Season Tickets 20:22 - Nov 11 with 9579 viewsshandyjack

Having a very tweetersation with Leigh dineen and he seems to be alluding that the season tickets won't be going up. Not sure how to post the links on here but if someone who isn't blocked by him wants to copy and PST on here for others to see then please feel free.

Basics are that he asked why I think tickets will go up when they haven't since we've been promoted.

If we take the Cardiff model, the season ticket owners this season have been shafted due to the free ticket concessions, so if we were relegated, don,t buy any season tickets and wait for offers which will follow.

Not really. The free tickets available haven't been enough to undercut the ST prices.

Well that may well be, but is it worth buying a season ticket, especially when you can't fill the stadium?.

I cant speak for the coming season as all I know is that there will be no increase in season ticket prices but with previous seasons there was no plans to reduce the price in the event of relegation

It couldn't happen I don't think as people will be renewing in December

Nothing stopping the club issuing a refund of however many £ difference in the event of relegation to those who have purchased season tickets surely?

Other than the unwillingness to do so obviously.

Nothing at all bar the last part which could end up being the overriding factor - the argument that will be given will be "you get 19 games for x in the PL, so £x per game, but you get 23 games for the same x in the Championship so £y per game"

Not saying that is how it should be but I would say that is how it will be

I talked to Chris Pearlman about this when I met him and stated that season ticket sales year on year in December I would imagine will be down considerably

I see both sides to the renewal factor discussed - don't renew until you see the plans but for many they will renew anyway which means it makes sense for them to renew at the cheapest price

... and, if we're relegated, there are 4 more home league games... win win?
Or lose win?

It's just the internet, init.

That 19 games in the PL v 23 games in the Championship argument falls down though when you consider there was no price reduction for the 4 fewer games when we got promoted (that I can recall anyway).

I don't disagree with you just throwing in the arguments that have been used before on these

Its a shame we couldn't retain the situation of pay cuts for players in their contracts in the event of relegation

Don't think we're allowed under Trading Standards rules to say or imply we're playing football.

I wouldn't worry too much about that as any of the decent EPL class players we have will offski anyway, maybe even some of them bailing in January. Can anyone blame them? Or those for choosing not to renew under this current regime?

I couldn't bring myself to bite, mainly because I thought, no of course we wouldn't. Players and agents simply wouldn't put up with it, so it probably stopped as soon as we had to negotiate any new contracts/transfers whilst in the PL. Plus our fan owners wouldn't have given a toss of course as they were just desperate to cash in as soon as they could, so not their problem.

Why would we be surprised?

We are on the shitcart to destruction. Hopefully we can bounce and stabilise like Norwich rather than turn into a walking corpse like Blackburn, or worse, but I can't say I'm full of hope.

The way it's been going on and off the pitch there is absolutely nothing to suggest we will stabilise like Norwich. They had and continue to have intent. We've become a cash cow.

This could b far worse than the fall in the 80s in many respects. Not least the fact then that we didn't have a pot to,piss in whereas today there's the guaranteed PL money. What is going on is tantamount to robbery. The football club, the city and the fans all being robbed blind and for some reason some still think if they sit back it will be ok! The multimillionaires are rats! And wher ever and wherever possible must be outed for what they've done!

Judging by the way people are not buying matchday tickets for tomorrow, I'd say the bubble has burst

Not a glamour game, but we've sold out every game since we've been in the PL. You'd think people would come to watch the [potential] horror show.
