

But when it's on the table it needs to be weighed up against EVERYTHING.

And I mean everything

The club have got a situation to deal with and it's not just a case of
Planet Swans mongs say one thing so it must be true, there's a real world out there with debt, administration and a football club going out of existence.

Also it needs to be weighed up against who's staying and who we can potentially shift. A lot is going to hinge on this factor, and largely this is out of our control.

So this will go down to the wire, most likely and difficult on the spot decisions will need to be made and some, naturally, we're going to get wrong. I know that's an alien concept in the perfect facking world most seem to live in on here but there you go.

And then in addition to all this you've then got the young human being who's being offered a doubling of his wages and his thoughts go from a super comfortable life to buying a little yacht.

Don't be so pathetic to just see things as black and white. That's just showing how incapable of a thought process you have.

You're all out of time....the past was yours but the future's mine.

One thing that's going to bug me through all this news.

Is that Leeds are paying us £10m, the likelihood of getting these "add ons" would probably be unlikely, and even if so, would probably be years from now.

I'm not getting this James deal, Fer I can understand, Bony, I can definitely understand, but selling James doesn't sit right with me at all. I still have hope it won't happen with that Leeds journalist saying they could walk away. We may not have expected to shift Bony, and now that's happening, it has balanced the books enough for DJ to stay.

I would imagine a big chunk of addons would be payable on promotion. If not then that's the first response we should be giving them.

Some deals for young players include ridiculous long term stuff but Leeds are on the verge of a potential massive windfall and want DJ to help reach that target. Any addons have to be based on that.

Although it would put an interesting spin on our game in a couple of weeks if derailing their promotion campaign could cost us £2m+

I know it's easy for me to sit here and say "£10m up front or f*ck off", but I don't see where we are going when we start flogging our youngsters. For me, it goes against what the Owners said at the start of the season.

Also wouldn't surprise me one bit if we get a Leeds capitulation, they have form.

Genuinely mate, you’re a sycophant. I honestly couldn’t imagine the owners doing anything you wouldn’t defend. Once you start giving balanced views I’ll revise my opinion.

The absolute reality is we’re now paying for the series of mistakes they have made over the last couple of seasons. Hopefully it doesn’t come down to selling our brightest prospects early.

Yes, it’s all ifs and buts, yes they may turn Leeds down, Dan May turn Leeds down or Leeds may walk away. I’d be delighted with the first, not much less with the second or third,

Let me ask you, if we do end up selling for £6m, £10m whatever, what would you expect to happen to the funds? Put towards team strengthening, paying for incompetence or something else.

Last thing, I don’t blame DJ for any of this, if he ends up wanting to go, I think most of us could understand that.

Sheff Utd sold Brooks, Norwich sold Maddison, Leeds sold Viera... sometimes it's a step backwards to keep moving forwards.

But when they capitulate and we go up through the playoffs we can buy DJ back for peanuts in the summer. Make them an offer half their valuation and then get snippy and threaten to walk if they don't accept right away.

It's like they think they're still a big club or something.

A few days ago you was saying you wouldn't be happy with James being sold?

Now you're trying to justify it?

If Dan James gets sold ... on 15:36 - Jan 29 with 1805 viewsAustinIsOurHero

Several issues I have from his entire story:
1. Why are Leeds acting like they call the shots? They want our player - they can either pay up or f**k off.
2. Even if we accept a bid from them, has DJ even indicated, let alone aid he want's to go? Posters on here saying he's keen on the move, make him put a transfer request in then if he want's to go.

We shouldn't even be entertaining selling DJ if we can get Bony off the books.

I wouldn't be happy about it if they paid us £20m. Watched the lad since u18s. The u23s have been a better watch than the seniors for the last couple of seasons. These kids coming through are as much Swansea City to me as any first team player. Probably more.

But I'd understand it. Most people aren't as big fans of DJ as I am. £10m is a lot of money to a Championship club, even one without our pressing financial issues.

There's no contradiction here.

A few million plus add-ons? Presumably one of those add-ons will be if Leeds get promoted, which we'll be doing our best to prevent should we meet them in the Play-Offs.

I've watched from early door too.
Do you think he has improved much over and above what you'd expect from a youth becoming a man?
At under 18 I thought he go into great places but fluffed shots and final pass - got a little over excited.
I think he still does.
Very exciting and draws defenders but I would have hoped for more.
