The ground was ammed and. Bridge could still hold plus 60k then, loads of forgeries, I got in on one the turnstile guy didn't even give it a glance, a lot went in 2 at a time and slipped a quid to the fellow.. I reckon we had 35.000 there whole shed, most of the west stand fansup in the east and the 'dodgers' like me... |
| News Comment | Saints V Newcastle United The Verdict at 11:52:20
I posted on the Echo to this effect, I have given up blaming individual players, whether woeful defending or dreadful finishing it all stems from an inability to do what qualiyt teams can do pass accurately, quickly, remain composed and don't keep making mistakes, Valery and Long's dreadful shot instead of cross can be blamed this week, who last, the week before and before that, the opening 15 games the last 5 from prior season... Different cuprits same result, so who are the culprits, almost everyone, look aside from sterile possession how many times do we string superb forward passes together, by the 26 th minute I was tearing my hair out at the misplaced, mistimed passes on the edge of their box, there are many times in a game when with more quality we would be threatening the opposition, instead we lose the ball again and again and we end up under pressure, teams are given the ball as much nay more than actually winning it although they do that better... The problems which are with us for 3 and a half seasons now are a collective issue, there is only one player consistantly (when not injured) who is a top half player, JWP and Redmond are over that term not consistent, then who?????? The dunbimg down of too many players is 'the' issue discussing the symptoms of the day obscures the real disease, namely a shocking ownership and board with zero football nous and no ambition. |
| News Comment | Saints At West Ham United The Verdict at 10:32:35
When we question team selections and Ralph playing people out of position it is viewed as the cause of our defeat, ir certainly doesn't help but it not at the heart of what is wrong in yet another season whereby we are still far too close to relegation. Even Puel's 8th was closer to relegation than 5th..you could argue that we have been relegation candidates for three and a half seasons, so this is not new. The fooball is in the main more enjoyable but the results over the last 6 games put as back in relegation form, the bottom line is that we have far too many players who cannot fo the basics at true PL level, pass, control, vision is in very short supply. The style of play Ralph say's he wants requires extreme fitness a la MoPo and a high skill threshold, tapping the ball around until one of our players inevitably loses it, misplaces it or is pressuried out of it indeed allowing the opposition to get 11 behind the ball guarantees it, we simply do not have enough good players as evidenced by how many are also on loan with no takers. If we want to be honest about it name more than 3 players we have that would be guaranteed a start with a top 6 side...I think we have Ings as a stand out but even Redmond and JWP are not consistant, who else? The table does not lie and the total points tally since the league cup final is atrocious, that is the big picture, not just the WHU lash up. |
| News Comment | Saints V Wolverhampton Wanderers The Verdict at 11:02:02
In the most direct words possible, our team is short of THREE players who could instantly displace regular Ralph starters... Midfield, defence and front all need a player 'substantially better than what we have, take the high press wonderful, however because our passing is not a patch on the Adkins, MoPo era we have many players running out of steam by the hour mark, it's physical limitations because we have to chase too much, it happened in the last ten with MoPo but we also had a midfield of Spider and Wanyama, Spider had Europes best interceptiions and passing stats in Europe! none of our midfield are a patch on them or Cork for that matter. Defence, Fonte baby, Toby, VVD, no one can currently lace their boots...Clyne and Shaw as was where substantially better than Cedric and Bertrand of the last 3 years. Front...Ings excellent but were is the SRL, the Pelle, the Mane, Lalla, JRod, even Sharp is way ahead of Che and Obafemi.. The excuses, justifications, analysis are all secondary to the fact we need substantially better players in 3 prime positions. |

A shocking start to the season now a welcome purple patch what is needed is for the next 5 games to prove the last 5 games are the norm not a blip. |
| News Comment | Absolutely ******* Disgraceful at 13:56:47
This is NOT about a 8loody central defender,it is about a rotten and emotionally dysfunctional daughter selling us (after promising not to) out KNOWINGLY to a Chinaman whose 'grassing' against former partners sentenced to them to death. So an uncaring mercenary Liar and a grass State informer who borrowed every penny and embargoed player purchases on day one...and you Nick think it's about a central defender or two...god help us. |

