Home & Away Tactics 21:26 - Dec 2 with 7836 views | INFIRMARY | Why is it so different ? can we not just set out our stall and say attack when at home and away , as clearly we can't defend or contain a team for a full 90+ mins , Harry sry but we are just not good enough trying to contain teams away from home

Home & Away Tactics on 09:21 - Dec 3 by QPunkR | A fúcking shambles. What the blue fúck is the harm in trying to win a game?! Shirley history has told our fúcktard manager by now that setting out for a 0-0 hasn't worked for him this season. Not a once. Yet he keeps doing it. Tactics? Tactics?! Tictacs maybe. I did find myself wandering aloud why every. cúnting. time. we got the ball we ponced it across the back four - slowly - rather than hitting Swansea on the break. Vargas was the only player to actually want to take the game to them but he was constantly alone up there. Without Green that result would've been embarrassing. Onuoha - awful. He should be told whenever he receives the ball to put his laces through it as he has zero close control. And as for Jesus Barton - why why why why why why why why why why why (same goes for that charlatan Fer) Krancjar was obviously bollocksed at the end and we should've taken him off and introduced Traore to the wing for a bit of pace. But no, Arry. We wuz unlucky, right? |
You'd think that someone at HQ would sit down and watch a video of the match wouldn't you? How many times did we have the ball and the whole team looked absolutely bereft of ideas? We did whatever we could to go backwards, to put ourselves in trouble and then lose or give away the ball. It was pathetic. I truly believe that any one of us armchair coaches could have got a better performance than Harry did last night.

Home & Away Tactics on 09:32 - Dec 3 with 1528 views | stevec | As great as Charlie is in the box, outside it he can't play the lone striker role. Doesn't run channels, not great at hold up play, it encourages centre backs to push him further up field and the full backs to push on, hence our midfield looks entirely overrun. Seen 'pace' in Hoilett and Phillips given the chance and they've been terrible. The only good performance away for me was at Chelsea, predominantly down to a) Sandro from start to finish and b) Bobby's introduction and pushing Vargas up. Without Sandro away from home, HR is pretty much lumbered. Nobody can eat up the ground like him, Barton seems to be marking open space for the most part. Until we get someone in Jan who can run the channels and hold up, then for the time being it's going to be more of the same.
Home & Away Tactics on 10:01 - Dec 3 with 1496 views | Devonrrr | Took a mate who is a rugby fan last night, it was his first game of football for many years. Within 20 minutes he had sussed it; why is nobody trying to get behind the Swansea defence? Why, when we have the ball does EVERYBODY stand still, not a single player making a run. It really isn't difficult. But no, our management team were so content they only felt the need to make one sub and keep the 'tactics' the same throughout. Overheard a conversation between two of their fans after the game it was simply "Queens Park Rangers....terrible."
Home & Away Tactics on 10:10 - Dec 3 with 1482 views | BrisbaneR | So....assuming that any away game against a team in the top half is a 'bonus' game, is it possible that the games to date have been practice in shutting up shop? Away draws against the teams around us (and maybe nick a win or two?) and go all guns blazing against all comers at home?... Crap idea but it's the only thing I can think of that might even resemble a plan.....

Been saying this for ages. ( and so have many others I know) It's not really pace we're lacking it's tactics. Whenever we regain the ball after an opposition attack breaks down we stand and wait for them to get back and reorganise their defence before we make a move forward. The only bright spot is when Isla has the ball Vargas starts running. Isla moves the ball quickly about a yard in front of him. So Harry leaves out Isla.

It must be because there is not a game plan, nothing is done by instinct. I agree re Isla, Ned has many qualities but (as had been said many times) passing isnt one of them and he controls a ball further than I can kick it. Unless both of Islas legs have dropped off he has to start. Would also have liked to see Traore on the left in place of Niko. Swansea moved the ball quickly, played it into space. All our passes were to feet and often the wrong ones.
Home & Away Tactics on 11:37 - Dec 3 with 1416 views | PinnerPaul | For those jumping on the Harry bandwagon. I remember several on here convinced a few weeks ago that our up turn in performance after West Ham was all down to Glenn Hoddle. Does he not take training before away games now, or is that particular theory now finally put to bed?! | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Don't think you'll find a positive prediction from me for the Swansea game. In fact I had a bet on them, but foolishly made it a double with Palace. Don't mind people disagreeing with me, but don't attribute opinions to me that I haven't given please!
