Did Jesus exist? on 17:29 - Apr 14 with 3020 views | monmouth | Wasn't he just a convenient metaphor to suit Roman historians? Anyway, are you sitting down, as this may come as a shock....actually no you're from Clase, so probably not, but his mother wasn't really a virgin. Can you believe it? Oh and he didn't come back from the dead neither, nobody does, not even Bob Bradley, and he thinks he's the messiah

I like the ancient Jews' denunciation of Jesus as the son of Mary and "a sorcerer". Brings to mind an unholy alliance between the Paul Daniels and Debbie McGee of the time.

Mind, before religious times didn't humans go around clubbing each other, with women being dragged off by the hair into the undergrowth? [Post edited 14 Apr 2017 21:58]

Did Jesus exist? on 18:45 - Apr 14 with 2871 views | E20Jack | The article is awful and poorly reseached. The documents they refer to mention "The Christos" and not Jesus Christ. Christ is not a name, it is a title. It is roughly translated as the anointed one. There have been several Christos' throughout history and does not specifically refer to Jesus. Just like people assume that when they read about Caesar that they are reading about Julius Caesar, Caeser like Christ is not a name but a title, it means Emperor designate and there are many Caesars throughout history. There are thousands of religions, many all start with a virgin birth on Dec 25th and many of those religions started way before Christianity. Christianity seems like a rip off of the Egyptian faith, the corner stone of which seems to be a direct plagiarisation from the Egyptian book of the dead. Christianity is a relatively new religion, amazing it has such a following when it is clearly ripped from religions founded long before it.

Caesar means Hairy One doesn't it? And it was Julius' actual name wasn't it? Then taken by his adopted heir and their subsequent adopted sons.

You've only gone and done it now.. Lohengrin will be along shortly to point out that the swathes of easterners will be haemorrhaging this forum like locust's and denouncing the single omnipotent transcribed outpouring word defined as 'Arab' like defending Hitler's entourage of genocidal maniacs.

It doesn't have any direct English translation. Caesaries means hair, its said he got the name as he was born with a full head of hair but it is just speculation. Caesar is just a word for ruler or powerful leader - Kaiser is a German adaptation of it, Tsar is the Russian adaptation. The first Caesar was Augustus (this was B.C.) and there were over 60 in total the majority before Julius. It is more likely that he was named Caesar as a mark if power, a bit like what Katoe Price did with her daughter Princess Tiami But no, many many times you see Caesar written - is not referencing Julius at all. Same with "The Christos" in the old documents. Common misconception.

I read recently that the story of Jesus is the allegorical telling of our Sun's (Son of God) journey through the cosmos. The reason why the birthday is on the 25th December is due to the fact that on the winter solstice (21st December) our sun reaches its lowest point in the sky and stays there (dormant, lifeless) before rising again (resurrection) on the 25th (also relates the three days in the cave after crucifixion). Like you say though. it's nothing new.
