With the lack of news lately makes me think that Curtis will be put in charge, the board are probably waiting for the summer where they can approach alot more managers who will have their own transfer targets and pre season providing we stay up.

Would appear to definitely be Curtis. Club directors etc very quiet on Twitter and forums since the EP and W.Mail started these stories.

I've been away from the internet for a couple of weeks, and was under the impression that Curtis was doing a good job. Logging back onto this site, it's seems I've been mistaken.

He's done a great job in filling the void, but it's pretty obvious he himself doesn't want the job and isn't the answer moving forwards.

It appears ludicrous that a man who has presided over 1 win in 5 games and has said repeatedly he doesn't want the job is on the verge of being given it. Absolute mess.

It is and at the current rate of a point a game under Curtis it will go right to the wire.

I get the impression that he would happily do until end of season but the guy has been in and around coaching staff for years and has never been deemed suitable for role, yet somehow he is now wanted to manage the club in the toughest of circumstances in the hardest league in world - a year after he took a step back from hands on involvement.

Under Monks reign we had 14 points from15 games.
But only 6 from the last 11 and some woeful displays.
Curtis is doing ok and with a bit of luck could have got draws at both Man City and Man Utd and beaten West Ham.
Why dont the board offer him some help they were prepared to do that for Monk.
Whats the difference?

Not ludicrous at all.......what would you do in the circumstances Huw is in....we aint got any dosh to pay a new manager, let alone give him anything that resembles a transfer kitty.

Now who does Huw know that could be our next manager ? got to be cheap, knows the club, won't demand a transfer funds we haven't got, will allow me to run things my way, the fans will accept, players respect cause he's easy going, and a thoroughly nice guy.

Step forward Mr Allan Curtis.......I'd be absolutely astounded if it isn't

I agree but it doesn't appear the board can find/afford anyone who ticks all the boxes. The only thing I find surprising about this thread is that people seem surprised. I've assumed for some time that Curtis will be in charge until the end of the season. I think we've been over ambitious going on such a public trip to S. America & interviewing current and ex managers of of Chile, Argentina etc when people like Lucie Favre is unemployed. The first thing any new manager would want is to spend money on new players and I get the feeling we don't have a lot of money to spend.

This manager business is a red herring as far as I'm concerned.

The most important thing is that we add some players in January. Manager position can be reassessed then. I wouldn't expect some big announcement about curtis. The official line will be that we are actively looking

If that was the case what is HJ waiting for? Give Curt the job !!

I think HJ is waiting on a couple of deals with Curt being plan C or D if it doesn't come off.

Curt is the cheap high risk option ... for me the wrong move !

If they give curt the job and it's a disaster come the middle of next month I expect they'd want to be able to appoint someone with the sole job of keeping us up. That would involve sacking and undermining curt - would be easier just to say "we've finally got our man... Ladies and gentlemen, Mr Malky Mackay. Cheers for the caretaker job Al, back to the normal job with ya"

Curtis wouldn't have problem reverting back to his role at the club. From his comments he is standing in filling the void while the club sort this out. I think he would even prefer this course of action takes place. The club have seconded him has manager and they don't need to sack him.

You asked what Huw was waiting for and said that they should give him the job. They have given him the job. Of temporary manager, caretaker manager, call it what you will. He will be in charge of the club until a permanent one is appointed.

My point is that if they come out and confirm its curt until the end of the season and they have to make a decision to get someone else in if results take a nosedive - eg someone like Poyet or Pearson for instance purely to maintain our status this season and with no thought beyond May- they are going to make themselves look stupid by sacking another manager or at least back tracking on the appointment until the end of the season.

Whereas if they maintain the status quo and they want to get someone else in at a later stage, they can without undermining curt publicly.

Of course they may have told Curtis and the players all this and if they have then there should be no uncertainty in the camp, fans aside

Surely the owners of 21% of the club should have clarity that this is the course of action that the board are taking?

They have announced him as interim manager which normally implies short term. If Curt is to remain interim for a longer term then say so.
