This will be the first election that I have no idea who to vote for, will never vote Tory again after the lies during covid where my dad lost his life, don’t trust starmer, would never vote for a bunch of racists like reform , anyone give me a clue?

Reform are a company backed by a right wing millionaire, they are not a political party. They have 5 seats yet will get 100x the political coverage than say the Greens (4 seats) because they are backed by a right wing media. Even the BBC give them a completely disproportionate amount of coverage. Their deputy leader has said regarding migrants in boats "left to drown". Nigel Farage dresses and mimics many of the mannerisms of Adolf Hitler. Lee Anderson? The less said the better. They've convinced a large proportion of the population that they are totally legitimate and aren't 'racist'. Let's see how Farage deals with the scrutiny of being an actual MP now. His finances will be very interesting reading.
Let's give this Labour government a chance, the Tories spent 14 years ripping up the basic infrastructure of this country. It's no coincidence that the number of billionaires has dramatically risen over the last decade.
Labour have already:
Called for an outright ceasefire in the Middle East and the call for a two party state (really wasn't that difficult to say was it).
Have stated they will open negotiations with junior doctors as early as next week (again, not difficult to sit down and talk with people is it, that's your job).
Scrapped the illegal and immoral Rwanda policy. (That has cost £240 million pounds and was going to cost over £1million plus per person 'deported').
I'd say that's progress within 48 hours.
Anyway let's just try and be positive about the future at least rather than slagging off each other and people who have barely had a chance to settle in to the office. |  | | |

Agree 100% - extremely concerning that that absolute charlatan Vallance has been given a role by Starmer. Expert? My God, expert in total effing codswallop. Dangerous character.
For me Starmer's picks are a very strange mix of the actually, possibly decent, like Timpson, and the downright scary, like Vallance, and the goggle-eyed nasalist, Miliband, who is primed to take us into the literal dark ages with his manic Net-zero zeal. |
My favourite TRUST THE SCIENCE part was when they commissioned a study to simulate a scenario that millions would die if we didn't lock down and then used that as a basis for lockdown.

Vallance has decades of experience of getting things completely wrong. And I'm not sure what qualifies Miliband to be the new 'secretary of state for energy security and net zero'. Other than that, like his Marxist father, he is an ideologue.

Reeves may or may not prove a competent Chancellor of the Exchequer. Lammy as Foreign Secretary... well, I guess we'll see. I have a modicum of faith in Yvette Cooper as Home secretary.
To attain power in the world's 6th largest economy - as Labour under Starmer have done - and when The Sun endorses you - you know that deals have been done that are nothing to do with the promises Starmer made in his speech outside No. 10.

On a more positive note, SOME (I'm sure some of the others are crap, yes) of the cabinet appointments yesterday were really encouraging to me. Richard Hermer, Patrick Vallance, particularly James Timpson. Actual experts in their field, who've worked at the front line and know what they're talking about and what needs to be done. Not career ladder politicians who get a job simply for being loyal to the leader. It's a very welcome departure from having culture, media and sport run by bloody Nadine Dorries, or sticking Chris Grayling in charge of trains. |

Think that Keir Starmer will be a decent Prime Minister, seems pretty grounded and serious and has a top team around him that mirror this. The Civil Service will be more motivated to get things going again as they have spent most of the last 14 years working within the turmoil of a coalition, the May Brexit years, Johnson's lack of detail, Truss incompetence and Sunak's lack of control of a fractured party. I would expect that Streeting will be charged with getting a quick win to strike a deal with the junior doctors that will be a compromise but acceptable to both parties. | | | |

This is actually what the House of Lords should be for; a center of expertise, people with years of knowledge in one particular field acting for the benefit of the country as opposed to transient, slimey, ideological politicians. TBF he had less than a month to crowdfund a campaign and rally support for himself. Imagine what he could done with KS level of funding and campaign staff.
Those dismissing him by sneering he could say anything because he knew he wouldn't win have overlooked the background; enough people are so anti Starmer that they want him out. He has said he will carry on, inspired by the success of other independents with similar political views and will be better prepared next time.
