It's a bit like watching two bald men fighting over a comb, but I'd almost rather have Dozzell back than endure any more of Madsen. |

If I were a betting man, I'd lump on that we'll lose to Plymouth and Leicester beat whoever they're playing next time out. Meanwhile, I'm still wondering what MC means when he talks of 'learning' from today. That Ashby, Madsen and (for some) Saito shouldn't be anywhere near starting berths? No shit, Sherlock! That six changes to a winning, cohesive team makes about as much sense as a chocolate teapot? Check! That to actually progress in the Cup means focussing all your best players on the task in hand, (Nardi, Smyth, Frey, Dunne, Morgan - who apparently knew he was getting a rest during his post-match interview after Luton) not dropping them to the bench and flinging one or two on when we've lost the game. You don't say? Perhaps another clever poster could enlighten us on today's lesson if I'm wrong about everything once again. |

'I wanted to continue in that development with the team and not make too many changes in that sense. I feel we are in a process where we are getting better, doing things better, and in a certain way. That's why I wanted to continue that.' Wise words - I only wish he'd been managing us for this game. Tbh, the game was up as soon as their team sheet and ours went public! Hopefully the QPR management team is taking note, even if it's shutting the stable door after our F A Cup nag has, once again, bolted into the black! [Post edited 11 Jan 19:09]

So, re (2), the fog was an asymmetric fog that only affected us, then, while, re (4), we lost today because the future must resemble the past? Just asking for a slow friend. |
| Forum Reply | What's your view of today's F A Cup exit? at 18:40 11 Jan 2025
Am genuinely fascinated that LfWorders are split right down the middle between indifference and rage/depression about today's events. We're about as united on this topic as Trump's America or Brexit referendees, which is worth knowing, I think. (I agree with the poster who can't get his head around the former.) Looks genuinely upset, and a bit bewildered to boot - as I might be if I'd lost my central defensive partner and was forced to nurse a young loanee through his first start. Feel sorry for him, but he's the least of our problems from today. |

Phew! That's all right then! Changing half the team, not putting on any subs till we'd let in four or five, while telling the fans beforehand we were 100% committed doesn't come into it. Nothing to see here - silly me! |

Me too. Is he still without a club? |
| Forum Reply | Effect on Team Form - Momentum Changer !! at 17:52 11 Jan 2025
I find it actually quite scary the extent to which people try to rationalise/minimise a 6-2 defeat (in a cup game we're also told beforehand the club is all in for, yes siree, the times, they are a changin' etc.) to safeguard their image of Marti's messiahdom and keep their blue and white goggles on at all costs. Apparently, confidence isn't a thing after all, the likes of Walsh, Ashby and Edwards have done their stock no harm at all, and the magnificent 5,000 travelling fans (who I would suggest are actually being placed in the role of 'useful idiots' by the club) will understand, even if Marti's a bit sad tonight. If I were Ilias Chair, say, a guy who bleeds blue and white (and who would get my vote for the best thing at the club every day of the week), I'd be spitting feathers after today's fiasco. I'd love to know what he feels about today's team sheet. [Post edited 11 Jan 18:07]

God, you're obsessed with any point you can be seen to score at my expense, aren't you - even to the point of laughing about the result of a poll other fans have voted in because you think I might be uptight about it? (I'm not.) Tbh, I find it quite sad. [Post edited 11 Jan 17:44]

That's what it looks like to me too. Just seen the post-match interview, where he says he's frustrated at the misstakes. Nothing about the selection, subs, or unsettling the side before we kicked off. I'm also curious as to what he thinks we need to 'learn' from the game, which he also mentioned without expanding on it. Perhaps not taking out your best players and playing your newest and/or worst might be a plausible first lesson, but I must be missing the 'data', I guess. |

But why does said manager give it large about changing the club's cup 'culture' (which makes me think of a bacterial culture) and trying to win every game etc. etc.? Is that OK too when it's clearly not true? |
| Forum Reply | Leicester City v Q.P.R Match Type Thread. at 17:33 11 Jan 2025
Why does the view that he's the 'best thing at the club 'currently (if one assumes that for the sake of argument) preclude reasonable criticism of e.g. his team selection today? I'm glad Marti has a decent groundswell of support among matchday fans, but why does that mean I and others here can't put forward any number of more nuanced or complex views, which can include - here's a blood-curdling thought - both praise AND criticism? (As, blow me down with a feather, I did myself recently, when praising him for bringing on the likes of Morgan and Varane while still insisting he is clearly learning on the job and getting some things badly wrong!) Or perhaps you think I should just sing or say things because a lot of others do. As for putting down an overseas fan for, uh, living overseas (who, to repeat, watches every game at least once on a variety of media and reads a great deal of reportage on all things QPR) well, I'll leave that where it belongs. I think Saito deserves almost as much flak as Ashby today. True, he didn't directly give away any goals, but (i) offered him no protection and (ii) did next to nada going forwards. |

Genuine question: Why would you/anyone be with Marti (or any man) 'no matter what'? Once again, we're following a football club, not a cult. [Post edited 11 Jan 17:07]

Thanks for that. I'll try to do better next time with my spread of answers and calibrating these in even more nuanced ways. (Perhaps you could start a poll about how/why my polls are sub=optimal?) In the meantime, it's informative to see you think 39% of our fans (or those on here, just in case that's still not clear to anyone) are 'mad'. |

I know some on here can't bear to value or think about the post-match interview, but this one ought to be interesting. 6-2 is 6-2, and I thikn most sane people here would agree MC has legitimate questions to answer. |
