fermin I actually went to that game. Colchester are less than twenty miles from where I live. Oxford deserved it and their small band of supporters made more noise than the home fans (crammed into one open stand). I follow my local non-league side Witham Town as I have given up on the Premiership (lapsed Hammers Fan). The cost has put me off. |
| Forum Reply | I'm finding that I am being strangely sucked in by the charm of Rochdale at 20:16 15 Jun 2017
Your going through what I did a couple of seasons back. I first got into football in the 77-78 season with West Ham being my team. They got relegated that campaign. However, I looked at the football league tables at the end of the season and saw Rochdale finish at the bottom of the pile. I've had more than a soft spot for them ever since. Two years ago I made my first trip to Spotland as well as taking in Dale away games down South. I'm Essex based. |

I'll be there. Live less than 20 miles away from Colchester. Hope to meet a few Dale fans on the day. Nothing riding on the game but hope Dale put in a shift at least for those travelling from Lancashire. |

Any one tried buying the new kits online? Have just tried and I keep getting 'out of stock'. |

I will be at the ground around 12 noon to 12:30. An email from the trust said to be at the ground for noon but my room, at Fernhill, might not be ready until then, so I might be a little bit late. As long as I get the lunch and the game in I'll be happy! Dave |

Any other Dale Exiles on this board that will be going to this Saturday's Exiles day at Spotland? I will be travelling up from deepest Essex and hope to meet up with other Exiles on the day. Maybe round off the day with a drink or two at the Cem! |
| Forum Thread | League 1 Average Home Crowd v Points Table at 16:00 30 Dec 2015
Have been working on a league table that takes into account each League 1 clubs' average home attendance v the points gained. I have used the Football Web Pages site for the stats so I hope it is accurate. I took the average home attendance and compared it against the points gained so far computing how many spectators where needed per each point gained. There will be a little variation as some clubs have played fewer/ more games than others. I was genuinely shocked to see Rochdale in second place. A testimony to how well Keith Hill has done with the available resources? The stats below are: League Position, Average Home Attendance Position, Team, Average Home Attendance, Points gained so far, Average Home Attendance v Points gained. This is how the table has worked out: Pos Att Team Av Home Points HvPts 2 22 Burton Albion 3692 48 76.9 13 24 Rochdale 3354 31 108.2 1 14 Walsall 5472 48 114.0 14 21 Scunthorpe United 3724 31 120.1 3 12 Gillingham 6179 47 131.5 12 19 Bury 4353 33 131.9 11 16 Port Vale 4867 33 147.5 21 23 Fleetwood Town 3412 23 148.3 6 13 Peterborough United 5669 37 153.2 7 10 Southend United 6475 37 175.0 15 11 Doncaster Rovers 6275 31 202.4 17 15 Shrewsbury Town 5303 26 204.0 24 20 Colchester United 4101 20 205.1 5 6 Wigan Athletic 8394 40 209.9 22 18 Oldham Athletic 4394 20 219.7 23 17 Crewe Alexandra 4457 20 222.9 16 7 Swindon Town 7578 28 270.6 18 8 Blackpool 6774 25 271.0 9 4 Millwall 9237 34 271.7 20 9 Chesterfield 6594 24 274.8 4 3 Coventry City 12970 44 294.8 19 5 Barnsley 9172 24 382.2 10 2 Bradford City 18011 34 529.7 8 1 Sheffield United 19888 36 552.4 [Post edited 30 Dec 2015 16:22]

Understood TS. Having kept an eye on Rochdale for many years I fully understand. Realistically, I'll only make a couple of home games a season, tying in with the Exiles Day, and the nearer away ones to home. The likes of Colchester, Southend, Peterborough, Swindon. Aleaanddale I have no real ties to Rochdale, it just that when I first got into football, 77-8, Rochdale finished bottom of the league pile and I have had a soft spot for them ever since. Having thought about coming up to Spotland for many seasons, this time round I just decided to get off my arse and do it! [Post edited 3 Nov 2015 8:50]

Just signed up as an Exile and it was confirmed that admission to the game (Blackpool) is included. Good value and I will be going. |

New cat on the block. Slowly getting to know a few of you Dale supporters. Looking to forward to my next Dale game. Probably Swindon away. |

To be honest, when we were 2-0 down at halftime I was wondering if that green and black kit had cursed Dale. They had not scored a goal since it was introduced (v Bury?) |

A couple of posts before I get locked out: Rochdale changed their plans radically at half-time and we were under the cosh, as we had been in the first fifteen minutes of the match. Unlucky to concede from a corner that should not have been given and a free kick that was highly debateable. But lucky not to concede a penalty for shirt pulling as well. Probably a fair result at the end of the day, but always disappointing to lose a 2-0 lead. Thoroughly disappointing draw, but what a game. Really enjoyed it to be honest. They just simply outplayed us in the second half cant argue with that. Was like a cup game second half and Brown should have reacted to it sooner. Never a free kick from my view, thought he got the ball all day long. |

Was in the Blue Boar in Southend before the game and met some people that I got to know in the Cemetery last week. Wish I had got the train down instead of driving but still had a good afternoon out. Great comeback and could have nicked it at the end. |

As I live less than an hour from Southend I'll be going for sure. Thanks for the tip on the Blue Boar. Forgot to ask: How busy does Prittlewell station get after a game? Not sure if I'll drive or get the train yet. [Post edited 28 Oct 2015 15:40]
