Fair enough Pat, but personally I thought the atmosphere was "ok" certainly not saying it was thunderously loud though. Maybe if we won a few more home games it may inspire a bit more noise . Our fans song repertoire is pretty lame that's for sure. I really wish we could come up with a few more original songs/chants but as Frannies Tache says not enough people want to join in when they've come up with something new and rather sing the anti pompey guff instead. I do like the noise and singing of the copied Scouse song as much as it pains me to admit , but it's got a real uplifting vibe about it. At the end of the day we're singing to hopefully to lift our players and I'm sure they couldn't give a monkeys about where the song originated from. We need more simple catchy songs as I reckon they'll catch on eventually....remember how loud and uplifting the good old...Ole...ole ole ole......Guly...Guly.. Simple and easy to join in. |

Yep, I thought the Northam were OK yesterday. I agree that the anti Pompey songs are pathetic but from where I'm sat in the middle of the Itchen, the home support is louder and the away fans sound alot quieter . Particularly when the whole Northam sang the song where they namecheck Mickey Channon, that sounded proper loud and it's a far better than the Onuachu one which us a bit wrap tbh. Surely we can come up with something better and a bit more tuneful than the current dreary one and maybe a line about his tallness rather than the size of his "member" Have to say though Tall Paul's performance was a definite bright spot along with Dibling and Fernandes. The majority of the home crowd have taken to him and it really lifted the atmosphere . You could sense almost the audible shock that wow this guy is actually a pretty decent player and although he had no goal attempts in his time on the pitch he can certainly control the ball and beat a player which goes against the many wise old men on here who have been telling us otherwise. Maybe he won't be a world beater but at the moment anything positive is worth gripping onto imo. |

Brighton's sucess was built around a system of play and good recruitment...and patience. They were more sensible than us as they focused on defence and pragmatism and survived their first couple of seasons before stepping up the pace . Dunk..Academy Macallister.. 12.5m Caicado....3m Grob..3m Mitoma..3m Lallana..free Wellbeck..free . Cucarella ..15m It can be done cheaply and wisely but you need clever/ lucky recruitment and stability. |

I wouldn't say we need to spend that much. Maybe a few 30m players would help but for a club like ours it's about clever/lucky recruitment imo. Clearly our recruitment has been pretty woeful apart from the odd success and we were too loyal to some of the (at best) Championship standard performers. I'm as fed up as everyone else at our terrible start and likely relegation. But a part of me wants to believe a long term plan and system of play which I personally don't mind when it works over season by season grit it out struggle for survival. Maybe the owners and manager have tried to run before they can walk at this level and we should have been more pragmatic this season to survive first and foremost and then we could have attracted better quality players to build the team to suit the club and managers vision..ie Brightons way. |

I often wonder how both the Prince of Wales and the Chapel Arms survive apart from the once a fortnight home game to fill their boots. These areas are pretty ethnically diverse and I can't imagine the local population are big pub goers anymore. Good luck to the Engineer Arms , hopefully it survives and prospers. |

Similar to Adam Armstrong really..no real threat at the top level, neither our prem players. |

It was crab football at its worst . Stoke occasionally counterattacked . All very predictable. Classic EFL cup night tbh. |

Since the Internet began to dominate people's lives there has been an absolute explosion in people who have stopped believing in reality as we know it. Imo it's either an understandable blip as our brains are struggling to cope with information overload or it really is the sign of a species on a path to extinction. |

I thought we barely pressed them all afternoon . If you cant see any of his attributes well what about the blatant penalty we should of had due to his physical presence causing the Leicester defender to panic . What about the through ball to Sulemana ? No one would claim he's a world beater but it's not like we have a wealth of attacking talent is it? |

Same as my lad and myself tbh. Going to watch Eastleigh is less street inducing and more of a old school football experience. Yesterday was me done with this manager. Clueless subs, absolutely no idea how to defend, sticking to his principles where clearly we just hand the momentum to opposition by giving the ball away in both defence and midfield...suicide football. |
