Watching the World Cup Final I realised that I no longer want to attend one of them. I'd find them overpriced, overcommercialised and no longer about the fans.
So my Bucket list became a lot shorter. Leaving aside Rangers, it currently reads as:-
(in order)
1) Red Sox in a World Series game at Fenway Park 2) A World Tour surfing event in Hawaii or Bali 3) An Ireland cricket tour of the Windies
So, leaving aside Rangers and Lottery win firmly in your back pocket, where are you off to while you have the health and libido?
"The opposite of love, after all, is not hate, but indifference."
2. lions tour (south africa would be my number one choice)
3. would love to see mayweather v pacquiao/ adnis stevenson vs kovalev/ward vs froch in vegas
4. monaco gp ( with full bar/supermodel privileges on dave b's yacht/love boat )
good thread bri.
if i had a time machine i would have loved to have been there when stanley was on 'superstars' and trie to flog everyone a sheepskin coat, shot the table, capsized the kyak and got an advance on his fee so he could sod off to white city dogs with don shanks.

Done the World cup in Italia 90 vs Ireland, the old man got some free tickets as he was doing a job for one of the big bosses at coca cola , flew out to the game & it lashed it down in an open aired stadium (which was half empty) , a world away from the last couple of world cups anyway
1/ Boca vs River plate 2/ Celtic vs Rangers 3/ Ryder cup final day 4/would have loved to have been there for 1st Tyson/Holyfield fight 5/ same as above only Benn vs Eubank
And Bowles is onside, Swinburne has come rushing out of his goal , what can Bowles do here , onto the left foot no, on to the right foot
That’s there that’s two, and that’s Bowles

1 AFL Grand Final with Hawthorn playing 2 Sorry Brian World Cup Final 3 Super Bowl prefer the 70's with the Dolphins 4 NBA finals prefer the 80's with the Lakers 5 Champions League Final, this years would of been good 6 Raith Rovers game 7 Ashes tour of England 8 Baseball World Series with the Dodgers 9 State of Origin 10 World Cup final Cricket
If a turtle doesn't have a shell, is he homeless or naked?
- England tour to West Indies (or Sri Lanka for that matter) - Lions test in SA or NZ - Monaco GP (as long as i could do it in style) - Ryder Cup in US - Isle of Mann TT
Notable other mentions though not quite bucket-list material would be US v Canada/Russia olympic ice hockey and superbowl.
Am very fortunate to have ticked three off already - Ryder cup (K Club and Celtic Manor) 6 nations win in Paris and Ashes win at SCG.
- State of Origin - Ryder Cup, here and over there - Wimbledon (not a big tennis person but it's local and I want to tick it off) - World Snooker Champ final session. Been to semis and earlier sessions but never the final session. Really I just want to be there for Taylor v Davis 'the final black' - Hull FC winning at Wembley for the first time. Shut the fcking Rovers fans and their bloody song up. - Leafs in Stanley Cup final series (more chance of QPR in a Champions League final) - Blue Jays in a World Series final (actually not so far fetched any more) - Redskins in the play offs or at a Super Bowl

I notice you didn't say Mets in a World Series game - now that would be fanciful.
Exactly! Im not as naive as Clive thinking the Jays will ever get to a World Series again! Even with the Mets two best players of recent years they won't do it!

I remember Stan on Superstars. The Capsize & Firing 3 (I think) out of 5 Pitols shots into the table rather than at the target. Laughing at those around him taking cover.
Superstars used to be filmed over 2 days, 5 events on each day). Our Stan agreed to go out on the lash/pull with James Hunt on the middle night. Huge quantities of Champagne was quaffed and Stan got to bed around 5am, just a coule of hours before having to be up for the final 5 events. James Hunt didn't make it back to the hotel at all. He just stayed out and went direct to day 2.
Stan bowles came last, James Hunt finished 1st and won that edition ! Legends.

I was allowed to bunk off school to watch the superstars when Keegan cell off his bike at Bracknell sports centre, great couple of days.
favourite cheese mature Cheddar. FFS there is no such thing as the EPL
Up until 6 months ago top of my list would have been seeing the Seahawks win the Super Bowl. I went to the NFC Championship game against the 49ers and I don't think any future sporting event will ever top that for the tension and atmosphere. The pure euphoria after 'The Tip' will go to the grave with me. I seriously considered going to the Super Bowl 2 weeks later at Metlife but decided to stay in London.
To do list...
1) Boxing Day Test at MCG
2) Lions tour to South Africa
3) Monaco GP from a yacht with Kaley Cuoco serving me ice cold beer

There's four pubs in Carrigaholt, a village in Co. Clare's Alantic coast. The village has about ten bikes. And one transvestite. She described the following to me one night in The Long Dock:-
The race happens once a year. Ten names are drawn out of hat. The lucky ten are given a bicycle, sink a pint in the pub nearest the ocean, cycle to the next, have a pint, cycle to the next, and so on until they've done the circuit three times and drained the last pint back where they began.
Even though the pubs are close together and there's plenty encouragement from the following crowd, the lucky ten have to cycle the bones of a mile and consume thirteen pints at stages in between. But that's not all.
Every one of the bikes has been tampered with. One goes backwards if the rider pedals forwards, one goes left if the rider turns right, one looks like a penny farthing's dishevelled cousin...and so on...crashes galore, goonery of the very best kind.
The winner is the first rider to finish the cycle and the baker's dozen of pints. Falling while drinking is not allowed, falling while cycling is encouraged. And inevitable.
Maybe it's not as hysterical as it seemed when Frances explained it to me. Maybe I'd find the whole thing an anti-climax. Maybe it'd be sheer paddywhackery. But then again, maybe it'd be even funnier than it sounds. It might be mdness, but it'd be mdness not to find out.
It's on the list.

If a Bucket List implies having a terminal illness, I'd be prepared to risk the following: Fenerbahce - Galatasaray Pakistan - India ODI World title fight in Panama, Mexico, etc RL International in Papua New Guinea
I can't as excited about the US events, but I'd most like to see one of the big college football games, eg Michigan - Ohio State or Alabama - LSU.