Do you know, I so want us to be improved and upgraded but I am not as overawed as I thought, it was a bit of a misunderstood travelling persons wedding, too much, it could have been more by being a little less.. Arsenal's corporate and people skills is altogether on another level, seems Spuds employed a combination of jobsworths and snowflakes, Arsenal recruited corporate entertainment people, who can relate, interact, not panic and have a sense of humour. 10% of what Spuds spent wisely invested would make SMS a better day out and a decent atmosphere. |

| News Comment | The Phoney Transfer Window Soon To End ! at 10:45:56
I don't give a monkeys about other clubs inaction....Ralph wanted safety assured ASAP so he could hit the ground running, a statement of fact NOT assumption, yet here you are yet again supporting the owners and board..you said you were not a cheerleader for the board, Nick you are the unpaid cheerleader....you have cut this ownership more slack than Alice's draws. There is not a shred of ambition, Cortese overspent on a world leading Academy, yes he was guilty of perfectionism and a pain in the derriere but what a magnificent journey, from div 1 to 3rd in the PL before the final bust up with Kat.... How can you give Cortese both barrels when he laid out a vision and ambition to Markus who trusted him and delivered way beyond our dreams (that is part of the problem to many including you think small) he never lied to us either. Kat and her bagman did nothing but lie to us, clubs not for sale, players not for sale upon Kruegers appointment when he was tasked with that and the Swiss media reported same. The ECL, then top 6, then single figures all lies, selling to take the club to the next level, what Primark... I don't question your support for Saints I have known you since the 70's a Clive Foley's coaches but believe me your 'realism' is nothing of the sort it is a justafication for some pretty horrific ownership and woeful management.....do you thin Reed would have been allowed to decimate the squad on Cortese's watch? hardly caring ownership. |

| News Comment | The Ugly Inside TV ! Ralph Krueger Departure Reaction at 11:07:24
Kruger worked for the owners, we represented nothing, indeed lying to us about Kats intentions, players not for sale, being deceitful about the clubs (non) ambitions, the list goes on... He was nothing more than Kat then Gao's bagman and was paid handsomely for that part time role. However one thing I will agree on the most talented Chairman or Ceo in the world will not make a scrap of difference if the owner has no ambition. Krueger V Levy is really Goa v Lewis...Cortese proved in a unique case of CEO having absolute power and funds what we could have been instead Kat dropped her bottle and the club we could have grown into will now not happen. |
| News Comment | Hasenhuttl Calls For The Fans Unity at 14:09:22
Just watching Wolves and listening to the crowd...reminds me of something.....therein lies the issue Nick, it was taken away without 'necessity' and the 'orrible people who did it are still here in charge of your and my spiritual football home....the morns even need to do an 'analysis' to see if giving us an 'end' is viable, you know what every other team in all 4 leagues has. |
| News Comment | Hasenhuttl Is Getting The Best Out Of Players at 18:18:20
Still way to many players JWP being one who take the easy 'negative' pass when the forward pass to get in behind was just as easy, on the right particularly there were five occasions when we had Valery or others up the wing and bottled it...whatever the whys and wherefores there is still many squandered chances to attack attack attack attack attack to sing from the 70's hymn sheet. Ps how are ticket sales looking for tomorrow?? |
| News Comment | Why So Many Tickets Left Unsold In The Northam End ! at 10:56:27
@ saint brock, I could not agree more, living abroad I go to more away games than home ones, it's a pain getting a ticket from SMS and awful atmosphere anywhere but the Northam corner... Demanding the police agree to moving the away fans, giving us an end and making anyone living in the SO postcode or a 30 mile radius without all this registration nonsense would vastly improve attendances......at the Dell close to full houses could be had simply because the weather was good! Nick's point about standing behind the team falls down because the very people who gave us dire football for now a third season through naked greed are still here, I guarantee a full house if Cortese came back. A final issue on the club ticketing, when we were tearing up div 1 we played Utd off the park in the FA cup yet the crowd was only 28.000, I could not order a ticket from here and I knew at least ten people who could not get a ticket back then.....SFC has never been fan friendly on that I blame every board. |
| News Comment | Who Might Go In The Saints Clear Out ! at 09:56:33
Sell Redmond bring back Boufal, whatever stats can be pointed at the best four goals in the last three years came from Boufal plus Hjojberg that seems a remarkable coincidence.. Redmond and JWP are media darlings NOT great players and would bring £35 million...sell Vest or Hoedt as well and Cedric who cannot cross an important part of a wing backs game is it not. Bring in a total of £75 million plus add £35 million which due to our continued meanest nett spend in the PL leaves us a two year FFP 'overspend' window. Bring 5 absolute quality players in utilizing transfer funds for the young uns and freeing up of ELEVEN wages for the class oldies. The academy needs to go back to its roots and link with the first team which ended when MoPo left, supplying us in 3 years time with at least one quality output a year. |
