Hull Pubs on 22:49 - Apr 3 with 2927 views | Rancid | Stay clear of the Silver Cod, if it's still open. Not sure about their new ground as I haven't been so can't comment on what's safe and what's not.The Silver Cod was/is definitely not safe though.
Hull Pubs on 22:58 - Apr 3 with 2907 views | kopperburgjack | Everyone was in the social club just outside the away end last time in the championship, was a bit of trouble then but be fine sat as I can't see us taking as many as we did before.. Hull is always a warm welcome.. Not. Fkin dump of a place, be a good atmosphere though

Hull Pubs on 11:09 - Apr 4 with 2706 views | perchrockjack | Yep so seen as a better candidate than Swansea so maybe lest not rip into the old big Fishing port. Ive been there and its a strange place but I ve not had any trouble there. Its an old city with a lot of history but like many northern cities has been ravaged by unemployment and successive dimwit governments so really they re like us. Drivers LOOK OUT FOR SPEED CAMERAS ON M62 when crossing the Ouse at Goole. Old town is worth a look and remember the Rugby LEAGUE legend that played for Hull -Clive Sullivan, good for conversation tool with locals.

Hull Pubs on 11:31 - Apr 4 with 2694 views | monmouth | Nasty horrible grotty old place when I was last there in 1979 (?). We got a 2-2 draw after being walloped, with Crudge saving a penalty at 2-0. Tosh and Waddle headers, 'ave it, 2-2. Locals not happy. Didn't bother trying to get a drink until we got back to Leeds, by which time the boozers were shutting. Happy days.

I only live 2 hours away so ill be going in the morning. I heard we've sold 1,000 or thereabouts. If you are out and about in Hull, be alert. It's a crime ridden, deprived shit hole. Huge city, bigger than Liverpool, but like Liverpool, a shit hole.

Will I be safe walking from the train station to the ground while listening to music on my iPhone or should I keep it in my bag in case I may be mugged?

You will be fine if you have a flash watch make sure you wear a short sleeved shirt. Go in the Silver cod with a big wad in your wallet & make sure you flash it about to the locals , then sing 'We hate in England' in your finest Cockney / Swansea accent. Let me know how you get on ......

I'm amazed that Leeds has nearly twice the population of Manchester.

Depends on how the data is interpreted. Some people may say that the pop of 'London' is 12mill, and strictly speaking the pop of 'Manchester' may well be 400k but, as we all know, the place overall is comprised of a miscellany of 'villages' as is London.

Is there a Greater Manchester? Back to London, I remember in the 1960s reading somewhere that the population of 'London' was 4000, which at the time was the same as Loughor! London strictly speaking is a small place, a square mile some say, comprising mainly commercial property.

Wiki says: Greater Manchester is a metropolitan county in North West England, with a population of 2.7 million.[1] It encompasses one of the largest metropolitan areas in the United Kingdom and comprises ten metropolitan boroughs: Bolton, Bury, Oldham, Rochdale, Stockport, Tameside, Trafford, Wigan, and the cities of Manchester and Salford. Greater Manchester was created on 1 April 1974 as a result of the Local Government Act 1972; and designated a Statutory City Region on 1 April 2011. Greater Manchester spans 493 square miles (1,277 km2),[2] which roughly covers the territory of the Greater Manchester Built-up Area, the second most populous conurbation in the UK. It is landlocked and borders Cheshire (to the south-west and south), Derbyshire (to the south-east), West Yorkshire (to the north-east), Lancashire (to the north) and Merseyside (to the west). There is a mix of high-density urban areas, suburbs, semi-rural and rural locations in Greater Manchester, but land use is mostly urban – the product of concentric urbanisation and industrialisation which occurred mostly during the 19th century when the region flourished as the global centre of the cotton industry. It has a focused central business district, formed by Manchester city centre and the adjoining parts of Salford and Trafford, but Greater Manchester is also a polycentric county with ten metropolitan districts, each of which has at least one major town centre and outlying suburbs.

Geoff Crudgington is top 3 in my favorite players ever. Purely because of his sideburns.
