RIP the 96
I was on my way to the Vetch with my old man.
We'd parked in Duke Street near the Brunswick and on the way to game an old boy in his door way mentioned "crowd incident at Hillsborough looks like some are dead"
As a 12 year old I froze a bit and my dad didn't really say much as we were running a bit late.
We watched the Swans lose 2-1 against Wigan....but it didn't matter.
I remember my old man silent in car listening to radio in a silent glaze, he normally can't keep quiet after a game.
Grim memories.
I'm sure Sean McCarthy scored for us and I remember a sparse crowd. [Post edited 15 Apr 2020 11:41]

I had bought a walkman with a radio just before. First and last time I took it to a game. The events unfolding were horrific. Was a lovely sunny day too.
You must have been pretty late as they were both 3pm kick offs. Was about 3:10 before anything wrong was apparent. |  | | |

Remember being on the North Bank and a couple of people had radios. The initial assumption was there was rioting which was causing the problem. Got back to Neath train station at about 6ish after the game and picked up a Sporting Post with the head of something like "35 dead at cup semi final". A day I'll never forget. |  | | |

I remember that too. I was up in the East Stand and as I recall we were 2-1 in about the 88th minute and Pascoe and a Parlane pen turned it around.
Always though how easily that Bradford fire could have been the Centre Stand. | | | |
