| News Comment | Season Ticket Prices Frozen But It Is Not Enough ! at 12:35:53
Nick, I'm one of the disillusioned band, not only with Saints but the whole Premier league ethos, there's just no loyalty/connection between clubs/fans and players any more, gave up my 2 season tickets after 30 years last summer, no contact from the Club asking why. Was going to pick and choose games but didn't bother at all, watched the live games on the TV and was able to drown my sorrows quicker than facing a 70 mile car journey home. So I'm currently lost to live football as i'm not prepared to spend my hard earn't cash on multi millionaires just looking for there next big pay cheque to go to Liverpool! |
| News Comment | Gabbiadini Signing Finally Announced at 23:11:58
"With Jay Rodriguez, Shane Long and Nathan Redmond all in good form" REALLY how many goals from them all in how many games, what games has he been watching??? lets hope he hits the ground running as I'm not convinced Les has a clue what we do or don't need??? Sorry all you positive people out there but I think our "planning" is a joke, transfer deadline day, but that's me and I expect to be told I'm a whatever by certain posters on this site??? |

Carroll, thanks for the reply, I was under the impression that historically this cup final was as you described unlike the FA Cup which is very limited to "real"fans attending as it's mainly corporates, so I was surprised by the 31k figure. |
| News Comment | Arsenal And West Ham Games Sold Out at 11:23:38
Nick, as you mentioned in your earlier article this could help bring up your purchase record to qualify quicker for a Wembley ticket, as we get 31k tickets, which is about St Mary's full of home supporters do you know how many season ticket holders we now have? Will also be interesting if any more home games go on sale next week prior to the Wembley tickets? |
| News Comment | Saints V Leicester City The Preview at 20:05:41
Carroll, sorry fellow reader but I do have to correct you, we won the JPT and though this has escaped Nick's memory over the last few weeks I have to admit to it being one of my best days supporting this club, but I do agree that Nick this season, starting with "we've got our best ever squad in depth" through to his "joy" that we "engineered" Fonte out for £8m seems to have lost all sense of reality, not looking forward to tomorrow at all, it will be boring as that's our tactics, awful shame as this season started with so much optimism but after 45 years I'm questioning myself as to why I bother wasting hard earn't cash and being in debt, it's driving me mad but I just don't know why I bother when there is, regardless of what others say a lack of ambition and backbone at the club and its to easy to say it's "modern day football"', the selling senario does not seem to plague any other top flight club. Sorry to all you optimisist out there but that's how I feel and it's not a nice feeling?! |
| News Comment | Fonte Departure An Example Of Why Saints Have Had To Sell at 13:28:05
How is this a fantastic deal if he's not replaced, each league place we finish higher is worth how much? What happens if VVD is injured at the beginning of Feb? We have NO top premier league centre halfs at the club and the £8m will be peanuts as with no strike force and no defence we slip down the league? True madness and short sightedness if you ask me? |
| News Comment | Fonte Departure An Example Of Why Saints Have Had To Sell at 13:01:09
Nick, I admire your optimism, but I feel we have been fed too many red herrings this season, firstly, when Sammy Lee was employed one of the reasons given was he was "independent" of the Koemans for consistency if they left yet he was sacked when they left? We were told only weeks ago Fonte would only leave once we had a replacement? All the "extra" games due to Europe, in truth you can argue it was 3 extra games, play your strongest team in the first 4 European games and win your through, you can play kids in the last 2 and remember we got a bye in the first league cup game. All this concern that if we changed manager we would become Swansea, I would suggest a lot of Swansea's problems were due to cashing in on an"old" centre half by the name of A Williams who was their captain and leader who was not replaced, sound familiar? Any way come 01.09.17 I think we will have a team of what you descibe as "Yoshida" types as Fraser, Ryan, VVD and probably Cedric will all be sold, I pray to God I'm wrong? |

bstokesaint, I like your optimism, I'm guessing you travel from Basingstoke, I'm SW London so we both travel to "home" games, a lot of money and time on top of tickets, I know that you can never turn back time but it's now just money and we will never finish 2nd or Wimbledon come all the way up from div 4 to finish 2nd? Yes I know the unthinkable romance, but that's my problem, as I see it its all about money and dreams and romance are no longer, as I previously said it's very sad but I've now got other things needing investment so it's getting harder and harder to completely ignore the cost of football? |
| News Comment | Saints At Norwich City The Verdict at 19:52:45
Abingdonsaint, I totally agree with you that Bouremouth were a disgrace with 11 changes, they are effectively safe and a cup run/final would be brilliant for there fans, saddley that is not football today? Ambition is us building a team, not constantly selling, VVD has signed for a further 5 years from end of this season, see him in a Saints shirt on 01.09.17, no chance? That's why I say we lack ambition, we'll buy a few 10m players in the hope we stay up and can sell them at a profit, to me that's what's wrong? I appreciate your view but I want us to win something, though dismissed on her as not existing my best day out was the JPT final, before that the 2003 FA Cup final, then the ZDS final, league cup final in 79 and a couple of semi's in the FA cup. Now we appear to just want to settle for a comfortable league position as its now a "business" and not a "dream"? I'm of the "dreaming" type and as I said am falling out of love with this game which is now dominated by Sky's money, the fixtures are all over the place and unless your in the top 6 or somehow Leciesters miracle last year we stand to win NOTHING so why waste so much money and emotion? |
| News Comment | Saints At Norwich City The Verdict at 13:42:23
SaintBrock, could not agree more with your last sentence, I feel so dissolutioned with "The Premier League"/"football" in general and with our total lack of ambition I'm asking myself do I rearly want to continue paying out, very sad times? The attendance for this replay will be interesting to judge whether we will all just turn out like sheep or say enough is enough? |
| News Comment | Austin Injury Could Change Attacking Style at 22:26:49
Sorry Nick I can't agree, our football is awful and boring, it must be last gasp efforts to say our most prolific scorer is injured so we will happily change our style, sounds very strange to my simple perspective? Our rotation "experiment" is ridiculous again in my simple opinion, yes maybe 3 or 4 changes to freshen up the team or change tactics but 8 EVERY game is ridiculous, the Tinker Man never was so drastic, we have no Consistency??? Sorry after 45 years of giving money to this cause I am now so far adrift from what I want to see (some ambition, not winning every game BUT having a dream we will try) from the what the Board does (sell our best players and spend as little as possible) I will no longer renew my ticket, I sat on Sunday and was completly board, happy to see us win but I could of got that from reading about it, sat in the cold was hard work and I sat thinking was it worth it for "live" football. I have always considered myself proud that I put my money where my mouth was but now I'm reconsidering as the riches of the premier league are far removed from my humble lifestyle and SFC show me no hope anymore??? |
