| News Comment | Southampton Announce New Shirt Sponsors at 23:00:19
Why is it that whenever someone squeezes the words 'dynamic' and 'fusion' into the same sentence, I automatically think what a c**t? |
| News Comment | Southampton At Sunderland The (Damning) Verdict at 14:04:33
We were well beaten. We weren't good enough and we were possibly overconfident - none of our players came out of this game with any credit. However, we didn't lose 9 - 0. The players were poor but didn't down tools and we currently sit 7th with 10 points from five games - I believe that Burnley were in exactly the same position last season. Yet here we go again, people losing the plot, completely over the top criticism of the players and manager, the fans who travelled and were still singing in added on time at the end of the match have my full respect. The reactionistic, near jerk, panicking gibberers who are flooding social media platforms with their criticism - even calling for Martin to be sacked - are an embarrasment. I am really enjoying being back in a proper FOOTBALL league and I predicted at the start of the season mid-table or possibly squeaking the play-offs would be about right for this season, given the outgoings and limited investment. This also is not a problem to me, we have signed some very good players for this level and I would rather see us develop into a sustainable side that played good football than see more fortunes squandered on players who really aren't good enough or motivated enough. How do you motivate a 22 year-old millionaire into really trying to do anything apart from party and have a good time? |

A litany of apologies without actually apologising and accepting blame while constantly making excuses and insisting they were probably right really. The arrogance is astonishing. |
| News Comment | Who Will Be The Next Southampton Manager ! A Surprise Candidate Emerges. at 15:37:12
Having watched how Blackburn came roaring back against Millwall the other day, I think Jon Dahl Tomasson is worth serious consideration. Potter would be the man for me though Potter would be first choice if he is interested. He was at the club and it's more about the quality he assembled and developed in the Brighton squad which De Zerbis is reaping the rewards of now. if he hadn't gone to Chelsea, he would be doing the same as De Zerbie. Lets pick someone who is balanced, believes in playing the game the right way and balances good, experienced pros with developing bright young things as Bates, Lawrie and Nicholl all did. Then back them and give them time! No loonies need apply this time please. Yes I do mean you Nathan. |
| News Comment | Ruben Selles ! A Good Man In The Wrong Place At The Wrong Time at 14:33:57
Strangely, I knew we had made a mistake after he won his first game in charge away to Manchester City. Weird right but as the players pushed him toward the fans to receive the acclaim for the win, I imagined what Big Lawrie or Bally or even Koeman, Pochettino or Koeman would have done if the players had man-handled them like that! In Lawries case, probably a right hook! The problem was that as manager or head coach or whatever, you have to have a seperation between you and the players, it never works when their your mates and from the reaction, it was obvious that Selles was mates with a lot of the players. As a result, when things aren't going so well, how do you dish out a bollocking (Sex Pistols v Regina, Nottingham 24 November 1977) to your mates and how are they going to take it seriously? This is why so many former players fail when stepping up to the job when they have played there. Any halfwit knows this which brings us to the people who appointed him... |
| News Comment | Southampton Likely To Move Quickly To Replace Jones at 14:52:01
An old mate of mine lives in Leipzig and says Marsch was bobbins there too. I'm not at all impressed by the current field of runners. Leave it with Selles to the Summer. I think we're down but he may prove to be the answer and save us anyway. If not, I suspect there will be many better options between now and the Summer. I don't mind getting relegated, i won't stop being a Saints fan, we might have some excitement again. It wouldn't be the first time nor probably the last but get the right man so that we can bounce straight back. |
| News Comment | Danny Ings Linked With A Return To St Mary's at 12:54:10
He's a fox-in-the-box. I think he looked sharp for Villa but whilst I would welcolme his guile, I am still a bit hurt by his hunt for a big payday when we were doing our best to give him one. |
| News Comment | New Era Begins At Southampton Football Club at 12:45:14
As usual, you make a lot of good points. The problem is though that players play for their manager. A truly inspirational leader like Fergie or Big Lawrie would have the players so motivated and so nervous of letting them down, that they would never dare walk around the pick like some of ours have during this catestrophic last 12 games. Also, losing 0-9 once is totally unacceptable and should never happy to a team in the same division as you. For it to happen twice is unforgiveable. In deference to the work Ralph has done for the club, I believe that he should be offered an executive position, possibly as a Director of Football, and a new manager, someone young and hungry with new ideas, should be given the job. Look at the work Potter has done at Brighton. No goalscorer, little money yet they finished ninth, only conceded 4 in one game and generally played good positive football. By comparison, we did very poorly and they are a comparable club. The difference is that their players really worked for Potter, they had pride and they had fight. We didn't with some exceptions, notably JWP, Forster, Salisu & Livra. |
| News Comment | Charlie Austin Is Wrong ! Staying At Saints Is The Best Option For James Ward Prowse at 12:53:37
JWP is our main man. Most people with eyes understand this. He's provided goals, assists, passes and hard work - tackling back and marking. I suspect all top clubs envy that delivery, free kicks and penalty reliability coupled with the work rate. He would be irreplaceable and we should be talking like West Ham about their man, Rice. £150m or go away unless JWP decides that he wants Champions League in which case we should still demand huge bucks. |
