Bye Bye Page 😁.
at 01:03 22 Jun 2024

Think you need to check your facts. Giggs did in fact do most of the leg work to get us to the Euros and was subsequently suspended which meant Page had to take over it quite difficult circumstances. But it was Page who led us through the qualifying campaign for the World Cup.

I take no joy in seeing Page sacked. Yes I thought it was time for a change, but I have no doubt he's a proud Welsh man who tried his heart and soul. I don't agree with some of his decisions/tactics, and was unhappy with the performance in the last two tournaments, but I'm sure he did what he genuinely thought was right with integrity and respect and deserves the same back from the fans.

Thank you Rob for your efforts. I truly hope you have a long and successful career in management.

It's a matter of opinion. Personally I felt we were found out far too easily in the 2020 Euros when we came up against Denmark and we didn't have a plan B.

To be fair to Page, he took over the reigns in difficult circumstances then and was new to international management, so i think he deserved some leeway.

He guided us to our first world cup in 64 years and deserved the plaudits for that. But once again come tournament time we got found out. I'm not saying we were necessarily favourites to get out of the group but there were 2 poor performances against reasonable opposition and we had our backsides handed to us by England.

At that point, following two underwhelming tournaments, I personally elt we needed another direction.

Give him credit, he got us to within a penalty shootout of qualifying for a 3rd successive tournament - but we didn't.

As I've mentioned recently, I'm not calling for his head based on the last two friendlies, the results aren't important, and it's an opportunity to try out new tactics/players. But overall, whilst there have been some positives and I thank him wholeheartedly for the effort, I think we need someone different to take us forward... My problem is I just don't know who would be better either!

I'm not sure about your last statement, we haven't produced a good Kabaddi player for some time either!

With regards to "bringing kids on". I can't see how an international manager is expected to do that given the time they have with the players. Yes there's an integration period into senior international football, some take it it quickly, other over more time, but an international manager does not have the access or resources to improve players individually. That's down to them as players and their clubs who pay them for their services.

As an international manager, it's about being able to select the right team (players), tactics and motivation to get the best out of them in short periods of time.

As much as I like him as a person, he seems a really decent bloke, I thought he should have gone after the world cup where it felt like we limped out without really firing a shot.

He shouldn't be sacked purely on the Gibraltar result. It was a youngish and inexperienced side, no issue with him having a look and trying some new things in a meaningless match. However, the players who didn't deliver (against a team they should have) should be questioned more in my opinion.

The return of National Service
at 09:10 27 May 2024

I have 2 sons under the age of 16 and am in support of a form of National Service within reason.

I am in no way supportive of them being made to sign up to a role that would result in them directly involved in combat. However, support roles for the military where they could learn new skills (Engineering/Driving/Administration/Logistics) etc i'd be fully in support for (as well as other trades).

Do I think every young person should be called up? No... Some children have career plans where they may want to go on to university and have professional jobs in say medical, law or technology roles.

I would however support a programme where young adults are supported via a National Service Programme where they have not gone on to further education, secured a job or apprenticeship. These are the individuals who need support and guidance for the future, and if they can help out the national cause at the same time then I'm all for it. Not sure what the cost would be (for this scaled down group) but these are the individuals who end up on the benefits system in the future, so hopefully a decent % of that can be avoided meaning less spent on benefits and pressure on our NHS.

How many do you think will come in this week ?
at 12:35 30 Aug 2023

3 in. None out (that we want to lose) but may trim the squad of fringe players with quick sales/loans out.

Unless we already have an experienced and powerfull CB lined up as a replacement I expect the Swans Hierarchy to stick two fingers up to the saints and retain woods services (until January at least).

Thanks Keith. Didn't make it last night so first time I'm seeing this. Not sure where our CB's were for Brooks equaliser. He had that much space I can't even work out who should have been marking him.

Wouldn't a 7 figure fee be between 1m and 9.9m?

What we need
at 13:08 29 Aug 2023

Why? Darling may have been one of his signings that he brought to Swansea but having 2 full seasons and seeing how players cope in certain situations and have developed he's going to be in for the best players he can get for the best price. Not funny... It's just football - remember there's little loyalty in the game these days.

Absolutely not. But don't think he's come here to play left back either. I suspect he could be moved to the right and fight it out/rotate with Key but is adequate to cover the left slit if/when needed

My money is on Dyche getting the bullet first which I'd be gutted about because I actually think he's a great guy and an underrated manager. Difficult club to manage at the moment that.

Depends how well Nathan Tjoe-A-On settles in. If he's as good as we all hope hopefully he'll be a first choice and start 30+ games with Ashby able to cover there if needed.

What we need
at 12:31 27 Aug 2023

in order (in my opinion based on Duff continuing with 5 at the back with Wing backs)

(1) Commanding and experienced Centre Back
(2) A strong box to box CM who has vision to play forward
(3) Additional Striker to compete with Yates, Cullen and Kuharevich.

Mason Greenwood Released by Man United ...
at 18:55 21 Aug 2023

I'm not sure where this post is aimed at. Initially it was just a fact that Greenwood has been released by Man U.

Then there seems to be an attack on the club and his lawyers.

Let me make this very clear, looking at the evidence I have seen, it was horrific, clearly a young man with very little respect for the opposite sex and how to treat a partner.

That said, I don't think the club could have done anymore than complete a full and thorough investigation upon the completion of the legal case and make its decision based on those findings. Which they've done by correctly releasing Greenwood. Had they stood by him and promised to help him redeem and rehabilitate himself then I could understand why there would be dissolution from the football community but they've come up with the right conclusion in my opinion.

As for the Manchester United lawyers, do we know for a fact the clubs lawyers represented him and he didn't use the services of a top lawyer he obtained personally?

As for lawyers... we have a fair system in the UK where everyone is entitled to legal council, he has the right to appoint the best his money can pay for like everyone else (unfortunately as stated by a previous poster the ones who charge the amount tend to be the best in creating smoke and mirrors or finding legal loop holes - hence why they're deemed so good and can charge a king's ransom) . It's just a shame the case collapsed before going to court which stinks of an out of court settlement to me.

I hope he's learnt a valuable lesson and has a chance to start somewhere again be it in football or outside the game, but I for one would not want to see him anywhere near a Swansea shirt.

Matt Grimes new deal ?

He's not a bad lad. Seems a nice bloke, leads the team professionally. Technically gifted but frustrates due to constantly missing the opportunity to put in the best pass.

Hopefully as others said, with Duff and an energetic Patino ahead of him his game may start to blossom.
