Odubajo completes QPR’s summer — Signing
at 17:00:58

That last paragraph reminded me of Di Canio's tenure when it didn't matter if we conceded 3 as we'd score 4!

Absolutely disgusting behaviour to someone you hate let alone a fellow fan. Some of our fan base beggars belief sometimes.

I can remember loosing it with some of them when sitting in SAR listening to FItz Hall being booed every time he touched the ball by our own"supporters"

I know it's probably easier said than done Clive (i'd find it nigh on impossible not to react and offer to "discuss" any issues face-to-face) but try not to lets plebs like this drag you down, you do a fantastic job so don't let anyone else persuade you otherwise.

Farewell to the king — Column

Nice write up Simon and an excellent reflection of the day. Saw the Forest flag with the picture of Stan on it, was great to see and a testament to the man he was, to see fans from far and wide come together to pay their respects and I don't mind admitting, I shed a tear at half time as Shanksy led Stan around to ground to milk the applause and adoration for the very last time.

Only negative for me was the Carlisle fans being banned from hanging their flag in the upper Loft as they were "in the home end"...talk about fcuking jobsworths.

Harry Redknapp — short term solution for long term problems?
at 00:16:49

Completely agree with the article & above comments.

Until we get rid if the egos and build a squad containing 30 Jamie Mackie/Clint Hillesque players we'll get nowhere.

Add a manager of Karl Robinson's ilk to a squad like that and we have a real chance of building a sustainable future in the top flight. Onwards & upwards :-)

Don't tell me the odds, baby...
at 12:51:14

But we don't necessarily need 42 points. we just need to be 17th or higher.

Lets say our goal this season is a top 6 finish and we were 8 points adrift of that, would you think it was an unassailable gap?...i wouldn't.

Beware the pitfalls of a Redknapp coronation
at 00:27:11

Clive, excellent article but with the current squad i don't think Mackay or Poyet (or any other young manager) would be a wise choice .

The current squad needs a figurehead, someone they respect & HR fits that profile.

However, moving forward, I'd love to see a young, hungry manager given the opportunity to take us (sorry!!!) forward whilst installing a sense of real stability .

Cheers for the Soton ticket btw, nice to meet you & the LFW crew.

Life, death and the love of Queens Park Rangers — guest column
at 12:48:08

Cheers Ian, this reminded me a little of my mums plight as the big C riddled her frail body.

She was a life long R and her & my dad followed them all over the country during the late 50 / early 60s. Then in later years accompanied my dad and i as a STer for many years.

In Apr 08 i got a call from dad saying she was deteriorating rapidly. I jumped on the train to and got there jsut before we kicked off against Preston.

Sat by her bedisde occasionally checking on the score while mum sipped in,& increasingly rarely, out of unconciousness. Her last words to me were "what was the score" after i'd told her the game had ended a couple of hours previously. 2 - 2 mum i told her as she closed her eyes for the last time.

She would've LOVED to have seen us back in the big time &, slighly hypocritically as i don't believe in any deity or afterlife, sometimes look up when we score an important goal or win a game with a silent "get in eh mum"

Thanks for sharing Ian, the game & club we all love need putting into perspective sometimes. I know it's a cliche but time does heal & i hope your pain is soon replaced by the many fond memories you must have of your time together.
