Interesting, are the club feeding these stories to the press to get the fans onside, must have an element of truth about the players feeling lack of interest from ML.

How sure can we be that all that story is lies? Maybe the truth is starting to come out now. But if it's true that player delegations were going to the board then he really had to go.
That said, because a manager isn't enforcing discipline it doesn't mean the players can go boozing. Where is their personal discipline?

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

Correct.

Surely if delegations have been going to the board for some time we had a plan B in place and that wasn't Garry Monk for the rest of the season? There's too much at stake to gamble with a complete rookie for our last 13 games.

Hopefully experience is galloping to our rescue as we speak.

I bet he pissed the board off on so many different levels.Only last week he was defending Andy Carroll over his red.We failed to land Tom Ince after Laudrup spoke to him.There's just 2 situations in the last few weeks.Flying to Paris straight after the WHU game and giving the players license to 'chill out'.I'm sorry but he had to go and that's not mentioning our abysmal form.

In reflection, I totally agree. I was of the opinion that we hold onto him until the end of the season, pray to god we stay up, then release him in the summer regardless of whether he wanted to stay or not. But great experiences away Stamford Bridge, Wembley, Valencia and United papered over massive cracks that were getting wider by the week - NeathJack put it nicely yesterday; under Laudrup we were sleepwalking towards relegation. I honestly think we'd have gone done without any fight under Laudrup.

I'm not convinced on the Monk appointment yet - it has obvious benefits (continuity etc.) but is such a massive risk. But the board obviously feel it a lesser risk than keeping Laudrup around, so I'll just have to trust their judgement - which to be fair has been great up until now

I'm sure Monk knows the score, whether or not he's in place til the summer or if someone else is being approached.
But tellingly, I have more faith in Monk motivating the team than I did in Laudrup.
Laudrup once said he didn't shout, you can get your point across and leave people in no doubt you are angry without shouting. Well that is true but in my experience sometimes, just sometimes you have to use the "hairdryer" because some people just take no notice of the nicey nicey approach.

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

I agree with you....but (you knew that was coming didn't you?) player delegations were exactly how Leeds got rid of Brian Clough. What the current squad want and like and what is good for the health of the club are not the same thing.

On this occasion though, it clearly wasn't going to get better and players do have all the power now, even when they play poorly they still get mega riches.

Monk is cheap too and now we have to pay up ML's contract it makes sense financially.And can you imagine the conversation between Laudrup and the Ince's? You'd think we were capable of getting someone like Ince in but I can't for the life of me imagine Laudrup selling the club to him when he'd lost interest himself.

Maybe Laudrup felt a hard pre season would be enough and the number of games would keep fitness levels up. And if the players disagreed, maybe they are right. The situation on the pitch points that way, as well as the injuries.
Question, does anyone think our injury situation is down to players being driven to hard in training?

To me this just sounds like spin put out by the board to justify sacking ML - the manager who brought us a trophee and our so far best position in the Premier League. The real story behind the sacking probably has a lot more to do with the tutumlu debacle from last summer than anything else (i.e. a prolonged struggle for power and the ultimate say over our transfers).

I don't have the same asuredness of Monk being able to motivate the team as you do. Especially if he was instrumental in 'clearing the way for getting the job himself'.

Stuff like that acts demotivational.

If anything, it could polarize the players even more.

My favourite idea from this whole debacle and by a mile the most ludicrous suggestion, and to be fair to you, you aren't the only one to say it BUT, this idea that Monk stirred everything up single-handedly in order to appoint himself Manager. Quite simply I have never heard anything so ridiculous in my life. on this basis, Monk has single-handedly been responsible for:
* 7 Prem wins in 33 games
* Ineffective fitness methods, physio and nutrition
* A split between the Spaniards and the rest of the players
* Signing Vazquez, Schecter, Emnes, Ngog etc
* Not starting Bony at the start of the season in many games
* An apparent shambles of a mid-season break to Dubai
* Laudrup swanning off to Paris and giving the players 2 days off in the middle of a daunting fixture list with a Derby coming up
* Laudrup clearly being demotivated
* Players wanting more discipline then going off on the piss anyway
* A total breakdown in our style of play and ability to create changes and especially our continued slow starts.
* Appointing himself as Acting Manager

Seriously , have a word with youself!!
