Eze ruptures achilles 10:23 - May 19 with 11128 views | BAWHoops | Poor bloke. Reports say he's out for 6-8 months. Did this myself last summer, really horrible injury. Such a shame, seemed as though he was set to be the main man next season at Palace as well

Eze ruptures achilles on 10:36 - May 19 with 6086 views | bosh67 | Terrible news. Such a brilliant lad and player. Wishing him a quicker recovery than predicted and hopefully he can get his achilles back to full strength. The surgery at that level for athletes is pretty amazing these days. Huge blow for him. I had a feeling he was going to be on his way to the likes of Man Utd, Man City or even Barcelona before too long. Hopefully that will still be the case one day. He also must have been knocking hard on the England squad door. All the best to him for his recovery. Genius player and top top human being.

Eze ruptures achilles on 10:53 - May 19 with 5988 views | karl | Brutal injury. There's a Hearts player John Souttar, his brother is Harry at Stoke, who did one and after the long slow recovery he did the other very shortly into his comeback. He's played 2 or 3 games at the end of thus season so hopefully he's back now, missed nearly 2 seasons of football. I snapped mine on a coaching course last January, it was bloody sore! Still not right but have suffered the lack of health care in Covid times as I haven't had anything other than a boot put on and never seen a physio or doctor since the day I did it. Being an old dude and getting a bit of swelling isn't the worst thing in the world of course. Hope Ebere can recover quickly, will be an important time for him and making the next step up
Eze ruptures achilles on 10:54 - May 19 with 5975 views | dolcelatte | I did this in New York Marathon November 2019. Finally returned to training last week, 18 months later but I'm a lot older!! Tried to comeback twice in the interim and broke down both times. Not a nice one..

At amateur level they get your foot in a boot with the toe pointing down and basically let it mend itself. I would imagine at elite level and the value of Ebere that they will have top level surgery. John Souttar was out for the 6-8 months quoted above after his first one. In theory the achilles is supposed to be back to normal as far as I know
Eze ruptures achilles on 11:04 - May 19 with 5904 views | switchingcode | Dreadful news for him after proving he’s every bit a top PL player and I expected one of the top six to come in for him and must have been on Garreth’s radar.Hope he has a quick and successful recovery.

Cheers Karl. They both sound horrendous. I'm a meniscus man and luckily mine healed itself even though I took the giant leg bandage the hospital gave me off. The Contactor manager here has to have an operation to fix his torn one.

Eze ruptures achilles on 11:20 - May 19 with 5754 views | ParkRoyalR | Poor lad, just shows how the highs & lows of being a professional athlete, Pleased he got his big move before this set-back, and that he has more than proved himself as a Premier League level player, Given the setbacks he has had in his career, knowing he has proved himself at the highest level, having been rejected by so many clubs, should be of comfort.
Eze ruptures achilles on 11:22 - May 19 with 5739 views | SydneyRs | Good luck for a speedy recovery. The biggest shock here is that this didn't happen just before we sold him.
Eze ruptures achilles on 11:32 - May 19 with 5670 views | nix | So sorry for him. What a blow. I'm sure he'll get the best treatment, knowing how important he is to Palace. They must be devastated though as I think the team might have been built around him next season, especially with so many players out of contract there. In some ways it's a good time, although obviously better not to happen at all, as he's missing out on close season rather than more matches. Hoping for a quick recovery for him.
Eze ruptures achilles on 11:32 - May 19 with 5667 views | BAWHoops | I did it in August playing football. Heard the pop and knew instantly what had happened. Had surgery and surgeon took photos which he sent to my phone The achilles had completely snapped and was shredded. 3 months in a boot and was able to run a bit in January. 6 months until physio and doctor signed me off I'm sure his age and the fact he's a professional sportsman will see him come back

Fair point, Nix. If he's going to miss 6-8 months, then 2 months of it may as well be over the Summer. That should be some consolation. I'd imagine Angel Rangel has already been on to him as well with advice and encouragement.

Absolutely rotten fortune that this is the summer and season of a new manager squad revamp though.

Neither was David Bardsley who missed nearly two seasons but again it was 25 years ago and he was in his early 30s. Get well soon Ebs. [Post edited 19 May 2021 12:00]

Eze ruptures achilles on 12:05 - May 19 with 5487 views | MrSheen | Has he definitely committed to England? I heard Nigeria were desperate to get him in their World Cup plans. Not great timing (though when would be a good time?) with a new coach coming in at Palace, who presumably is going to be given cash to spend on a replacement.
Eze ruptures achilles on 12:38 - May 19 with 5319 views | CliveWilsonSaid | Terrible news. Hopefully a quick recovery! A guy I play cricket with did it last Summer. Just started to do a run and he went to ground in agony and had to be carried from the pitch. He said he heard it go and it was torn length ways apparently… Just coming back to playing now, would have played Sunday but we were rained off.

Eze ruptures achilles on 12:47 - May 19 with 5272 views | francisbowles | Really bad news, just as he was beginning to up his game in the top division. Get well soon Ebs and when you are ready to start playing again, a loan back here would be an option to get regular first team games, so you are ready for Palace in 22/23.
