Ronald Koeman on 17:42 - Feb 10 by Daithejack | This, I'm all for Monks getting the job, It's obvious the players like him and he can motivate the squad, he may also go on to be a great coach for all we know, but if the board do give him the job on a permanent basis they need to get his back room staff sorted, scouting network, fitness team, coaches for the u21's and accadmy etc. To be honest I'd rather the board do this than spend 3 or 4 Million a year on big name managers wages that we keep having to replace every season. |
If Monk gets the job, I certainly hope he gets more ambitious in the cups than what he has shown so far.

Ronald Koeman on 14:52 - Mar 11 by icecoldjack | All this speculation.. Why cant somebody ask our roving reporter from Holland (van zweden) what is going on ? Surely the answer will then be in print within a matter of hours ? Bottom line for me is that i beleive our board have a problem dealing with high calibre people like Sousa and Laudrup and are much more comfortable with certain types of character like Martinez and Brenda, people that are more use to saying the right things to board members and making them feel part of the football side while also blowing a bit of sunsine up the arse now and again. Thats just my opinion by the way! Cant see rRonald doing too much of that if im honest but looks like he is off to a good start! In many ways the Laudrup situation mirrored the Sousa situation, talk of training not being up to standard etc,etc . Ive often felt that perhaps there is a different mind set abroad to what a footballers responsibilities are in terms of maintaining fitness and living the correct lifestyle . Wilf Bony running on the beach in his spare time is an example of this maybe ? A few seasons back when chico joined,he was the fittest player in the pre season beep test, followed if memory serves me well by Rangel, bessone and another import(somebody can correct me here as im not 100% sure) That tells me that fitness abroad is maybe more of a responsibility to the player rather than the coach running them around the field a hundred times. Bearing this in mind a performance review should be done to asses exactly where our problems lie in 4,5 yrs we have had 3 coaches where only one was deemed good enough by the players,he was brought up in the British game and perhaps had a better understanding of how things are done in this country . Will the club go abroad next ? id like to think so but im thinking they will look for the next Brenden myself . Somebody with a top reputation as a British coach as opposed to a top manager is how i think they will go. The swans have often tended to go a bit under the radar with managers too, not often picking the names on the betting list . I think Ronald would be a decent choice but it doesnt take a rocket scientist to work out that anyone who takes the job will put in a call to Laudrup and will also be weary of the influence of Monk and some senior players. I couldn't agree more to what you are saying about responsibility for the players. In Europe you are told to relax when you are off. You are told to eat healthy, you are told that alcohol is not accepted during the season and that you have to stay fit and finally to go to bed early. Funny thing is that you can compare to british cycling. Earlier the riders were serious but when Team Sky came along the started marginal gains. The team learned the riders what to eat and when. They even prepared the food and stocked up the freezer. The riders where told to relax as much as possibly and that means when you don't stand when you can sit. You don't sit when you can lay down. You don't go shopping but you send the wife You don't take the wife and kids to the beach you stay home and relax and train. Funny enough after that GB started to get riders like Cavendish, Wiggins and Froome. Won the Tour de France 2 years in a row and dominate a sport they never was a factor in. If footballers lived by the same rules we wouldn't hear about drinking in Dubai and not enough training, because you just don't drink and you keep your self relax and in form. If the players don't change their attitude the only thing that will work is somebody asking players to run until the sun is black as punishment. Get Moyes he will be on the market soon anyway

If Moyes is sacked and can't get a job, he'll manage Wrexham rather than sign on. Get real? The saying "Beggars can't be choosers" ring any bells? Not that I'd want Moyes as manager. Don't rate him and think Yernited made the wrong choice. Glad they did though. Hope Moyes takes them down further. Is Rudolph a big enough man to admit he fuked up to all the plastic supporters they have? Hopefully not and backs Moyes for 3 or 4 years

Maybe not but, playing style aside, his "achievements" at Everton - consistent top half finishes, working to a budget - make him a much better fit for a Club like us than he ever was for United.

I think you'll find that Moyes spent a fair bit at Everton. Not the money Yernited will let him spend on a player, but still spent a fair bit during the transfer windows.

Agree with all of that but still think what he did at Everton was in no way a perfect foundation for the combination of big money to spend and massive, possibly unrealistic expectations that he has had to deal with at United.

Some good points but in general a non-sensical post. It matters not what nationality a Manager is, moreso what calibre he is so why talk about "going abroad" and spoil your thread by making childish comments about Rodgers and Martinez (hang on isn't he Spanish anyway....?!?) Look at the records of Martinez/Rodgers v. Sousa and Laudrup and frankly they compare favourably all things considered. Yes Sousa has won the league with Videoton and Cup. Yes Laudrup won the COC with us and the League in Denmark a couple of times. But Rodgers won promotion with us and did superbly in 2011-12. He has improved Liverpool to title contenders from being 7th and 8th before he arrived without spending big bucks. He has managed less than 6 seasons in total. Martinez has managed now for 7yrs and despite a relegation he has done extremely well, winning a league, 8th in the CCC the season after. Won the FA Cup with Wigan, done well so far at Everton. Of course you are right about British players' unprofessionalism but if, as a Manager, you can't adapt to this culture then don't bother working in the UK! Sousa's idea of team-bonding was to get the strippers in! Really professional that, eh?!
Ronald Koeman on 09:03 - Mar 12 with 1720 views | Devz00 | So this has come from JVZ then - The Premier League club’s director John van Zweden confirmed to Voetbal International that they had been approached by Guido Albers, Ronald Koeman’s agent. Zweden said, “Albers indeed approached with the question of whether Koeman was a suitable candidate for Swansea.” “I passed on the number of the agent to Huw Jenkins and whether there has been any contact I really do not know. I know that the club is very pleased with Garry Monk.” http://www.football-oranje.com/swansea-confirm-koemans-approach/?

He didnt contact us - his agent did... Although according to Mr K himself “I don’t think it will all happen so quickly. I think it will be April or May before I can clarify anything about my future. At this stage, there’s no contact with Swansea City.” So basically its a nothing article?

Ronald Koeman on 14:56 - Feb 10 by Far_Post | Would be in the same bracket as Laudrup in terms of management style I would guess so Huw and the rest of the board would probably have their concerns in offering the job to Koeman. Monk can offer us much needed stability until the end of the season i would suggest and then a decision can be made on the managers job for the longer term. |
except he's taken Feyenoord (big club with fairly small finances) to 2nd and 3rd in their league currently 4th. Connections within Holland and across Europe at a high standard. If he'd have Garry Monk as his senior coach I'd move heaven and earth to get him.
