| Forum Thread | Pubs showing Brum game ? at 15:14 1 Jan 2022
Does anyone know any pubs showing tomorrow’s game? Everything I can see says the Sky overlords removed red button games from pubs a few years back but surely somewhere will have it on? |

Having taken full advantage of the Help Out To Eat Out scheme, had a lovely meal at Vine Leaves Taverna on the Uxbridge Road last night (friendly staff and fantastic portion sizes). I noticed that apart from the queue going round the block to get into Nandos, the area still felt a bit dead and made me think about all the pubs, restaurants and cafes we associate with Rangers and the match day experience and how much we're all missing it. Clive's recent piece put it so well that it's like visiting a model village. Apart from the Coningham Arms and Princess Victoria, both were quite busy last night, it seems a lot of the other local businesses are slowing waking from their slumber. Here's hoping we're allowed back into HQ sooner rather than later and some of these places are still here to keep us fed and watered. In the meantime, if you don't live too far away, why not pop down to one of them...God knows they need it. |
| Forum Thread | New Stadium & Statues at 12:28 3 May 2020
With slight boredom during the lockdown kicking in, coupled with how much I'm missing Saturday afternoons in W12, it got me thinking about possibilities with a new stadium (if that day ever comes) and what we as fans would want to see. Obviously try and avoid the route of Arsenal and West Ham and maybe take some inspiration from Spurs and Brentford (although I think Lionel Road looks a bit underwhelming but love the idea of a microbrewery that Spurs have adopted.) Clearly the site at Linford Christie is our last viable option to stay in the borough but it worries me about a proposed capacity of 30,000, we'd never fill that even if we made a return to the top flight. Make it 25k max, keep the stands close to the pitch and I think we'd be onto a winner. I've also been a bit envious of other clubs who have statues of former players and managers outside stadiums, I'm surprised it's something we've never considered and hope we put this right in the future. Arsenal already have four statues outside the Emirates, which might seem like overkill but who would you like to see immortalized in bronze for us? I've opted for these three... | Forum Thread | Player of the Year at 13:59 11 Apr 2018
I know we won't be holding a glitzy party for this anytime soon, but it's refreshing to be able to put some thought into it. I'm guessing player of the year nominees are going to be Freeman, Luongo, Smith and Smithies. I'd go for Freeman as he's topped the assists chart in a struggling team and can't imagine where we'd be in the table without his contribution. Young player of the year will be very interesting and appears much harder to call. Obviously a toss up between Smyth and Eze, it could deservedly go either way. Both on two goals but I think Smyth just edges it after his debut goal for the senior Northern Ireland team. Goal of the season is one with slimmer pickings, the only noticeable strikes I can recall are Scowen's winner at home to Barnsley and Freeman's blistering effort in the reverse fixture at Oakwell. |
