I agree. Only Martin has talen a while to see it . Gutsy performance from him yet again today, the team has a bit more bite when he plays |

The yanks had a perfect chance to sign Joe Allen yonks ago, they didn't want to make that no brainer signing then, but fancy it now that he's 32yrs old had a big injury and is coming to the end of his career. Sums up the way our club is run. Also, the talk of Joe returning is surely a signal that Downes and/or Piroe will be sold, its a name that will be the perfect smokescreen for yet more selling of assets while the fan fair of a local hero returning softens the blow of losing the talent that would help us gain Premier league |

He's the worst keeper we've had for about 20 yrs, not his fault he was signed ,tries his best but doesn't do the basics well enough for us to be contenders. Stupid signing and a waste of money . I personally thought we had better options at the club already. |

The way he moved it to spilt their front players then carried it forward was just class . They had no answer to his boldness on the ball . Id love him to Get player of the season, he’s playing the most high risk football in the team and making it look easy. Hope hes finally getting the credit his talent deserves. Centre half, either full back, defensive /centre midfield or wing back and never looks out of place in any of those positions. Class footballer and top professional. |

That is the smoking gun for me. Couldnt do it at a lower level yet gets a decent job at a championship Club, no track record at all yet we Are supposed to trust him to build something better . The gamble hasnt paid off so time to Get rid. |

Pathetic from us. Time time to say goodbye to Martin and his clueless football, ossie ardelise football without the goals . What happened to keeping things tight away from home when your getting constantly murdered ? I dont see anything changing and it will only ensure the likes of flynn downes and piroe will be more than happy to move in the summer . Real next level stuff indeed. |

Naughton s problem is that he is a good enough footballer to play practically anywhere on the field, something that some of our fans seem to forget. He has occupied a number of positions and held his own, changing his way of playing well into his 30’s . There aren’t that many who could play any position in the back ,left right or center let alone take up a role in a defensive midfield . Not sure why so many are blind to his positive aspects and only focus on negatives . If he was expert at any of those positions he would be plying his trade at a higher level, and in fairness mostly has, for a player approaching the end of his career I find his ability to adapt in the latter years a real plus for us,especially as cost and squad size will be an issue without parachute payments. Sometimes it’s better to look at the overall picture and not the fact he got sent off a few years back and didn’t do well against a beast of a player like Mitrovic, who bullies center halves on a weekly basis. Give the bloke a bit of credit for being able to perform to a good standard where ever any coach decides to play him . |

All well and Good , 2/3 Windows etc. but in modern football do you realistally think any manager gets that amount of time ? Squad may not be Good enough but Martin would have known the situation before taking the job, you’d have ti be a special kind of numpty to expect the Swans owners to buy you a new team and give you over a year to rebuild it . |

So subbed because he was ill or because he was playing defensive midfield ? I guess the point here is that i felt downes looked a more complete player who would be a better option than grimes if adding an attacking option. He didnt look fooked but i dont know his fitness level. It does look that its always other players that make way irrelevant of how the captain is performing. |

Considering he is playing out of position against top quality he did ok . What do you expect? |
| Forum Reply | Fulham v Swansea City : Matchday Thread 2021/22 TEAMS at 22:07 29 Sep 2021
Downes is a better footballer than grimes, Martin didnt fancy taking off the captain, no point of putring on a striker when one of the guys pulling the strings behind will not move it quick or forward ! No point in chewing the fat about which position downes is, the formation is so fluid its hard to actually designate defind roles. |
| Forum Reply | Naughton at 21:52 29 Sep 2021
Nah not for me, he’s a Good footballer . His problem is that he can more or less play anywhere and does most weeks! |
| Forum Reply | Fulham v Swansea City : Matchday Thread 2021/22 TEAMS at 21:46 29 Sep 2021
Yes, if Martin is going to keep playing ozzy ardiles football then hevjust as well play grimes at the back at least then theres a Good chance the ball may go forward ! The subbing off of downes was a mad one . Our football is generally getting better, but overall it looks like the manager doesnt know his best team , formation or tactics. Lucky dip selections and a hope that something works seems to be the formula. Onto the next one. Fulham are a Good team we arnt. |

Its all a bit naff really . Bin Grimes and Cabango please, one is an alleged captain who is a spesialist in passing to the opposition and takes a vow of silence before each game, the other hasn’t learnt to pass and has no abililty to read a game, absolute liabilities with this style of play. Its exciting football but for all the wrong reasons, All icing and no cake, all a bit naff. |

My Swans TV has crashed and burned, much like our performance so far. Just before half time, the feed was lost and its telling me to buy a subscription... robbing coonts mun! As for what I've seen so far, everything we all know we. No cutting edge up front and as the quality players leave they get replaced with watered down talent. Love what the manager is trying to do but we don't have anywhere near the class if player we had when starting our journey under Roberto. Early days though, let's see after 10 games. |

What ever happened to Paco by the way? Last I saw of him was doing food in George yonks ago. Miss them stuffed mushrooms ! |

Agree with this. i thought we only kept him around as back up if/when we ended up in the championship, seemed strange why we sold /got rid of him and the likes of Rangel when the drop came . I think if the board held their nerve and kept a few if those boys around a swift return to the Premier league was well within our grasp . Anyway, decent player but always liable to drop a clanger at the top level, especially as the season gets into full swing and the top players start sliding into gear . |

Maybe so, I'm sure Phil S would not approve of your idea mind, but leaking people's personal details on threads is a serious matter and a breach of data protection . Will it be the same over on the new site too ? |
