Batshuayi for Llorente? on 10:56 - Jan 7 by TheResurrection

The deal makes sense to me.

Costa is numero uno there and probably the best striker in the division. So the young Belgian isn't going to get picked instead of him any time soon, barring injury, which he's probably waited for most of the first part of the season.

Batshuayi is also desperate to play at his age and is too good to be sat in anyone's stands.

Llorente on the other hand only came to Swansea to boost his retirement fund and for the majority of his time with us it's looked just like that. He may get a 2 year deal there that would eclipse what we're paying plus the odd game and medal. Sounds perfect for him.

I can imagine Chelsea being very keen on someone who can do the odd job off the bench or in an emergency for them so will want the deal. The problem we may have is would the youngster want to come here for a few months...?!

Lastly, the naivety on this message board knows no bounds sometimes.

It may also help us to take points of Chelsea's rivals for the league. It's a win win for Chelsea.

These sort of deals are always tricky to complete but we shoukd be pulling out all the stops to get it done. Batshuayi with Gylfi just behind is a top 6 attacking pairing. A good attacking left back, a big strong center back and a winger and we will have a good chance of staying up.

Palace don't have Lorente as bait though.

I've just read that Batshuayi is starting for Chelsea tomorrow as confirmed by Conte. What that signals I don't know.

He's probably been promised this game since the draw.

How he does in it may decide his immediate future though.

I think I'd rather keep Llorente and add A N Other

If Palace also want him he'll probably prefer that as it would mean him staying in London, be fantastic he does come here though, bags of pace, skill and can score.

Can't you only loan one player from the same PL club in a season?

Palace already have Remy from Chelsea if so

When Costa was suspended on boxing day, Batshuayi didn't even start then. They played Bournemouth.

I think it's fair to say he's not currently in Conte's plans

I do beg to differ slightly. Glyfi behind is not doing too much in the final 3rd,probably down to poor tactics in fariness, but he is keeping his place in the team by the fact his set piece play is probably top 6 in the premier league, other aspects of his game have suffered due to poor positional play, lack of movement and constant runnning around trying to close down.

I hope with a more fluid player that will change but we didnt really see it with Borja either, hopefully Paul Clement will look at this aspect more closely.

As for the swap deal, im not sure. Llorente is finally starting to show his class and with top coaching at the club we may get a lot more improvement, i havent seen enough of the other guy to know if he could play up on his own, no doubt the boy is a class player if at Chelsea but its another gamble.

Do we stick or twist ? i suspect if there is any truth in the story, Llorente will want to leave but the other guy may not fancy the trip down west to a bottom 3 team .

Im just not sure which way this one will go .

He's not doing much good due to our some what poor centre mid, centre back and a centre mid are a must this window.

Slightly concerned we are sacrificing our only proven goalscorer, but it's one of those deals that could pay off massively.

Likely to make Gylfis job easier. As long as he hits the ground running I'm sure he would improve us. If Clement wants to play the short, sharp passing game, he needs mobility as well as power up front.

Can certainly see why it makes sense to both clubs and both players

Judging we were in for him before, I'm guessing this is a Jenkins transfer :P

Yes, but will Llorente be on the substitutes bench?

I'm undecided on this one - it's one of those deals where either outcome could be good for us.

He might be our top goalscorer but hes hardly kept us out of the mess we're in with his goals. To be fair to him though I bet hes never had so little service all throughout his career whilst here and such a poor defence.

This Batshuayi is a beast though with fire in his belly and will be busting a gut to show what he can do down here if we get him and will make things happen. If I was a centre half id much rather face the ageing ambling Llorente than a hungry Batshuayi.Strange move Chelsea wanting Llorente though, if true.

I'm guessing you don't appreciate where we would be without his goals, his goal threat at the very least.

I do agree about Batsuahyi though. I think it's a gamble, but probably one worth taking. He could ignite us.

Would depend which type of centre half you were.

Chelsea want Llorente as backup. They would rather have Batshuayi playing Prem games and getting used to their league than being Costas understudy. Probably makes sense for both players.

Because most people would understand we are a point plus goal difference off safety and without a competent centre forward would be cut adrift.

I assumed you were joking.

No mate I was being serious. We're still in the shit with Llorente scoring occasionally. He's never been prolific whereas Batshuayi has.Llorente chips in now and again but his goals has earned us 6 points in 20 games.2 wins against Sunderland and Palace.

That's 40% of our points. We'd be more or less down if we'd lost to Palace and drawn with Sunderland. Not convinced McBurnie is ready yet and Borja hasn't really got going.

I'm not knocking Batshayi at all. I'm in favour of this deal, but do think there is a risk in letting him go, he will get the odd goal and will occupy centre backs. I think Batshuayi could potentially be a game changer, but it's an unknown quantity. He may struggle like the highly rated Borja has.

Let's hope Borja stakes his claim today
