| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 15:32:32 Simply ... They made no real mistakes in the 2 legs even though they were uninspiring that's how teams from smaller leagues progress. They were Champions and that's obviously how they did it. We made a crucial mistake in each leg that they scored from. The refs made a crucial mistake in each leg and that cost us. We've got to take our early chances and then we can play with more confidence. Tadic cross near end should have been our equaliser but they were so good defensively. |
| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 15:18:12 Steks kicking superb, Maya gets the blame for defensive midfield frailties, Caulker improving, Long off-day, Mane became more assertive as they tired, but so did he, Juanmi came on in the centre and we decided to go wide at that point. JWP & Pelle joint MOTM. |
| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 23:58:31 Very impressive start against a team that might have troubled us ... but really didn't. Must pick out Matt Targett for special mention. Another young star from the academy. Stekelenberg very solid and great kicking. Victor was a rock. Maya has improved so much under Ron. Mane unplayable. Dusan's best penalty so far. Clasie was very quiet and will take time to fit in. A great night for Saints. Hope we can finish the job next week and move on to the next challenge. |
| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 18:07:12 Difficult to understand how the team that gave us Leicester away could give us this. Several notable performances. Pelle so much better again, Long has had his Duracells recharged, Mane made me smile so much Paulo did well and made a couple of good saves and catches. Awesome, lets enjoy it. |
| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 19:36:26 Great game, could have won it. Spurs are a good side we should be proud. Maya was excellent, Morgan & Toby v.good in the middle, Sadio worried the hell out of their defence, possibly his best game yet. Steve Davis excellent except he has an ass / banjo malfunction in front of goal. What a miss the first one was! Pelle back to scoring, the header was a thing of beauty. Can't believe one of Joses headers didn't win it for us. Who knew Elia was so good at dead balls. Ever one created a chance. |
| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 17:22:55 Very disappointing 1st half and I have to admit I got quite negative. Much improved with JWP replacing Victor. Some games just don't work with Morgan & Victor, we end up with a six man defence against teams where we don't need it. 2nd half much improved, pleased to see Graziano getting angry as it really seemed to motivate him. I think his hair almost moved at one point. Jose and Maya had really good game. Toby offered more threat than Clyney of late. Kelvin gets a clean sheet. Europe beckons. |
| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 11:06:32 A goal that resulted from a short spell of actually shooting gave us a 1st half lead and the chance to control a game from a leading position for the first time in months. A spirited response from Burnley but we outclassed them and should have won by more. Well done Kelvin for a few good saves. He gets MOTM for me for that and being an inspirational club captain. Grazziano? Master of the art of false No9 in a way noone could predict. And Shane Long makes Billy the Whiz look slow. |
| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 19:45:42 Matched the champions elect on their ground. Not bad. Just lacked a winner. Mane was awesome 1st half. I thought Chelsea were tiring. Sadly they weren't. Kept Hazard pretty quiet. Great saves from Forster. The Long/Mane strike force looks good to me. |
| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 23:05:43 A goal at last !!! Particularly good performances I thought from Maya, Ryan, Vic, Morgs, Sadio. The ref had a good game (and I thought that before we scored) which is unusual for us. I think we proved we can play with Shane at the front and take some pressure of Pelle. A goal, 3 points and a clean sheet. Perfect |
| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 11:55:44 We missed Morgan, Victor and Toby big-time in this game. Amazing we have done so well without them. Maybe a mistake to play Corky and not Harry given he always takes time to get back to match fitness. A lot of mixed performances here but best players for me were Jose, Graziano, JWP and Elia. Elia really shouldn't have been stuck on the touchline all the time, he's just scored 2 against Newcastle through the middle, what was he doing out there? We gave the ball away under no pressure at times and often when Nat & Ryan were forward so we were immediately stretched. Dusan? If things aren't going well then work harder and they will get better. Big job for Ronald to get him back in form. (You missed a sub Nick - Ryan Seager) |
| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 21:43:37 So no Morgan, Victor, Toby and yet we can still match a good Newcastle team away from home. Great team performance, particularly Jose, Harry Eljero. Ron plays it right again. Bit drunk, very happy. |
| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 16:56:59 Well, job done but I can't say I enjoyed it. Can't criticise much defensively, but going forward, apart from Shane's constant work rate and well taken goal, I can't really say anything. So many players didn't look comfortable in their roles - Ryan as a CB, Matt & Nat as wing backs, Dusan in the front 2. Don't know why, did we miss Morgan that much? Interesting to see how we cope without Morgan, Victor and Toby for a few weeks. Our top 4 position is going to be tough to maintain without them. (Please no more injuries!!!) |
| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 21:04:47 I find this a difficult one for ratings as we played 'ok' and this was a tricky tie with a confident championship team. I've seen us play much worse in similar games and win. So the issue is really that all our defensive players were fine and Victor MOTM for me again. Steve Davis really industrious and had a good game. EXCEPT we didn't score the 2nd goal and that is a failing in our attacking play. Usually Prem finishing beats Champ work-rate and that didn't happen. I love Stevo but he missed another one-on-one and Pelle can't score for toffee. Mind you I haven't watched the highlights yet and I'm expecting to see 2 cast-iron penalties that Shane should have had. What have refs got against the boy? He gets kicked all over the place and barely gets anything. |
| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 15:10:01 Some stand-out performances in defence with everyone contributing. Victor held the whole thing together in the middle and on a yellow for 70mins (unjustly) which is amazing. JWP involved in both goals I think. Steve D never stopped. Sadio was on fire, amazing goal. Pelle's link play was good, but he REALLY needs to stick the ball in the net. Harrison Reed is clearly a Duracell Bunny in disguise and can think, tackle and pass. Re: Saints in exile, Theo never plays against us, I think he was happy we won. Alex shows a worrying lack of loyalty by looking like he's trying to score against us and why does Callum get booed, what did he do different? |
| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 09:16:20 At last I've seen a Saints team that can play 3 at the back ... and it works because of Toby playing the sweeper so well. Well done to Maya and Florin too for looking so good. We were were good when Nat & Ryan got forward and looked vulnerable when they hung back and let Palace come on to us. Sadio answered his critics today, JWPs dead ball play excellent. RoKos half-time talk won us the game by stimulating the 2nd & 3rd goals after the break. Great day out and thanks to Saints for cheap coach travel, free lunch packs and Santa hats |
| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 12:05:15 I love watching this team adapt to whatever challenge they face. Every game is different but they keep working out how to win. Intelligent players and an intelligent manager with more plans than you can shake a stick at. Now lets see how we do against the so called 'top four' teams. |
| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 00:15:03 The difficult thing with a big win like this is every goal you score makes the opposition appear more crap so everyone says "but Sunderland were awful". But look at their results, they haven't been this awful before, we made them this bad because we played so well. We just kept scoring until their heads dropped ... and then scored some more. |
| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 19:38:09 A hard fought victory against a decent looking QPR. Stand out goals from Bertrand and Pelle. I can't believe how quickly these guys have become a team that fights for each other. Bertrand outstanding, Pelle always contributes even when he isn't scoring September's goal of the month and Mane is going to provide a lot of entertainment for us this season, he just loves to run at defences. We missed Victor when he went off and I was worried they were going to breach our defence once the man-mountain wasn't there. Shane Long needs a goal to boost his confidence. It won't be long. |
