They could just flatten it, grass it over and put a play area on it. Then call it Burnden Park.

One quick look on social media and you can see fans of the new AFC bury arguing with people who would support the 'original' bury back at gigg. I can only see a 'bury' making it work back at gigg if the entire original fanbase is behind it.

I’m sure it will become public once the sale is completed… I can’t see AFC Buckets buying it… they are pretty much a Sunday league side in the same division as Bacup Borough.. the running costs of a ground that size would need significant investment for many years just to keep it going before anyone could even think of getting anything back on the investment.. Saying that.. Macclesfield did it

tomorrow can't come quick enough on 20:01 - Oct 22 with 2895 views | Sandyman | Wonder who'll be paying the outstanding debts on the CVA that is still live? What of those pesky car parking spaces? Wasn't there something about not being able to use the name "bury fc" for several years? What unsafe state will the ground be in after over two years of neglect? There will be many many things that need sorting out. For the BBC to state "bury saved" on their local news broadcast is as incorrect, at this point, as Simon Stone's pulled article on RAFC was last week.

Frustratingly because of the 'football creditors' rule, its likely there won't be anything left for local businesses or the 'non-football' staff who were on the books. The management, players, backroom staff will get paid in full, followed by agents, followed by other clubs they may owe money to. Whatever is left will be paid proportionally in the pound to everyone else - including HMRC, local businesses, handy men, office staff etc.

They are arguing amongst themselves on the comments section of the article, they really are special human beings! Would not surprise me to see some of the dodgy lot we had knocking about being involved. No efl rules for a team that does not exist but still the asset. Arsehole may well apply for the CEO role stating he has been a fan of bURY for years. They really are the gift that will never cease giving them lot!

tomorrow can't come quick enough on 21:33 - Oct 22 with 2746 views | EllDale | The same paper had run a story on Wednesday that the fledgling AFC Bury were looking at developing the town’s athletics track as a new permanent home. This makes me think that they aren’t the people purchasing Gigg Lane. But for stories connecting Salford City to the AJ Bell Stadium I’d have Gary Neville in the frame for buying Gigg given the family connections Of course whoever is buying the ground doesn’t necessarily have to maintain it in it’s current state. Cue bulldozers? Where’s Joy Hart and her handcuffs?

It seems to be a fan group called Est 1885 who are buying the ground and the rights to the Bury FC name. Its mildly frustrating how much press coverage they are getting essentially for a simple 'exclusive purchasing period'... if the press spent 10% of that effort on supporting clubs to protect them rather than save them when it goes boobies up they could make a genuine difference to football in the UK. No real ill feeling towards the bury fans though to be fair - there but for the grace of god (& the brilliant work of the trust and the club) go we.
