Exeter City 1 v 2 Reading EFL League One Tuesday, 22nd October 2024 Kick-off 19:45 |
Luke Williams on restructure & Cabango Friday, 18th Oct 2024 08:00 by Liam Walters On the eve of the Swans game away at Blackburn Rovers, head coach, Luke Williams doesn’t know if either of his on trial players, Adam Reach and Cyrus Christie will sign for the club. Both are out of contract, but it seems the man in charge at Swansea City and the squad has no idea regards what happens next. Luke has divulged. “We have identified two very good quality players, that are without a contract at the moment, it was a good week or so for us because there were less numbers in the training group” As we have already reported there have been no actual contractual discussions with either player, However, we do stand corrected, the Swans do know their ball park contract demands. The fact neither has even been spoken to we will leave for you to think through and work out. Luke confirmed this, “I can’t tell you things at the moment because we haven’t had the discussions first” Luke agreed that both players could make a difference to the club calling them high level players. We can’t point the finger too much as the head coach has nothing to do with financial discussions, and we still believe the final word comes from many thousands of miles away. Hopefully that will change at some point, but probably not in the near future. As Luke Williams stated. “Two brilliant players, high level players, and two very good characters as well” But not signed after nine days at the club. Luke Williams did confirm that Ben Cabango was managing some ‘soreness’ which has been worked on since Wednesday morning. Luke did start to ramble a bit on Cabango's fitness, opting in the end to say. “Well, he trained today, so all good” For us, once again it is nice to hear in general conversation details we are reporting on this website. For example, Harry Darling, a few weeks back when Williams confirmed our report that he had been spoken to about his contract. Not as was stated by Harry. It did come with a caveat from Luke. We appreciate that. Andrew Coleman also confirmed this to us. Those reports are in our news sections. Again, we respect our sources, but even slight recognition as to our Cabango news is welcome. And it seems he may be available for Saturday. Sam Parker, amidst his return from injury has now gone down with flu and is recovering at home, so he won’t be involved on Saturday by all accounts. On the fixture this coming Saturday Williams was making no excuses for the travelling time with two away games in a matter of days. “In the real world there are more challenges around playing away from home. It’s something we are accustomed to and we won’t be using as an excuse for an under par performance” Luke Williams has also stated that Captain Matt Grimes, has ‘bypassed’ the most opponents in a game since he has been head coach. Claiming that Grimes has made one hundred and sixty ‘by passes’ taking out opposition players with his precision passing. All that in one game was a shock though. On the departure of Sporting Director, Paul Watson, Williams claimed. “It was a decision made above my head, so I can’t talk too much about details” Although he did explain he already knows who he has to speak to now Watson has gone. And they are ‘different people’ He is also now aware of who will speak to him on certain matters. A job Watson used to do. Luke described it as a very professional and quick process which he is pleased with. That makes us happy that he is happy. It’s been a political time at the club, and it was a pleasure to be involved in our report yesterday on the internal rumblings at the club. I must say it was also nice to see we rattled a few cages of the usual ‘big heads’ who dominate people on social media. Well, you won’t do that to us. And of course, that definitely won’t be happening to us. Hey, the little old Indy, kicking a can past your house and waking you up from the perceived safety within your very fragile brick walls.
